When I think about all of the pain that the conspiracists and the media put her through back then, and still put her through today, it makes me want to scream. That woman was GRIEVING. She was going through the worst time of her life publicly, while raising a baby, while being suspected of murder even though this was such a clear cut case of “unaliving”, that it never even had to be investigated as a murder. The autopsy was such irrefutable proof that he fired the gun himself. And I’m so mad that his personal medical files even became public, because it didn’t do much good anyway. The conspiracists _still_ believe she had something to do with it. I hate that these people call themselves “fans”. They’re simply mindless, misogynistic idol worshippers of the worst variety. These people will always believe what they want to believe, regardless of proof. All I can do is let it go and try not to let it bother me.

She made no attempt to come out to Europe to visit him with Frances when he was on tour. He hadn't seen the two of them for over 60 days until Rome. He was deeply upset at rumors she was cheating. He'd start concerts out by playing "My Best Friend's Girl". Once he bowed out of playing Lollapalooza, it was all over. The "Intervention" they had for him was all attended by Gold Mountain and Geffen execs. He couldn't deal with constantly being on the road, having to deal with a histrionic spouse who taunted him with threats of infidelity, a child who no longer recognized him, half a dozen failed stints in rehab, bandmates who were resentful to him because he retroactively cut their royalties. Too much, too fast.

The copycats were terrible for sure. Interestingly though, suicides in general actually slowed down in the wake of his death. There’s an interesting newsweek article about this suicide researcher named David Jobes. He was at a suicide prevention convention with a bunch of other researchers when the news of his death broke. He said they expected to see a huge rise in suicides but instead they saw an immediate decline in the weeks following his death. And they even saw suicide rates decline in the years following his death. So, in some ways, he saved a lot of lives when he took his own.

I will never forget the day Kurt died. It was the first time I cried over a *celebrity. I was so devastated I couldn’t watch or listen to Kurt for some years. He was an icon for our generation (X) and meant so much to so many people that truly loved him. He was a brilliant man, highly intelligent, funny, kind, real, and an incredible talent. Even the younger generations do not understand. I never felt Courtney had anything to do with his death and I’m sure went thru hell along with being blamed for Kurt’s death. She loved him dearly. From what I've heard Kurt was gonna break up with her because he found out she cheated on him also people have said he "Cried when playing the song Where did you sleep last night." at one of his final concerts, oh and their daughter wasn't with them all the time because Kurt's parents took care of her mostly mainly cause they were both doing bad stuff around her.
