Couple Kidnapped Newborn from Hospital After Faking Pregnancy: Cops

Rosa Vespa and Acqua Moses are accused of kidnapping a baby from an Italian hospital and pretending it was their own. Police say Vespa pretended to be pregnant for months before announcing on Facebook that the baby had been born. But police say she was never pregnant. Law&Crime’s Jesse Weber takes a closer look at the bizarre case with former NYPD detective Tom Smith.

I worked in the newborn nursery as an RN for 20 plus years. We put a device on baby’s ankle that prevented baby from being taken from the post partum floor. If the baby got close to the elevator, any exit door the doors locked and an alarm would sound off and we’d know where that baby was. I thought this was being done everywhere.

In most hospitals, in major countries it is ALWAYS done. I assume there may be some way to deactivate it but, I can't imagine how, without setting off the alarm. It's crazy that they were able to leave the hospital without the alarm being raised by anyone at all, even if there was no alarm

It’s done in the UK. the alarm kept falling of my baby’s leg so I had to dress her in baby gro’s and put the alarm in the foot.

baby swaps happen a lot and family's don't figure out until they need match for an organ transplant...and plus not every hospital in the US has great security some hospitals don't have the funds for that I know because my mom has been working in hospitals for 25 years

@@johnellis4334mmmmm every hospital may by different but technology has come a long way in 25 years and it should be nearly impossible for a stranger to do this. In my hospital baby’s are electronically banded the second they come out and the band is electronically linked to the mothers… every time a nurse enters the room or does anything with the baby they scan both mom and babies bands into the system. Not to mention we have a minimum of 4 security check points before someone could even get into the maternity ward.

When my friend had a baby he was in intensive care and she saw an Asian come in fed a baby, washed it, changed it, kiss cuddle it e.c.t. Then she realised she had gone to the wrong baby! I don’t know how the heck it happened with nursing staff and the babies NAME on the cot.🤦🏻‍♀️

When I had my daughter, the baby never left my sight. They put her in the room with me as soon as she was born, She was right next to my bed. There is no way for the baby to get switched or anything if the baby is in the room with you. If she had to be in an incubator they would wheel an incubator into my room and she would still be next to my bed.

My Daughter and my grandson had an alarm on them so they could not get out of the maternity wing. If the baby got near the door a loud alarm went off. Even parents can't take their own baby till the alarm is removed by the hospital.

Every hospital in my area puts a device on the baby that protects the child from ever being taken off the Labor & Delivery floor. They also have a bracelet that identifies the baby and who’s child the baby belongs to, they even have a bracelet they scan I’m pretty sure but that could be to scan in medical stuff like medicine and any surgery but I could’ve sworn they scanned it on me and my baby before we left the hospital because they couldn’t discharge us from the hospital without doing so I think and then I had two nurses take me and my baby out in a wheel chair for our protection and safety.

After getting discharged, they forgot to take it off and as we were leaving it started beeping SUPER loud and everybody literally ran to my sons father as he was carrying his car seat. After my son was born his father was holding him walking him around the room and every time he got too close to the door a silent alarm would go off at the nurses station locking all exits of the labor & delivery ward. Not only that but where I live unless your baby has to be in the NICU your baby NEVER leaves your room. Everything is done in your room including any tests Do they not have the little alarm ankle monitors in Italy?

When I gave birth, they had something on my baby’s ankle that would alert if it was near an exit and you weren’t allowed to take your baby out of the bassinet thing outside of your room. I’m so grateful for my nurses. They made me feel so safe

Where I had my baby, there's a locked gate to the maternity and NICU wards, A baby cannot leave through the gate without mom, their tags have to match. Not even a nurse.

Females particularly can feel overwhelmed if their desire to have a baby of their own does not happen and occasionally we have seen them do extreme things such as kidnap a baby, they generally don't wish to harm the baby but rather to mother the baby. They live in a different country, where crime is much lower compared to the United States of America. Also, I would say American hospitals are still stuck in 1954, I mean why are infant boys still being routinely circ all over the United States, like why? When I had my two kids each baby had a bracelet with a monitor that wouldn’t let them go past a certain distance and wouldn’t allow the doors to open if the monitor was in a certain distance, unless a nurse or doctor scans you out , and each parent has one with the baby’s information and number

I remember when I was pregnant back in 2012 I was told to go to Willesden court in north west London for an ID mix up so I did but the judge put me to Holloway prison 3 days later they bring me from Holloway prison to the Whittington hospital in North London on handcuffs police officers handcuffed me to a hospital bed and try taking my unborn child from my body when I wasn’t even due before my first baby scan I was very wrongfully injustice 2012 I’m still waiting for me and my child justice in court but I had evil police attack me and my child last September nearly killing us took my car off me with me and my child’s nhs numbers inside what they did to me and my child last September Il never forget I believe illegal adoption agencies was involved

They need security bands for baby. That’s what is used in America in the hospitals. If bands are cut off without it being cleared in the system, or if the sensor goes too close to the elevator or door even, it triggers the alarm and all doors to the postpartum unit are locked and elevators stop working.

From what I read he thought his wife had given birth and this was his child..I guess there are texts to back it up and he wasn’t in the delivery room.
