in a later performance (maybe on Champions) where she teams up with the Strut. Midway through the song, they switch over to Piece of my Heart and I swear she was channeling Janis Joplin. Awesome!!!!!

Your reaction is great! Welcome to the Courtney fandom world. I have been following her since she was in the United Kingdom competing on The Voice Kids, and I couldn’t be happier that she came to the United States. Someone like this needs exposure, even more for our sake than hers. No, she did not come out and announce the tragedies of her life. She old-schooled us, at the same time making it feel new and modern. It’s a gift. And it’s worth the crying. Many, many performers come out on that stage and do a beautiful job, but precious few are revolutionary.

I love seeing Courtney Hadwin latecomer reactions because they're usually like your reactions. Actually, by her next performance (Papas Got a Brand New Bag), she had over 200 million views, most ever on AGT. Courtney is 15 now, and I see that some comments have already brought you partially up to speed. Simply put, Courtney is going to be the next big thing in music. She was signed by Syco/Arista/Sony and is currently recording her 1st album at 15. She is on KZbin at least since 9 y/o with great covers. She earned money for singing lessons by busking (street performances). She is like no other current performer and already has millions of dedicated fans worldwide. She said she came to America's Got Talent because it was the biggest show and because people in England didn't "get" her. Courtney can do all genres, and her covers are better than the original, IMO. Her latest 3 covers on her VEVO channel are of more contemporary songs. You will get plenty of views if you do more Courtney!

@@CarlosPorv Greetings from America and thank you for a detailed opinion. I am unsure of your main point, and this is certainly not the meatiest of topics, but here are my thoughts. I do agree that Got Talent staff do search and invite contestants; otherwise quality would be much lower. America's Got Talent (AGT) has been the #1 summer reality show in America for over a decade, and is just the most watched of the huge Got Talent franchise which has grown so much worldwide that it is in the Guinness Book of World Records. Its same familiar format is broadcast in over 180 countries. There is a Got Talent Spain, for instance. KZbin reactors worldwide react to talents from AGT and many other countries' Got Talent shows. These reactors and millions of their viewers are all familiar with AGT and other Got Talents. In spite of their many millions of global viewers, however, in a world of over 7.7 billion people it stands to reason that not everyone would be familiar with Got Talent. Although I do agree there is general direction and manipulation in all so-called reality shows to heighten the entertainment level, I am not a believer of a conspiracy to force detailed scripts on contestants. As for Courtney, many videos of interviews and activities of Courtney and family and friends, establish that she felt shamed by many of her peers who made fun of her 1960s-70s music and dancing. Often she has stated that Americans would "get" her, unlike the British. I don't believe that was scripted. She also knew AGT was the most watched of such shows, and that her musical roots were in America. Courtney is quite smart and studies her craft assiduously; she has said many times she wants to move to America and bring her family with her. Courtney is fantastic and the only person I follow closely on the Internet. Good to chat with you.
@rickrhoden15 жыл бұрын
@@CarlosPorv Yes, totally agree that AGT is very transparent about seeking good talents and doesn't mind if they have been on previous shows. That made it all the more ridiculous that some people online complained that AGT was diabolically secretive about Courtney being on previous shows. I don't think AGT is a common career goal globally. It is just that Courtney is very goal-directed and becomes aware of opportunities like AGT. Also, it is true that teenagers are very sensitive to the perception of being criticized, but, after all, one's perception is one's reality. BTW, your English is quite good--waaay better than my Spanish!

Great reactions! The audience went wild. The internet went wild. Simon said, "Bloody hell," and his eyes nearly popped out of his head. She didn't win AGT, but a day after it ended, Simon signed her to his record label and also to Arista Records. She returned once more for AGT's Championship show and performed an original song called, "Pretty Little Thing." She is currently working on her debut album which should be released soon.

If you'd like to see her do more of the classic rock pieces and her awkward-cool dancing, I'd suggest these couple of covers of hers - 1.) "Papa's Got A Brand New Bag" (James Brown) @ AGT show - kzbin.info/www/bejne/mWjXhmSZbdujjJo 2.) Yes, my reaction was the same. AGT KZbin has shown this over 57 million times. I love the way Courtney dodged the "What Kind of music" question. Any answer she could have offered would have destroyed the surprise. I noticed her focused stare at the floor as she shifted gears to become Janis. She had been "busking" (street performing for money), for music lessons, around the UK, with her father, since she was nine. "Cortz" is definitely smarter than the average busker. She only made it to sixth place, with AGT, but the next day, she and her dad were invited to Simon's home and then she signed to a contract with Syco (Simon's label) records, two months later. Besides, one million dollars is an annuity paid in $25,000 dollars payments for 40 years. Her contract has that beat.

Courtney, the question why to America? She was being mocked by the kids in school back home that did not understand her music or liked it. Unfortunately kids are tough sometimes, and it wasn't just not liking a song it was mockery. Her Music in General was not accepted strongly in England so they did come to America to give it another try. You can find a KZbin video that describes it better than I do...I want to add, i really do enjoy your reaction channel...have fun and keep us smilin'

She's like a living, female, persona of Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde. When no music is playing and she isn't singing she seems so timid and frail, but crank up the tunes she morphs into a singing beast who owns the stage. Once the song is over she reverts back so us lesser beings can talk to her again.

Just fyi, one of the reasons she came to AGT instead of BGT was that she thought the US audience would "get her" more, that is her style, than they would in the UK because her music idols were from the US, like James Brown and, of course, Janis Joplin among others. :)
@ReactToTheWorld5 жыл бұрын
Makes a lot of sense. So James Brown and Janis Joplin weren't big in the UK?
@jimbuechler95465 жыл бұрын
@@ReactToTheWorld I only gathered that from interviews Courtney did. Maybe they were big a long time ago, but not so much now. I really don't know for sure, for some reason she and her family thought she would get a better response in the US. Maybe more people would remember those artists in the US and identify her with them. :) I'm an American so really don't know. :)

Her name is Courtney Hadwin and she ended 6th place in last year's AGT. She also ended in 6th place if I am not mistaken in The Voice Kid UK 2017. (I recommend you react to her blind audition of The Voice Kid UK too: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZ-XgHWLq5p0irc). She signed a record deal with Sycho Entertainment in partnership with Arista Records (Both label owned by Sony Music) in December 2019 and currently working non stop on her album (due to debut this year or maybe early next year). She currently recorded a strings of covers while taking some times off her recordings, which you can watch on her youtube channel: kzbin.info/door/J0UIOws33p5zRE6Eul3rlw . Watch a video of James Brown and you will see the main influence for that dancing style. She actually mentioned, during the Voice Kids UK, that seeing one of his videos on KZbin was what influenced her dancing style. Before seeing it she did not move around as much. It was kind of liberating. As noted below she has been releasing some covers recently but her firs album should be out soon. After the AGT appearances Simon signed her to his record label and Calvin Klein began supplying her outfits for modeling.
