We renovated e a 100 year old Victorian house in the north of England. The house was neglected by the previous tenants and needed a huge renovation before it could go into the market for sale.
We painted every single wall, replaced flooring, restored 2 fireplaces, installed a new kitchen and the family bathroom was redone.

This genuinely bought tears to my eyes. I live in a very similar house with a lot of original features and all too often these days, people are ripping out period features and replacing them with (imo) something awful. I never understood why people buy period properties and strip them? They are on a budget. They didnt even tear wallpapers down. The house is molded. To fix it, u need to tear everything down and replaster....profit wise it was also not worth it, a tiny return for three months of work..

What a beautiful house. I had an Edwardian end terrace only two bedrooms, in North Yorkshire. We were in a tied house, and rented it out for several years. Eventually we moved back to my home area when my husband retired. All your hard work in three months, amazing.

I will say a dolly could help you immensely! I have moved pieces some men friends say they will wait til they can get more friends to help. Forget that! I have two dollies, one is called a piano dolly, the other is a large 2 wheel dolly that breaks down to a longer 4 wheel dolly. I feel like I can move mountains. This is an absolute lovely make over! Good job!

I just happened on your channel and must say...Fantastic! I love the project and love that you show just how capable women can be at home repair and improvement. As a women myself, I do all the remodeling and repairs in our home including electrical and some minor plumbing. My fiancée admitted right off that building, construction, home improvements, etc. were something he was not good at. I told him, "No problem, I've got you covered. The details inside that home are incredible. Wood trims, stairs, doors, etc. needed so much work, but looked like new when you were done 👍🏻👏🏻. The fireplace, bay window and bath also look amazing now. Love the warm tones of the new wall paint as well. Easiest way to clean brass: make a pitcher of Kool-Aid (yes, sugar and all), and drop your doorknobs or brass pieces into it, Let it sit and soak for awhile then, presto! Shiny, clean brass! I learned this tip from my son, and a friend of mine who were both in the Navy. That's how brass pieces are cleaned on a ship (except for large pieces that are cleaned with Brasso).

I'll never understand why people say the kitchen is terrible and tear out all the cabinets, only to. Replace them. With lookalikes. Why not just reduce the number and replace countertops, plumbing, hardware, lighting and appliances. I hope hope hope they donated them or sold stuff. And most of my life, I'd have jumped for joy to have that stove. Now as a senior I only 😮 cook for one. I've done this kind of work, and it can be back b reading great work. I'd PROBABLY have put up wallpaper in the dining room.something cool and gardeny colors, cool greens and blues,. But I most admire that they really prepped surfaces and didnt just slap paint around.

In fairness the existing cabinetry looked like it was made of mdf, not plywood. Mdf has a lifespan of only 10 years or so. It doesn't look like the existing kitchen had been done more recently than a decade so it makes little sense to put in the hard work to cut and remake new cabinetry out of old mdf when you'll have to probably cut it out and redo very soon. This is in part why mdf is such a terrible material - and the worst part is that it usually can't be recycled due to the bonding agent within it. Unfortunately the new kitchen cabinetry looks like mdf as well.

The kitchen part of the renovation was so wasteful and ignorant on their part. “Who needs eight hops?!” Most people would love to have a range that large. The fact she didn’t understand why a home cook would need that many hops tells me she doesn’t cook, and therefore she shouldn’t have any say in what a kitchen should look like. And yes I totally agree with what you said about ripping out perfectly good cupboards only to replace them with something similar. It made no sense except from a price gouging standpoint, since it felt like they were trying to squeeze every dime out of the owners that they could with that kitchen reno.
