You know with restaurants each evening you might have a whole line of them touting for trade, but only one will get the first customer. The next customer sees the first customer and thinks I'll go there, then the next and the next until one place is packed out and the rest empty. You hanging about for four hours in their shop is helping them to look busy and pulling in more trade. That extra discount is your wage for being a sales rep!

It's for running multiple operating systems you can set your system to dual boot and pick which one it boots into and set custom bios profiles for both
@deepseer
@deepseer Жыл бұрын
Years ago when pre-installed OS was rare in China, most people would let their dealers install the OS (usually unlicenced version). The dealer would use any disk image software (mostly Ghost). If the system crashed, they would just "ghost" the system again, but all the data on partition C would be lost. Therefore, they prefer multiple partitions. It's not about dual booting: most people never uses multiple systems. And for those who knows how to do it, there will be more partitions.
@deepseer
@deepseer Жыл бұрын
Why this tradition persists, even when no one really uses Ghost any more and you can easily re-install OS without losing any data on partition C? 1. Windows's own security feature is useless when it meets Chinese softwares: they are so useful that you can't live without them but they keep popping up advertisements. Therefore, uses choose some Chinese security softwares, and these security software doesn't rely on Windows's built-in security feature that priorizes partition C or "Program Files" folder. 2. Some people just don't like software being installed to the default folder (usually "Program Files" but somes "User\Data"). They prefer to organize the folders themselves. 3. If you want to quickly locate a file, type "E:\XXX" is much faster than clicking through a tree of folders. 4. What if one partition is full while another is empty? Well, there are freewares that can resize partitions without losing data.

Dawid, pro tip, if your card has an 8 pin but your psu only has a 6 pin, as long as you know you'll never pull more than 75W from the 6 pin (according to pcie standards, the cables can do more) you can just stick a wire or paperclip into the two open pins to jump them together, those two are just for sensing by pulling the sense pin to ground
@vadnegru
@vadnegru Жыл бұрын
If i remember correctly 6 pin is for 120W or 130W so it doesn't make sense they used 8 pin (rated 180W). Or they know how terrible their power supplies is, that can barely give 75w on 8 pin.
@renchesandsords
@renchesandsords Жыл бұрын
@@vadnegru 6 pin is rated for 75W according to PCIe, but the actual number of 12V connection wires is the same as an 8-pin, which is rated for 150W, but realistically, I've personally pulled close to 300W from a single 8 pin, with overlockers pulling closer to 500W, the margins on those connectors are really good
@vadnegru

A Dell XPS with an i7-6700, GTX 750ti, 16GB of single channel DDR4 at JEDEC 2133, no storage (seller wisely yoinked it), in a cute little micro-ATX box. Looks like I have some room to play around with the little thing. The PSU actually offers GPU power, and I have a 16GB dual-stick 2400MT DDR4 set laying around. I'll likely throw in my RX 570, said RAM, a 1TB mechanical stolen from another prebuilt that only needed my 160GB potato, and a 128GB SSD for boot.

My suggestion for the PSU problem is that due to the mining crash, some of these Shenzhen shops are also selling PSUs that were used for mining as well. You can buy 600W to 700W (second hand) True Rated PSUs for $15 or less. The current prices for these markets have now relaxed due to the GPU mining crash.

9:24 I had a friend working in one of these retail stores selling cheap PCs. When I got my desktop this year, my 1TB SSD was split into 2 partitions, so I asked him why. He doesn't know the techy reasons but said it's for file organization and security since most purchases from his workplace are internet cafes looking for expansions. The partitioned space can be locked so the customer doesn't fumble around. I believe him, but to be honest, I think another reason is to trick the not-so-knowledgeable customers into thinking that they got multiple drives.

Chinese gaming laptop have some absolute insane p/p ratios. You can get a 4060 gaming laptop for as little as 750 to 900 usd brand new. Hell even HP gaming laptops like Victus and Omen in China retails for like 1/2 or 1/3 the price of the US and other market, that's why we (Vietnamese) also import gaming laptops from China a lot

Your videos are hilarious! I love your commentary. I wanted to point out that if your harddisk was purchased from the same shop and they put in a "cracked" version of Windows for you, it is very likely filled with malware/backdoors. I hope you didn't use it for anything sensitive.

You mentioned that you could pay less if you were skilled at "bartering". To barter is to exchange goods for other goods, for example swapping my 2 cows for your 5 goats. So it's generally an exchange without money. I think the word you were looking for was haggling. To haggle is to negotiate the price you buy goods for. Sorry to be pedantic but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Not 100% sure but I think the ARC GPUs require resizable-bar to work. I was looking into them for an i7-7700 and they're not supported. 9th gen or higher I believe.
