I would like to hear more about chelating agents, and ingredients that provide hold / prevent frizz (I don't know what category that is). On a general note: when I started the curly girl method (about 3 months ago), I decided all these ingredients are just too much to keep up with. At this point, however, I am keeping an ingredients list with all different types of ingredients and their function. Now I got to add a bunch of new information and am a bit more knowledgeable than I was about 30 minutes ago. Thank you so much for taking the time to sort out your knowledge and information, and present it in a way that is such a joy to watch! I really enjoy your videos. There is something about the way you talk that makes you so real - like you are the girl living next door. I don't think a lot of other youtubers have that, so definitely keep on doing what you are doing!

I would love to see a video about emollients! In particular the differences between “natural emollients” like butters,oils, and silicones, and why the first ones are considered to be better, do they work differently? I really hope it makes sense, science isn’t definitely my field😂🙌🏻

I am sooo happy I found this channel, and find if so endearing how much you know, and care for your curly hair. I am a feel is fine curly girl, and have STRUGGLED so much with products and styling. Nothing worked, or the products always were either too much for my hair or not enough. UGH! I feel upon one if your videos re: co washing last week, and heard you speak about the As I Am co wash, and was intrigued. I’ve spent, and wasted, SO much money on products and was convinced that the co wash would also fail me, but since it is cheap I figured I could waste the 8 bucks, lol! WOW! My hair was sooooo easy to style and mange for 3 to 4 days this week, and I used it again in wash day the other day, and I’m also experiencing the same results. As a styler I use the Innersense I Create Life Fisk, and a touch of the Innersense leave-in, and now I love the products when I thought they were not working. I did not realize how much my curls needed the As I am hydration, and I am floored, LOL! Thank you so much for your knowledge, and I need the learn so much more from you. :) Especially regarding of my hair needs treatments or protein? I am so glad I found your channel. -Quincey

This video is really amazing Courtney! Now I understand surfactants! Thank you!! Is the Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Isethionate also anionic? You should try the Briogeo Scalp Revival Shampoo it has two anionic surfactants Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate and Sodium Methyl Oleoyl Taurate in it and exfoliating beads plus bentonite clay. I really like it for a deep cleanse its very good for my oily scalp. Also love the Curlsmith Detox Shampoo very much makes my hair so soft and shiny

Will olefin sulfonate clean even non soluble silicones like dimethicone? Or do I need to use a sodium Laurly/laureth sulfate ? Is it bad to use a Leave in conditioner with dimethicone in it for a week before washing? Would love to hear your take on this

Back in college, I destroyed my hair because I didn't realize how stripping clarifying shampoos are. I used to use it every time I washed my hair. It ain't good. It ain't good at all. Once I realized, "hey, I'm not supposed to use clarifying shampoos all the time cause it will strip my hair," I stopped using it. Don't do that. It's not good. Lol! Seriously though.

This video has been helpful. I have been slowly going into the curly girl method over the past year or so. With surfactants its scares me alot to give up my trusted soduim loreal sulfate as i get a greasy scalp that leads to itching if not regularly removed. What are some actual curly girl surfactants ingredients should i look for that will help as i am really looking into surfactants now that i ditched all silicones (best decision i have made for my hair).
@HennyStruik

The number of surfactants in a shampoo isn't important because In general the total percentage of surfactants in a shampoo doesn't exceed 30%. A manufacturer can put 10 different surfactants in a shampoo, without being more harsh than a shampoo with just one surfactant in it.

Hi! I love you hair! I feel like mine has potential to look like yours one day if I follow the curly girl method. I just wanted to know if you recommend the Raw Sugar line sold at Target? I read the ingredients for them and it seems they contain a lot of alcohol, usually in the first 5 ingredients and sometimes more than 1. That seems harsh to me but I'm not an expert so I was hoping you could give me some guidance? I am in the market for a new hair care routine.

mitzaline but did you know that the text in the description box was written by someone else? There’s a reason sponsorships are required to be noted in both the video and the description box-because people don’t always watch full videos or open description boxes. It would take zero effort to note that the list (including all of those parenthetical comments) was taken directly from someone else’s work. I’m not sure why this is such a radical concept to people.

@@corrinamarie454 If you watched the end of her video she did actually say she is going to link a bunch of Science-y Hair Blog's articles in the description box below, which she didn't, which shows she most likely just forgot to include the link. If she said it in the video it was most likely an accidental oversight not her trying to pass of the work as her own.
@corrinamarie454
@corrinamarie454 4 жыл бұрын
Savannah it’s now been almost a week. If it was a simple oversight it should have been corrected. The text is an almost verbatim replication of a 2016 blog post. I don’t know about anyone else, but I knew by the time I was in middle school that it was necessary to cite sources, especially when directly copying/quoting. This was the first video I ever attempted to watch by this individual, and I refused to finish watching it after seeing the description box. If she cannot address and correct an “oversight” after a week, then I get the impression that she has no desire to do so.
