I imagine the modern Court of Owls has embraced the pragmatic belief, "The world is not divided by race, it is divided by power." In order to keep their talons in everything.

Something I really like about this incarnation of the Court of Owls is that it puts a lot of the previous Gotham events in context. Street level crime lords like the Mad Hatter were not intruding into the Court's power, and the mob wars by the likes of the Penguin were likely useful in distracting what little police and political force that could have moved against the group. It is the kind of thing that makes me curious to see their reaction to the likes of the Joker; a figure chaotic enough to occupy Batman and/or the cops certainly, but also the kind of criminal that would be seen as powerfully unpredictable to the tight control they weld.

Penguin will always interest me most when he has his deformities in universe. Because it's a paradox. He wants status and respect as an elite of Gotham, because he was BORN into one of Gotham's prestigious families, something he had no merit in. But he can't get anyone to take him seriously BECAUSE of his deformities, something else he never had any say in. A good villain is defined by someone who took the easy way out of their hardship.

This gives me the same joy that reading comics would do. Having to gradually watch the story unfold and the anticipation and payoffs. I have said it before, but our Gotham Historian and his narration sells this amazing storyline. It has me geeked to see a proper telling of the Damien Wayne story, the League of Assassins, and all the minor stories in between like Mad Love, A Death in the Family and The Long Halloween 🎃 All in all, I honestly would hate to see this series and timeline come to an end

I'm not afraid to say i never liked the Cort of Owls in the comics. I felt they were a bit to hooky for my taste (im aware that's a oxymoron considering they're Batman villains). But i will admit this is probably my favorite take on them 😊. It's smart and twisted, just what i like in a Batman story

It's funny how the court of owls in general (not just this version) is strikingly similar to Bohemian Grove in reality. It was controversial for being more sexist than racist tho. The last full female member (and by member I mean librarian) died in 1928. But the symbol is still an owl and they do still perform "rituals." If you don't know about it look it up. P.S I just realized I'm no where near the first person to realize this. Shout out to all the intellectuals out there. Note to self: read more comments before posting one of your own.
