Sure it happens around the world. SCMP reports viral trends and news regarding China that many western outlets often overlook. So this is important news by itself because it happened in China. Not because they are focusing the problem on China. So there's no problem here.

Sadly that is the normal practices around the world. Unless u pay extra, last time i have to spend around 10x the normal price to ensure my package to arrive safely without any damage. The result: the goods arrived with only slight damage and really fast.

i am a mail person working for canada post. do you expect us to treat all the parcels like little babies? i will respect and handle a parcel/package if it has a sticker that says FRAGILE/HANDLE WITH CARE. sometimes i get documents that says DO NOT BEND. i will abide by that rule as well. most of the time parcels will get tossed around. 1000%. shippers of parcels should also package their parcels very carefully, expecting that their parcels will get tossed around. not even by us. do you guys ever think that the parcels are being thrown and tossed by handlers at the airport? all kinds of things happen to your precious packages.

Is there an actual problem with this? It seems like the report is simply playing on people's emotions. The bigger problem is that they weren't accurately thrown...some seemed to end up in the wrong pile, so will surely end up going in the wrong direction and delaying the delivery :/

I believe every courier terms and conditions did mention it is not their responsibility to take care of your parcel. It is the seller responsibility to ensure the parcel is packed securely so it can handle rough handling. Honestly i dont blame these sorting facilty in handling the parcel but i really cant stand the seller packed the stuff terribly

Packages are supposed to be wrapped in bubblewraps or anything to protect the parcel from external damages I doubt one throw is enough to break whatever it is in the parcel

I thought we've known this for years and there's not a lot they can do to avoid it. Shipping is dirt cheap in China with same landmass of the US/Europe. Everything is getting more expensive but shipping a 500g parcel across China still only costs something like 2-3 euros in many cases. Who's getting exploitet? They do this to save time because each package has such little profit margin for the people working at the bottom.

The treatment of your delivery parcels is equal to the price which you paid for, if you dont want a badly treated package, then buy a more expensive delivery service such as DHL instead of using local courier postal company which cost 10x lesser

That's not true, I used DHL 2 weeks ago to deliver a wooden thick plate, it's a toy that I bought for my friend's cat. The plate broke into half when she received. I paid $42 dollars to DHL, the toy was about $28 , and the whole parcel was only 575 grams, I cannot believe it.😡😡
