In this video, we do a quick WEEKENDERLANDER Camping Trip in the Jayco Terrain 4x4. It's a quick trip out into the mountains of Colorado to do a little mini overland camping trip in the Sprinter 4x4 and Tacomas. Dave almost dies, we microwave a bunch of food and sit around the campfire. It's a good time, and again the Jayco Terrain 4x4 gives me a fantastic, easy, comfortable camping trip.

Heyoo Mike! Just finished this one up. As a man with, as some would say, too many trucks I think a lot about the daily driver vs the dedicated adventure rig vs the dual purpose setups. I have a 2018 Tacoma which at this point is also fairly well built and just recently I've moved it into the "dedicated" adventure rig mode. About 2 years ago I bought a 1999 Tacoma, regular cab 4cylinder as a hold over/daily/mini project. I like tinkering and it was originally going to be a hold over until I found a different daily driver (bronco sport, RAV4 something like that) but I very quickly fell in love. The original compact trucks have so much going for them. It has been my quasi daily, I am fortunate enough to be able to commute to work by bike/ebike/abomination to work, a 20 mile round trip so I can split my vehicles up pretty thin. This little truck has proven immensely useful in whatever I've thrown at it. I've gotten upwards of 25 mpg on longer trips up to the city, 20 around town. I've hauled 1500lbs of mulch from home Depot (may or may not have been on the bump stops for a few miles. I can tote around my 2 dogs, throw bikes or snowboards in the back and it hasn't broken a sweat. This weekend I helped my girlfriend move in some new equipment to her studio It's only fault is that it's a 2 bucket seat truck but other than that it's the skeletool of trucks. Is it the perfect tool for a given job? No. But it can do almost any job reasonably well, gets decent mpg and is pretty peppy to boot. At 210k miles, it still fires right up and with some TLC and regular maintenance I don't see it having any issues for the foreseeable future. This is the perfect daily driver.

Congrats on the new baby. We just were blessed with our 4th grandchild (we're 63). I agree with you. I've always been a backpacker but a couple of years ago I started building my dream camper van (98 E350 w/ UJoint Offroad 4x4). Had my first adventure recently in a campsite off of a fire road in NC and it was awesome. Enjoying the outdoors is exactly the same but being comfortable at night and in inclement weather makes it even more enjoyable.

Mike, I can tell you this much about being a guy having his first baby, who’s the Father of 4 beautiful kids. It will be the happiest day of your life, bar none. You will be on cloud nine. You will have an affinity and connection with Ashley like you’ve never known possible. You will do baby things that you never thought you would, e.g. changing diapers, bottle feeding, bathing. You will want to be gentle with the baby, but find out they are more robust then we give them credit for. You will start to understand why they are crying. They will become the center of your universe, with the baby dictating “all” of your plans. Your life will change, but it will be fun, exciting and a new chapter!

Mike love the Jimmy Dean breakfast bowls myself. My go to is the potato egg w sausage and gravy. Never seen them in the cup size b4 though. The ones I get are in an actual bowl size container w bout 2 the amount of serving size of that cup. Also if you can run a microwave or an electric kettle while out in the woods camping then yeah why not!? Not like you trying to claim you’re out bush crafting or primitive camping.

Can’t agree enough with you mike. The best way to ruin a great trip is to try and live up to someone else’s ideal and expectations. Time on the road and together with friends and family can’t be topped, However ya roll. Good luck with the kiddo and enjoy the zzz’s while you can brother! My best advice for camping with a kid? Start early, go often, and enjoy the absurdity of making plans and watching them get washed away like bugs on your windshield. 🎉

Here's a tip from the missus and I...pack lots of diapers, wipes, and formula(even if the missus is breastfeeding). The usual that applies for grownups will apply to the little one as well, warm clothes, somewhere quiet and dark to nap etc. If you do bring the little one I highly recommend the climate controlled Van. Take it easy bud.
