OK this is a LONG comment: Actually, @CourtneyHadwin that's a good point. I've ASSUMED that any 'label' recruiting new artists, especially young artists would have training in how to LIVE and SURVIVE as a superstar and while working your way up to be recognized as such. PHYSICAL SECURITY IS A MUST HAVE. You NEED to know how to SAFELY find and hire the PROPER level of protection as your public exposure (e.g., performances, crowds, surprise interviews, planned interviews, press conferences, other published plans to be in place X at time T, etc.). If, as I now fear, they DID NOT TRAIN you in what you'll need and suggest contacts to safely use to get proper security personnel, you need to LEARN. As the artist, IT"S USUALLY UP TO YOU, but I assumed the A&R/'record label' folks SHOULD start the process of training you about what the issues are and where/how/from-whom to LEARN. Now I'm not so sure they did. Please be prepared for when you need Executive Protection personnel at your back. See below. CYBER SECURITY is also a must have skillset with deep organizational support. Both sets of experts are professionals, although many imposters and incompetents also fill this space, so BE CAREFUL and seek EXPERT advice. There are true PREDATORS out there, as I'm sure you've learned. Life in the spotlight is NOT SAFE. Individuals with mental health problems can pose a particularly dangerous threat to young artists, so attention to detail, and to your FELT reactions to situations and people around you, ARE ESSENTIAL. That hair-raising experience you get when Janice Joplin's record starts playing is GREAT. BUT the follicles of the hairs on the NAPE (BACK) of your neck are LITERALLY connected to those parts of your Central Nervous System which we humans inherited from our genetic precursors in the animal world...they're tied right in to the heart of your situational awareness and pattern-recognition capabilities BEFORE YOU CAN EVEN BE CONSCIOUS OF A PROBLEM. PAY ATTENTION when those hairs on the nape of your neck start to raise up. Subconscious pattern matching is automagically going on behind the scenes betwixt your ears, below your level of awareness. In fact, BEFORE your situational awareness capabilities connect to your conscious mind. It's built in, a part of being human. Be aware of transitional spaces: doorways, enclosed hallways, getting in/out of cars, buses, trains, airplanes, passing through gates, getting out of car in a garage without first closing the garage door behind you and shutting down the vehicle...lots to read, lots to learn, and IT MATTERS. YOU MATTER to all of us fans, too. Dont' fret, don't fear, just start to learn, prepare, and plan. Pay attention when out and about or whenever transitioning to safe and comfy surroundings. Be IN the moment when transitioning, attending to adjacent spaces as you transition from a public space to a private or safe space, and vice versa. You've been busking, you already have a 'bunchaton' of street smarts about what's normal, what's not. Let your subconscious handle it, just help it out a bit by paying a little bit of attention to what's going on around you. Sorry, that's the downside of IRL. Don't worry. Learn. Plan. Prepare. Then learn and prepare some more. Planning is about the process, not the plans you come out with at the end. It's thinking through the patterns, the possibilities, the potential viable alternative courses of action. In a way, it's about pre-loading that automatic pattern-recognition system that goes on BELOW your conscious mind with many patterns so it can recognize them and other variants like them when they occur. In truth, plans never survive their use when you need them. Something else ALWAYS happens. Remind yourself to allow yourself to be ADAPTABLE, let your actions FLOW just as if you were listening to music and dancing, and let your instincts help you when the unthinkable happens. Mindset matters in such situations. Learn. Prepare. Don't fear. Don't worry. As for security folks, BUDGET THEM IN FROM THE START, especially when touring or doing pre-announced guest appearances. I've worked with some truly exceptional people irl, who often wind up in such EP companies, so I've heard SOME of the issues. I'm not qualified to advise you, only to WARN you to LEARN and remind you about the above factors. First, LEARN. DO NOT WORRY
