Fun fact: UN Village (pronounced like U.N. Village -- like United Nations -- UN. Not unvillage.) is a real place in Korea. It's a ritzy, trendy neighborhood in Korea where some of the top celebrities and idols live. For example, some of the members of BigBang and SHINee have, or used to have, apartments/condos in UN Village. (I think even Baekhyun now lives in the UN Village area.) The area is known for its cool architecture and landscapes, and I think some of this MV was either shot in UN Village or, at the very least, the sets were meant to emulate the look of UN Village. So Baekhyun has said that the song is supposed to make listens feel like they want to take their date to UN Village and wander through the streets and buildings while whispering words of love in their ear, etc. "UN Village" and this album City Lights is Baekhyun's solo debut. He kind of surprised all of us with this one. Before the song was released, we all were trying to guess what kind of style and sound his first album was going to have. And, although this style totally makes sense for him, I don't think many were anticipating it would be quite this soulful. However, since then, all of Baekhyun's albums have been heavily R&B based. Also, Baekhyun's EXO superpower is the ability to control light. So, although "UN Village" is a love song and he is singing to and about a girl and about her light, the lyrics are also referencing the fact that his superpower is the ability to control light. The lyrics have a double meaning -- it's about love, but it's also about how he can literally turn off the street lights with his powers. That is why this MV has so many references to spotlights and shadows and light and dark and why you see the shadow of lamps with bare light bulbs, and why it's in black and white, etc. Hence, one reason why the album is called City Lights, which obviously also references his power. LOL As with almost everything EXO does, the red light is thought to represent the Red Force and blue represents EXO. So the scenes that are red could be instances where the Red Force is in control and the scenes in blue are when Baekhyun has the upper hand. Also take note of the giant map he is looking at hanging on the wall in this MV. When you eventually get to watch EXO-CBX's MV for their song "Horololo," you will see what many think is that same map hanging on the wall in the office Chen, Baekhyun and Xiumin are in in their "Horololo" MV. (It's also thought to be the map we see on the phone that EXO's Kai and NCT's Taeyong are using in SuperM's "One (Monster & Infinity)" MV.) The scene with Baekhyun laying on the table still hasn't been explained, but it is thought that it will eventually become important to connect something to do with EXO's storyline in the future. Everything EXO does is connected to the group's concept and storyline. This song and MV is an example of how even many of EXO's solo projects are part of the story. Even as soloists, they can't escape the fact that they are members of EXO. Everyone gets a little jealous and wishes they were that female dancer Baekhyun smiles at and dances with in "Candy". Even most guys, LOL. The flirty vibe of this song is what makes everyone melt. So, "UN Village" and City Lights is supposed to have an evening theme and his follow up song "Candy" and Delight repackaged album, is supposed to be daytime/daylight. It all is meant to play off of each other. :D The two albums are as different as night and day. And, to really appreciate the choreography, if you haven't yet, you need to check out the dance practice video for "Candy." You will be even more impressed. I think you'll really be surprised when you see the full choreography. ;)

I've heard that only millionaires , billionaires , A-list celebrities , politicians or literally anyone that has crazy money and influence lives there. Residing in a UN Village represents a persons societal status. The hill has a 4-5 level and being on the top are the richest in the korea. I have waited for soooo long for your reaction to exo. Now i saw baekhyun and i got so excited but i was hoping for bambi. You should have included it too🥺 It is a Beautiful artistic song with some amazing concepts as decoded by some musicians. Also fan theories and for UN village as one Musician said that this song a gymnastic/olympics of vocals. It seems simple but actually complex not easy to sing at All. Even one interviewer asked baekhyun how come he made places names sound melodious when they actually sound bad. He even talked about his technique. When he shares his music thoughts and ideas we actually see how Genius he is. All the Exo members have totally different vibes. Plz react to Lay's solo songs veil, Lit, Psychic,honey. His debut Solo million seller album that he made under his own company in 2017 i guess was a hit in US too. And He was under SM back then but he told that he was not allowed to make such music. Bcz SM dint like his choice. Even for Lit song He spent almost 1.7 million dollar from his own budget bcz SM wasnt interested.
