Beautiful! And very instructive ! You gave many insights into how to draw a effective and catchy caricature!

I love this drawing, Court. I bow my head to your mastery of strokes. The approach to try and sculpt the form with one set of lines (hatching) without the need to cross-hatch for getting darker - and your ability to pull it off, are amazing. Very inspiring for me in my own travels to mastery. Thank you very much for sharing! 😘

Those rapidiograph pens I thought were awful. Expensive and hard to take care of. They clogged all the time and once they were clogged you had to throw them away. Plus the constant shaking to relieve the ink. These new disposable pens are incredible and have such a beautiful line

Very nice one! If I just saw the picture without knowing who you meant to draw (and I actually don't know this actor), this could easily be a good caricature of Paul Rudd - especially in the early pencil phase! But I guess these two do have similiar features.

Hello Court & the lovely Miss Deb! I’m sorry I wasn’t available for the live feed but watching now. I find it interesting that you don’t like crosshatching and just hatching lol I like that and I dig the look of hatching. 2 Questions; I am registered to take Tom Richmond’s Workshop in Queens NY in June, if someday(hopefully) you happen to have a live workshop(in person) in my area of NY,NJ & Ct, would the two styles of you and Tom’s be of benefit to me or conflict with each other as a student? Question 2; Do you sell these pieces that you stream on KZbin, like this one? Grazie sir!

Hey Big Daddy. Thanks! I think Tom has more of an established technique and system for drawing his MAD caricature inkings. They're very consistent-looking. Whereas I sort of make it up as I go along. I don't ink nearly as much as him. But when I do, I strive to make that particular drawing unique and interesting, regardless of what I've done before. So I would say that Tom would be a good choice if you want to draw in a more controlled, consistent manner. Also, I don't regularly teach the subject of inking nor do I plan to offer in-person workshops like him. I'm not opposed to the idea. But I would say if you have the opportunity to take one with Tom, then you should do it. You'll take from it what is useful to you, I'm sure.

Could you repeat the names and the size of the pens. Do you use Sharpie. Fine tip. Kourosh. Atlanta
@CourtJones3 жыл бұрын
Hey Kourosh. I was using Prismacolor, Micron and Staedtler brand fine liners. Sizes were between .005 and 0.8 mm. I don't use Sharpies to draw with, personally.

What do you call these pens. ? Are there different colors?
@CourtJones3 жыл бұрын
There are different colors for the Prismacolor brand fine line markers. But I don't know about the other brands.

Just for accuracy, they actually died - not just in mere seconds - but in LESS THEN A MILLISECOND! Try and wrap our heads around that one lol

If I ever did a course on unhealthy dynamics, this is what I'd show the class. She had a negative response every time he talked or answered a question. You could make a drinking game on how often she went "bleh" or "Ugh". Like seriously lady, grow tf up and stop putting your man down every chance you get. Reminded me of my childhood, I couldn't get through the full thing. I know I'm being an armchair psychologist but holy shit. Hopefully, this was a one off and isn't courts day to day. Deb(bie) Downer seems a more appropriate nickname.
