I actually agree with Hallie's pov about relationships getting boring, cause there's obviously the honeymoon phase and when that ends the real and serious part of the relationship starts and it might feel boring, obviously if it starts bothering you sooo much and you just can't stand it then that person might not be for you, but that doesn't mean you should just leave the minute you get used to them

23 years now (married at 18) the number 1 rule is to surround yourself with people that respect your marriage and when they don’t they are not for you. (Of course this is if you’re not in an abusive relationship, that’s a given) Those people can be destructive and toxic to a marriage especially if one of you still remain to be friends/family with them because it can make the other not feel as important to you to stand up for and set boundaries to make each other loved and protected.

@@iamcalledbex we actually eloped (courthouse wedding lol) no one knew and then a year later we had a wedding and reception. For our toast we told everyone that they were there celebrating our 1 year anniversary. His family was not happy but my family was overjoyed and cried because they were happy that I was happy. What’s funny is that we are the only ones of his sisters and parents that didn’t divorce and are on year 23! Our marriage works because we are bonded with trust, respect and pick each other up when the other one is struggling. Plus, we laugh together a lot which is also key!

I agree with hallie that all relationships get boring because if it's a serious relationship then that is just life and sometimes life can be boring or you get bored. If you expect everyday to be exciting and adrenaline pumping and butterflies thats just not realistic. It doesn't mean those things aren't still there but it's not going to be an everyday for the rest of your life thing.

Great video and advice for the older kids. About Alex, everyone is talking without knowing the truth. If him and Savanah did break up or not, it's too soon to tell if it's final. In relationships couples break up all the time and go back together. It's normal. If they did break up there could still be a chance for them to get back together. He can't just come out and say it right away because you never know. It must be harder because all eyes are on him for being the oldest brother and all but give him a break. No one is perfect! Full disclosure, I haven't watched the video yet. But from what I've gathered from your comment, it's only an "issue" if she actually wants to settle down with someone. There is much debate over whether humans evolved to be monogamous, that is, settle down with one person for life. Though our eurocentric culture dictates that this is the moral high ground, it's really a personal choice. If she does not want to settle down with someone, that is not inherently a problem. There's nothing wrong with not wanting a long term relationship.

I too have movies that I watch when I am feeling a different way. I completely get Aaron on that. They are my special movies that I watch. I don't mind sharing my movies though. 8 seconds is one of them. It makes me appreciate my husband and that he is here. He does dangerous sports and it makes me cherish him. Another one is love and basketball and the notebook. There are more but I can't think right now. My 2nd child yells too. It must be the 2nd child thing. My first child was an angel. Alex this is something my husband told me back when we were dating when I told him that I was shocked that he never left the seat up, he bassically said you should always put the lid down before flusing becuase if you don't the water and poop particles will splash out of the toliet on to you and it is now in the air. So don't put the lid down before flushing but just remember if you don't everytime you leave it up you are getting poop and pee on you and it is going into your lungs.

Great discussion Some of the best advice I received was from a novel, actually Basically, especially during challenging times, remember that wedding vows aren't for the wedding, but for the hard times. You don't need those vows when everything is great and you feel deeply in love--you need them on the days when you don't feel as loving or when you don't feel like being married. I think the same concept can still be put in place before marriage in the context of a long-term committed relationship

I have to say I think that if there’s an issue with problems you have to watch who you talk to because if you talk to for example your family or friends it can make them think differently about the other person and have thoughts about the other person and if it’s something bad they might take sides and after everything is worked out other people might hold a grudge I also think Haley was saying bored she was thinking about people can tend to get in a rut just doing the same things all the time but then that would fall back on communicating saying let’s try something different I feel like in a relationship sometimes especially when young you lose your identity and make everything about the other person and no longer do things apart you both need your own friends and activities apart as much as together don’t lose yourself is my biggest suggestion

This is an interesting though sensitive item for a Q&A on a family channel. In every relationship and family there is always the tension of expectation vs reality or theory vs practice. From my life experience and perspective: Apart from honesty and communication for a healthy relationship (romantic or not), an empathetic and respectful mindset and trust are required. It should be about aligning and acceptance of the love languages and expressing them without accusation or judgement. We might discover that it is possible to have more than one language. I’m exactly like Aaron with regard to acts of service. I could care less what tasks you do for me. I prefer words of affirmation/time. Growing up and especially as a young adult still at home that was hard to learn with my mom as she likes acts of service for her so I had to learn to do things for her to show her I appreciated her and she had to learn I’m not going to necessarily realize all the little things she does for me and I had to learn to look for there things.

I feel like it's OK to get bored in a relationship especially if you've been together fir a while my husband and I have had some moments where I felt bored because it is the same monitney everyday day with work and parenting but we've communicated our why through it so yes I agree communication is key it's solved alot of our problems and prevents resentment toward one another. And yes being open with each other is part of that communication. I see Alex's mannerisms as well either he and Savanah our done or he just doesn't care he definitely seemed like the immature one in the relationship. Relationships also take work and compromise and even more so when your married and engaged.
