I’m 71 years old and just starting my dream of hiking the PCT. Worked 45 years as an ICU / ER Nurse, married 48 years, two sons and 5 grandchildren . Now it’s my time to do what I’ve always wanted to do. I am one year post two knee replacements. Last week I did my first 4 miles on the PCT. Next June, I will be 72 years old, hiking with my 71 yer old brother on the PCT. I am very excited to start my new journey.

@@Vggfdd-kj9kj It is NEVER too late to change. ive been homeless for most of my life due to my family. Unfortunately i had to cut them off and go out on my own. but you meet many great people on your journey. ive now built my house from the ground up. its 10x20 and by no means is it fancy, but its a long way from where i was just 5 years ago. sometimes the hardest thing to do is to start, but its always worth it in the longrun

courtney- i first came across this film as a 17-year-old, fresh out of high school and in the workforce, sad and disillusioned with life and wondering if this was all life would ever be. the magic that you captured in an hour of film caught hold of me and worked its way into my heart...and the dreaming started. two years later and...i cross the bridge into washington today. i came back to this video with a few friends, thinking to revisit the beginning of it all, just before the beginning of the end. thank you for being the first little window into such a beautiful life. thank you.

"And then it's done, your footprints washed away in the rain." When you're older young people will start to ask...what does it feel like to be 50? or 60? or 80? To me it feels like this, you're walking the trail and there are glorious moments and painful ones and the further along you get the more you want to see thru to the end but you feel the bittersweet longing for the excitement of when you started. The wisdom that comes was hard earned but worth the pain and you know as you watch loved ones cross over we were only ever meant to be passing thru.

Incredibly beautiful your film, especially your ending thoughts on reaching Canada. As a young person I also had a yearning to hike, unfortunately the closest I came was a month long ride across country on a motorcycle and a tent plus various artist in residence in various countries. Those memories are always with me at 61 years young. There is a saying in spanish that is “que me quiten lo bailado “ “take away from me the dances” Is a saying relating to the end of life as you look back and only have your memories, and you will definitely have amazing memories. Thank you from Miami for this beautiful film.

Young lady, I want to thank you for making and sharing your video. I’m sure it took a lot of time to put together. Last night I was stressed out. Bills, career, cars, wife, kids, clutter around the house, all the trappings of a western life had pushed and built up around me. I went for a 5 mile run, took a nice cool shower, cracked a cold beer and somehow stumbled across your video. I watched a bit, felt my mind drift off to my home state of California and faded to sleep. This morning I made my coffee and sat in the big chair to watch the rest. I could literally feel the stress continuing to drain out of my body as I watched the rest of your story. I’ve never done the PCT or any long distance hike like that, but it has tickled my imagination for years now. Someday, someday I will join you and the others to earn that hiker smell, look down at my worn down shoes, endure a sore body and the store away memories of sights and experiences that will travel with me for a lifetime, just as they do for you. Thank you again. All the best. Brian

I couldn't keep the tears from flowing watching this. It's been 3 years since my own PCT journey and watching this, so many feelings and experiences came flooding back. It's astounding really to think of how much that experience changed me and the path that I'm on today... and I think a part of me will always be homesick for that 2,650 mile ribbon of dirt that connected us all. Thanks for bringing me back!

"…and then it's done. Your footprints are washed away in the rain. All that remains is your name in a book below the place you longed for and struggled towards for month. And though it's changed who you will be forever, the trail won't remember you. Because after all, you're only ever just passing thru". What an emotional and bittersweat ending. There are also some other PCT-Documentaries with stunning visuals (for example the one of Titouan Le Roux). But, besides the music, it's your story-telling and voice-over that makes this one really special. Thank you for sharing your inspiring and affecting journey (and yes, I also adore the content of Tip Tap 🤩) Hope we see you back on trail soon. Michel aka Crosshair

I usually can’t spend very much time there because it’s so overwhelming that so many never had a chance to experience all of the things that the rest of us who get decades do…

Congratulations on finishing the PCT.... I love peoples own stories and adventure channels better than professional television. Great job with narration and editing. I was actually sad at the end....Hope to see more adventures from you in the future.....

I dont know why but this video has already made me tear up a few times and im barely 15 minutes in. Something about it is just, so pure and emotional even though its a very happy tone. The music, the narration, the journey; all of it combined has made me cry!

I really like your style of storytelling. After rewatching Tip Tap's series for so many times, it is enjoyable to see, how different people experienced the trail, how they interpret the PCT, show it in their stories. PS. As I noticed, you filmed a lot on DJI Osmo Pocket (beautiful cam). I got it after watching Elina's videos and, as for me, it is probably the best camera for such kind of filming.

Thank you so much! I love Elina’s work and was definitely very inspired by her 😊 yes, the DJI pocket is great, and so easy to just load all your footage into the cloud when you get to town or watch it back on your phone!

After finishing with lots of fire flopping my partner and I stayed at Dougs. He is such a kind soul, it gives me so much joy to hear his name in your video. Thank you for posting such a beautiful summary of your hike, creators like you really help with the post trail depression and loneliness.

I love watching these documentaries.. After many years of physical problems, I'm struggling to get strong enough just to go a few short miles on a hilly dirt road in my carribean country. When I'm out in the sun, sweating and getting tired, I like to pretend I'm on a hike like one in these videos and I've gone hundreds of miles. Somehow it makes me feel stronger and have a crumb more endurance. Thank you.

I’ve been dying to get into thru hiking like this after months of watching videos, training for distance runs and weightlifting for years. I have a 2 year old and I wonder if I’d be able to do this with her. Either way, how do I get into something like this? Where do you even meet people who enjoy stuff like this? I’m too afraid to go alone. I have plenty of friends, just we are all “city people” lol. They don’t like to do stuff like this. But what an inspiring video!!!

Sameeee I’ve been camping and doing backpack and style stuff, my whole life but none of my friends are into it and I don’t know if I could do this alone either - it’s definitely a dream trip to say the least!!!

So many competing thoughts in my head as I type. Courtney - thank you for sharing your journey. I feel like you’ve given all of us who have watch (and those who will watch) a gift! Thank you. What an incredible journey, and while I don’t know you, I’m so proud of you. Gratitude…. Vince - Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Hi Courtney. You've been a huge inspiration (great video). I've watched it several times. So much so, I am now a big fan of the Hunts. (I have the songs in my playlist now and listen to them while hiking) I'm in the 2025 class (or will be) - totally obsessed. I'm an old dog as well (will turn 64 on the trail) and training like a maniac. I'll be as ready as I can be, the rest is up to my body. Lost 90 lbs getting ready. If I didn't lose the weight it would be like piggy backing a teenager through the entire trail. lol Starting a channel and will do regular posts. Thanks again for the video.

best video of a thru-hike I've ever seen. Appreciate all the views of the beauty! I'm 71, used to hike a lot, hoping to get back out there after a knee replacement (used to hike a LOT . . .). Every hike I've ever done remains a treasured memory - you never lose that.

Our stories make us human, and through stories we pass our experiences to each other. Courteney gives us her story, a montage of wondorous landscapes, emotions and many other nameless things that make us human.
