Kool video, I had a 2015 Limited and I use the door light to turn them on when there open, but some they all burn out so now i got to get some different ones to put on my 2019 now.

that's up to you, I personally like them independent from everything else so I can control them on their own, but that's how I am with everything!...lol...it would look pretty sweet lighting them all up with the courtesy lights though!

without doing it myself I'm not 100% sure, but I would definitely think there would be some custom wiring involved...along with cutting the holes in the underside of the mirrors for the lights themselves

Yea absolutely!...plug into the footwell light and you’ll be good to go, I’ve actually thought about taking my puddle lights off the mirrors since I have these now, let me know how ya make out!

That can very easily be done just by wiring to a different location… I wired mine this way just because it’s illegal to drive with them on in my state, but you can absolutely wire them up using a switch and a location that always has power… Would be very easy to do!

When you install underbody led lights and run them to the courtesy light do you need to connect them to a fuse? And if so how do you go about that?

I did not for my application, I just tapped them into the footwell lighting as mentioned and it’s working perfectly...hope that helps!

Yepper, you can technically tap any LEDs into the courtesy light circuit…if the color changing ones draw more amps than usual you can always put an inline fuse in place!

@@NitroZ18Fishing I got the led lights installed and it did end up blowing the fuse. The fuse size for the dome lights under the hood is a 7.5. Where is a good spot to add an inline fuse, and what size fuse do I need to add? I replaced the 7.5 with a spare 15 fuse and the lights did come back on and they seem to work fine but I don't want to fry any wires so If the inline fuse will work I'll try it.

Hey I’m sorry, I don’t know how I missed your last comment on here!…to add an inline fuse I would run power wires direct to battery, and add the fuse by the positive connection on the battery…but unfortunately that would defeat the purpose of tapping them into the footwell/courtesy lighting…try going down to a 10amp and see if it blows…I won’t lie it’s not ideal but if it doesn’t blow with a 10 amp you should be fine…going from a 7.5 to a 10 isn’t too big of a jump…the other option is an “add a fuse”…that’s the safer bet, you would just have to run the power wire up to the fuse box…let me know if that helps!

Nice idea. I would spend the extra money though on some heavy duty all weather rock lights because it is fully exposed to the weather under the truck.

Trying to add 12-volt courtesy lights under a Tundra 2021. Tied it into the the interior courtesy light but they stay on all the time and don't go off when the door is closed. Anyone have more detailed information on how to do this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Bob

I wired the white wire from the courtesy to the blue wire on the footwell light and the remaining wires are wired to the harness to give me running lights amber and turning signal amber lights... my LEDs have four wires... Black with fuse ..yellow.. white and red. The black with the fuse is grounded and that is where I put a lead black ground to make sure the whole set of lights was grounded... But when door is closed lights stay on... I then read where someone ran a black ground to the tan wire and the white courtesy wire to the blue... Same result only the interior lights stayed on as well so I undid that... The only option I am seeing is to find the hot wire going to my cargo bed in hopes of connecting there so that when the door is shut the courtesy lights will go out as does the cargo light... I have tried everything I know and have now become confused as a pussycat in a paper box... Hahaha any suggestions would be much much much appreciated at this point !!! Thank you kindly .

@@NitroZ18Fishing Hi...thanks for responding....I have LEDs that have four wires...yellow to turn signal, red to parking lights, black to ground, and white to door assist. I got them wired so that I have amber lights when running and left and right turn signals but when I tried to wire into the courtesy well light and ground them to the black, they stay on all the time, even when door is closed. The courtesy well light will go out but the white courtesy LED's stay on. I have tried every scenario I can think of and am now brain dead. If you have a solution it would help and I would be thankful...its a 2021 Tundra and love it but the courtesy lights is a bummer, being a senior citizen I need a lil extra lighting getting in and out. I read where someone even wired the white to the blue on well light and tied into the black ground and wired that to the tan wire. I tried...all stay on with door open or closed.....^^@#@%^...Thank you kindly !!

hmm, ok I'm going to try to help the best I can, this is definitely a different set up than I have!...haha...from what I'm reading, it seems like because they're wired to the running lights that's why they're staying on at all times...what brand lights?...I'll look them up and figure it out, it has to be something simple (wiring issues usually are...haha)...wiring issues like this can be very frustrating, but I'll figure it out!!

Thanks Nick!…yes sir, they must be…I tapped into the footwell lighting but the leds come on/go off whenever the puddles do…so they must be on the same circuit, hope that helps!

Had to show your video to the local Toyota dealership whom said the puddle lights would not come on walking up to the truck! I mean really? The tech called me and said he hooked it up to the computer and read all through the manual. With all the other techs saying the same damm thing. Your video texted to the tech, 30 minutes later he called me back after watching your video and he figured it out. My issue is there is a delay in the puddle lights coming on. Standing next to the truck it’s takes a few seconds before the puddle lights come on. Do you know how to speed up this? My rock lights are being installed next month and doing the same thing as you.

Thats crazy, my 2020 Crewmax limited has a solid wall of body in between those 2 holes. I pulled the grommet completely out and looked up in there. There is no way to route a wire over there without drilling through the body. :/ If anybody has a different way besides going through the back of the cab I would appreciate it.
