Wendy Definitely released a different type of sound and style with the album and I'm really liking the evolution and experience in the sound engineering

Even SM was expecting her only to stick to ballads and such, but she really stood against the company this time bcoz she knew what she wanted and expressed her opinions strongly :) ... Hell, even the last song in the album 'Vermilion' wasn't there in the album until she decided to add it instead of another song bcoz she knows we all love her R&B vocals ;)

It's the wish of everyone for her to show different things instead of sticking to ballad, it seems like that was what SM tried to push at first and wendy has been very open about how she fought the company to release the genres she wanted. All those struggles paid off because this album is 10/10 for me, every single songs are amazing, definitely i love it better than like water mini... can't wait for you guys to check out the rest of the album and hear your thoughts on it

It's so funny that you mentioned you expected it to be a ballad. She said in a recent interview that she specifically didn't want there to be a ballad on the album. She specifically wanted a more R&B sound and actually rejected many songs given to her in order to paint a specific story with the album.
