Oh I hope this one ends up on the list of shows you watch. The start of the show can be a bit bumpy for some people, but before long it hits a sweet spot where each arc is better than the last. I've been a fan since the show had 10 episodes, and there's even a movie coming out in March!

this anime was underrated when it was released....it was meant to only run for 50 episodes because the anime is reaching the manga... but they still continued it weekly...is has mixed reviews but mostly they only pointed out the animation style which was made poorly...the animation studios "Studio Pierrot" were a bit understaffed and they were rushed to do an episode weekly...during its ongoing segment, people grow to love this series because of: 1) the story telling is different 2) great world building 3) great character development 4) lots of characters but they have their own good backstory and they are not just a side character (unlike tenten in naruto) 5) great teamwork battles 6) lot's of plot twist 7) the buff guy with a cigar is the COOLEST CHARACTER and great mentor/father figure...and has great one liner too! And because of this, it got great reviews from "viewers" also to those manga readers, not only that when it reached a certain arc, it grew a lot of attention... another critic is that the main character's voice actor is loud like always shouting but then it was minimized and people grew on him and became lovable character... because of the series success, it got a movie which is to be released next year and upcoming new season is going to be more exciting... so to sum it up... it's a great magical/wizardry world that has good story plots, great world building, i don't care the animation if it's a bit poorly done, as long as the story is great, great teamwork battle style, each character has a unique characteristics/background...and don't worry as the episode progress, the animation is improving a bit... if you are planning to watch it, bear with it until episode 28 because from here on out it's gonna be a blast!

So, not just opening 13 but also opening 11 is preformed by Snowman a J-Pop group. Daisuke Sakuma (one of the members) openly stated Black Clover was his favorite anime prior to the collab. and since they had him voice and anime original character that's modeled after himself.

It's a good thing you skipped version 2 of opening 7 methinks, actually, because any small amount of attention you would have paid to that would have probably spoiled like 80% of that part of the anime far as I'm concerned. The guy in the wife beater shirt is called Yami. He's basically something of a retired isekai protagonist, or so the joke goes, and then he settled down to become something of a laid back mentor figure. The girl with the silver hair is called Noelle, she's part of the main cast. The spell books are called grimoires. They allow for users to cast spells/use more complicated magic. Yes, the magic system of this anime does involve the four basic elements - fire, water, earth and wind - but beyond that it also includes rare, "unnatural" magic types that don't stem from these basic elements, which are considered arcane (far as I can tell) and then there's antimagic. And like some of the others, I too believe you should watch the anime. Also, I love how with like every other anime opening you were like "this ones my favourite". My favourites are 4-12 (they generally have both quality visuals and sound, and it works for what is happening in the anime). The endings are actually pretty good too, and I'd be down to watching your reaction for those as well. This anime isn't seasonal. It's long running... so, warning: the art and animation quality will be inconsistent and not quite like the quality of the openings would suggest. That all said, if you can look past that, there is a fun cast of characters, good voice acting (both in sub and in dub), interesting dynamics, entertaining action (especially when it's at its best), a good story and some neat lore. Comedy is pretty subjective, but I loved this anime's sense of humour and though it has it's flaws, as far as I'm concerned it was a fun ride. Asides from Asta growing bulkier as time goes on, I suppose around a year goes by between the first episode and those of the eighth opening and Yuno does change uniform/grow a little taller. Yeah, the whole "never growing up" thing seems to be a common trope among shounen protagonists. They change the people around them, but they themselves remain virtually unchanged, except they grow stronger. Honestly, if you're looking for something based off of a game, then Astra Lost in Space is based off of Among Us quite clearly. Death Note Guy is probably called Ryuk, this one you will find out the name of later on in the anime. I was personally somehow more reminded of Pitch Black from RotG, but I can definitely see how that would work. Oh, yeah, def. Openings 7-10 take place during the "Reincarnation Arc". It's a big one and it really brings together many of the characters and mysteries from the previous episodes into a serious of pretty dope fights and even some emotional moments (which don't tend to be leaned as heavily on as they do in MHA, but some are still heavy hitters). It's many people's favourite, or at least one of their favourites... at least in Black Clover and imo, Tabata could never beat this arc in terms of how well-balanced and executed it was as opposed to the big arcs later on in the series. At least not for Black Clover. Maybe in later ventures he'll surpass his limits, but I think here he's already peaked for this series. After that, I feel it's a bit of a mess (though still enjoyable). That's also partly down to the editing, probably. It could probably be bested if the studio behind the anime improves upon the Spade Arc, I suppose... but that's unlikely. The fire fam. Not the only fire family and not part of the only kingdom with fire users, but definitely the most prominent one. Gonna have to keep the hubba hubba to yourself - he's still 17 here. The main cast (Asta, Noelle and Yuno) reaches past majority only AFTER the spade arc which is well after the thirteenth opening... so yeah. Also, I dunno man, his face still looks like that of a kid, even as someone attracted to men I just couldn't. Noelle's pigtails make her look like a kid, so it's hard to mistake her as above 18 and Yuno... well, I dunno. Just something about him. The captains though - the ones fighting in OP12 - are def adults, so you can hubba hubba over them all you want. XD

Knowing you both actually love elementals, magic, witches and wizards, just cemented for sure that you'd love this show! It's slow and you might not get into it as easily at first, and you might even notice the animation as I know you're used to watching godly animations so far (this was a weekly anime series, no breaks in between), but after a few eps it definitely picks up with the story! You're gonna love so many characters, laugh a lot, there is amazing world-building, the plot thickens, the animation gets better, and it would serve so many greatest hypes in anime! If you react to it, I hope you don't give it up (I almost did) because it's so worth it and you'd regret if you did!

Black Clover has some of the best character rivalries. Luckily the anime is on hiatus so you can marathon the 170 episodes. And they have arcs that you can enjoy that lead into each other. So it isnt as plagued with filler like Naruto and Bleach.

regarding your question about if there are 13 seasons since there are 13 openings. There are actually 4 seasons technically but the openings are spread out evenly among the 4 seasons, with a new opening about every 12 episodes or more.

Fun series to watch if y’all get a chance! It’s currently on a “hiatus” for the anime but expected to return sometime after March 31. There’s a Netflix movie coming out that day (and the hope is the success from the movie would help kickstart a new season) Manga is on the last arc/section before it ends. IMO, the anime just progressively gets better each season. Glad y’all reacted to the OPs!

Sad fact: Initialy the studio had low budget for black clover and the studio had to dish out 1 episode per week, while also doing another anime, so the studio had low budget and little time, BUT that did not stop the animators, over time the animation gradually got better since the anime by the episode got more and more popular giving the anime more budget to the point that in many countries black clover is number 1 in popularity. even though the animation quality constantly fluctuates

I "endured" this anime too. I watched KNY before this, so it was the animation that disappointed me, how the characters seemed to be one-dimensional, and how the fights/scenes also looked like a predictable typical and even cringe shounen (MC being loud didn't bother me much). I wanted to drop it so bad but it started to pick up for me starting from the 3rd OP (I was continuing just for the OPs 😭). But after that arc it just kept getting better and better and I got so much hyped by OP 4 that quickly. It's now one of my fave animes and I'm just thankful that I continued on, because if I did drop this series I would've missed A LOT. And there are a lot of BC fans who share the same story/sentiment with me enduring the anime in the beginning, but you just gotta surpass your limits!

SUPER EXCITED for the Naruto reactions!! Michelle is 100% right, it’s the easiest anime to recommend to newer consumers, and one of the easiest to get into and really love. Also, Black Clover is hella fire 🔥 the music is super dope too :) Black Catcher (OP3) & Black Rover (OP10) are definitely my favorites. Love the melodies. Also fun fact: the studio that animated Naruto also animates Black Clover! :))
