Couple Frames Outdoor Screened Porch in a Day

We had a cloudy, dreary day in Wilmington, so we decided to create a screened-in porch on the back of our house! Two separate trips to Lowe's and a gallon of sweet tea later and we have completed the framing for our screened porch. Up next we will work on removing the vinyl siding from the side walls and replacing them with torched wood siding, painting the porch beams, adding privacy screens, installing the door, and finally, (the fun part...) decorating the inside!

What a great question, and one we've gotten many times. Unfortunately, we sold this home soon after filming the screened porch, so we don't have footage of installing the actual screens. For info regarding why we removed the siding, please see the video after this one, regarding the Walls and Interior Design. It goes through how we used fire to water-seal the wood siding, which is an all natural way of proofing the wood for outdoor use (without using stains or paints).

So many haters in comments. This was a big savings and I was here for framing. I have vinyl siding and didn’t know what to do with the vinyl for frame. Looks like u didn’t need to remove much vinyl on one side.

@@dropndeal the reason I was asking was because of the slabs that have post tension concrete. I had heard when you drill into those that you can really mess up the integrity of the slab. We're buying a new house with a covered patio that would make a great screen porch but it does have post tension.
