I have 4c hair that's both dense and fine (and I have a big ol head). Basically means that I have a lot of hair on my head, but when they are braided/twisted it looks less full. So I got small two strand twists installed that I get interlocked. I think the final count was around 250. 2 years in and very happy. I think the biggest surprise was just how much my locs expanded over time, but that really helped with the fullness. I think that's something to think about. I think the more dense the hair on your head is, the more your locs will likely expand
@CourtneyGrayton8 ай бұрын
Yes, I actually wish I touched on that in this video but it slipped my mind. They definitely do expand if your hair is more dense! Glad you’re enjoying the journey ❤️
@GoingIntoBattle8 ай бұрын
Thank you for mentioning this, I did not take expansion into consideration. So if someone has dense hair, can they start off having micro locs, and then end up having small locks after their locks expanded?

@wendykgosi1493 ай бұрын
Loc size talking from experience is the most crucial decision to make . it’ll determine a lot! iv found through experience that the size needs to be neither too small neither big but thin enough . thicker locks have so many cons and don’t lock quick . Thinner locs loc way faster. I’m 4 months in thin locs bigger than sisterlocs of course and they locked so fast plus they retain the retwist for so long. Love them. With my thicker locs I had previously , the retwist will last 1 day only. I cut them and started afresh. happier now with small size plus it’s neater and more volume. Goodluck !

I made this set smaller for more volume and I will probably keep them shorter to reduce the weight as they get longer. I have 4a hair. I made the back the size of a small pencil (smedium) and the perimeter and middle are large small locs if that makes any sense. I interlock the small locs and semi freeform the locs in the crown.

I have 150 locs and everyone thinks they’re sister locs but sister locs are usually 200+ I thought?! Even 300+. My locs are only a year and a couple months old . Maybe as they mature they’ll look less like sister locs? I wanted my locs small for versatility reasons. I was aiming for small locs. More scalp access (I have psoriasis), more versatility, less scalpy look, more fullness. My hair is fine with medium/low density. I wouldn’t have minded going slightly bigger and maybe aim for 130/125 locs but I love how they are now. My 151 are perfect lol

150 should be fairly full! And usually after a retwist starter locs do look much skinnier. I personally would tell you to keep misting every few days but just don’t drench your hair with water. She probably suggested it because it might make her job easier, but the hair needs hydration!

Question: If someone with 3B (and some 3A & 3C) hair (a little bit past my shoulders) decided to start with microlocs, do you know what the length would look like?
@CourtneyGrayton3 ай бұрын
It honestly depends on the method you use to start them. If you start with twists, just imagine whatever your hair shrinks to when it’s wet, is probably the length the locs will be.

🙋🏽♀️ QUICK QUESTION: Should I take my Locs out completely and start over to make them smaller?? Or is splitting my Locs into smaller ones possible? I’m getting so many mixed answers on KZbin! Either way will reach out for consult when I return to DMV ❤

I think I’m about to sister loc my hair but can’t tell the difference between micro and sister
@CourtneyGrayton4 ай бұрын
Sisterlocs are much smaller and are interlocked from root to tip, vs microlocs which are most commonly twists that are only interlocked at the root

How do you comb out locs if you want to start over?
@CourtneyGraytonАй бұрын
Saturate with conditioner and slowly comb out using a fine tooth comb

@CourtneyGrayton Can sisterlocks be switched over to microlocs. Having trouble finding a sister lock consultant & frankly am tired of being held hostage by the technique. I want options when it comes to a loctician. Thanks in advance.

I started my interlocs a month ago and I am already feeling like they’re not going to look full enough. I have about 70 total. I was wondering if I should start over and get them smaller (like microlocs) or if there is anyway to split them? I love the look on an individual scale but as a whole, i don’t see them growing full
@CourtneyGrayton4 ай бұрын
Yea, 70 is not typically enough for a full look. You’d have to do them over if you wanted them smaller tho

Idk if you will see this-but I really want sister locs and I love how there small but for me I definitely no questions asked want locs that will be able to cover my face.Are sister locs able to do that? If not are there any time of other locs that are like sister locs and will be able to cover my face? Thank you
@CourtneyGrayton29 күн бұрын
What do you mean cover your face? Like a bang? Can you explain what you’re looking for a little more?
@St00pysapnap27 күн бұрын
Yes kinda like bangs. For example how what I call “nonchalant dreads.” They cover the face and what I mean by cover the face is like eyes, forehead. Nose. Kinda like that.
