Looking forward to trying out this strategy, planning ahead to take those bunkers out of play will save lots of stress and shots!

I had a Course Strategy Session with Sam last week, 9 holes around The Bracken at Woodhall Spa. He’d recommended Shot Pattern app and I trust his judgement so had signed up the night before. The session itself was excellent, Sam really knows his stuff and explains it so well. Shot Pattern app visually supported what he was saying in terms of shot choice and target selection on each hole. He also gave so much great advice on other variables like lie and conditions and avoiding the big misses. I’ve used the app twice on my home course since and seen strokes gained jump up already! It’s changed my understanding of how to play the game. Inputting the round afterwards is easy and it’s mapped for the Red tees too! I have struggled for years with when or when not to use Driver and making these more informed decisions has given me the confidence I need to make the right choice and execute the shot. I can’t recommend a Course Strategy Session with Sam enough and the app is the best I’ve used by far. So much excellent data! Sam will be swimming in it 🤣. I will report the stats so that he has a much better understanding of what goes wrong on the course so what needs work. Thanks guys 🙏

Please also do the video on decade strategy on tight tree lined park course where every hole is a dog leg, R and L. Any shot hit in trees is a side way chip out meaning still not able to reach green on some holes with 3rd shot so on for 4.

This video is a great reminder of thinking strategy. I am definitely guilty of hitting my driver on holes where I have no chance of carrying the bunkers. I will try playing to avoid them next time I play. Should be good for short game practice !

I'd like to see someone do a proper deep dive into the data to see the best strategy for 15 handicappers and above. For us guys and girls I think keeping it in play is the prime motive off the tee. So long as your 3rd shot (assuming a par4) allows you a realistic chance of getting it on the green somewhere near the flag to make a 2 putt, net par. It's interesting, I love decade golf and I'm not suggesting your info isn't correct for better players but I've found my golf is considerably more consistent when I take 7w off most tees, and make sure to just keep the ball in play. I can shoot 88 to 92 by doing that easily. When I bring the driver out more often I can shoot 82 but I can also shoot 98.

Do you keep any strokes gained statistics? This should give you a clear indication of how many strokes you are gaining or losing with driver v 7w for your handicap and he'll choose the best strategy for your level. DECADE isn't a one size fits all approach or handicap bias, it's more a framework for making consistently better decisions. Knowing your individual strokes gained data I believe, is essential for all golfers to help maximise their scoring.
