People generally speak English fluently in Sweden and since we are so exposed to English online, games, movies, tv-shows etc (because nothing is dubbed), a lot of young people mix English words/phrases when talking to each other just bc it’s easier. Also, loved this reaction ☺️

That song at the end is so powerful, it makes me cry every time! Perfect song choice. And the fact that they used the same song for the football field scene, brings back those memories of when he was so vulnerable and realised how fake everything in his life is. There were always tidbits about Wilhelm that showed how much of a good king he would be. Even before his brother died. Like how he addressed Alexander when he first met him or when he told the boys at dinner that they’re allowed to share their opinion. There’s also the fact that he introduced himself to Simon, and approved of his opinion, which shows that he doesn’t mind talking to people from a lower class and considers their point if view. It’s a great quality for a future king. Or the way he handled the drug debacle. How he knew that Alex would be alright and it would be worse for Simon to lose his scholarship which could ruin his entire future. That shows great judgement for a future king! And i mean the fact that he helped August…even though August was a complete dick shows the level of compassion Wilhelm has towards people. He’s a great kid. How he reacted towards August’s betrayal to me was not surprising. He’s always good at using his words. What is sad though is him learning that his compassion has no place in the royal family and how in the end it’s all about saving face and not what he needs to pursue a happy normal life. I mean look at Prince Harry! More drama in season 2! Can’t WAIT.
@lynnhettrick75882 жыл бұрын
1:14 Not just a leaked sex tape, not just being outed, but it's also their first sexual experience with each other. That honeymoon phase of relationships was forever tainted by August's betrayal. Everyone should be able to look back at their first sexual experience with fondness and a warm feeling in their heart. This was taken away from Simone and Wilhelm.

Yeah I think it really shows wilhelms development, becoming a smarter Prince by using his words to inflict damage knowing exactly what would hurt August most.
@readwritehike28693 жыл бұрын
I also think it's interesting the parallels with the scene in episode 2 when August asks Wille to repeat his "sorry," just like Wille does here when he asks, "you're sorry," like, that's all. It's crazy that August's sorry is no more sincere than Wille's: Wille missed practice and left the school to hang out with Simon while August created and posted a sex tape of Wille online and destroyed his relationship and made difficulties for his reputation. The juxtaposition just highlights August's pettiness.

One of the things I like about this series is that the characters are largely played by actors who are the same age as the characters (surprisingly, Omar Rudberg, who plays Simon, is about four years older than Edvin Ryding, who plays Willhelm, but he almost looks younger). And they are allowed to look the way teenagers really look, something that is also true of “Skam.” My favorite character in season three of “Skam” is Isak, the main character, who is brilliantly played by Tarjei Sandvik Moe, though I like the character of Sana a lot, too. Both shows give evidence that there are some really fine young actors out there. I also think that the times they are speaking English (and this happens in “Skam,’ too) are often references to American pop-culture that they would be aware of. From what I understand, kids are taught English as well as their own native language in schools in both Norway and Sweden, and some of them are quite fluent; I’ve seen interviews with actors on both shows, and Edvin Ryding in particular is as fluent in English as any British or American native.

awesome reaction! have watched a heap of reactions to this series and yours has been incredible and interesting to listen to. you point out when sara and simon are talking at the table and having a go at each other about how good they are at acting given their ages. it's phenomenal to know that this is omar rudberg's (who plays simon) first acting gig. his talent is incredible - and i think we all see that through the range of emotions he is able to convey with his body language and eyes alone. i can't wait to see more of him in the future. in addition to joey saying that he didn't like his singing - it's fair to say because he didn't see him at his best (which is in season 2). i think most people will agree that omar (simon) is an incredible singer, but this isn't fully shown until season 2 when he sings "simons song." you see the amazing musical talent that he has, especially when he's just singing on his own. as you're probably well aware now (since the reactions are a year old) omar is a successful artist in sweden and had toured extensively, opening for the likes of one direction and justin bieber when he was in a boy band. keep up the awesome videos!

I can't speak for sweden, but here in norway it's quite common to mix english while speaking, at least for me and the ones around me. (like, i use english so much that i've forgotten the norwegian words for some things. i recently had to write an english word with the sentence "(i don't remember the norwegian word)" behind it on a test for school. we learn english pretty early on, some even before they start school. my niece was pretty good by age four and she could communicate pretty well with people who came to visit from the uk and even family from the philippines. also, what kinda bothers me with the whole sara and august situation (as well as her behavior this episode) is that simon changed schools for her (from what i could gather) and he left his friends, just so that they could be together. and i get that she doesn't want to go back to a school where she was so bulled that she was afraid to even go to school and even had to retake a year, but she could be a little more conciderate of his situation as well, don't make it worse. and the whole "people don't like me when i'm myself" thing. they do tho?? felice became her friend without her having to change, and then she spends one night there and suddenly that's everything that matters. what simon did, with the whole going behind her back to talk to their dad and all that, wasn't right either, since she doesn't take kindly to secrets, but it's still a dick move to go behind your brothers back to make out with someone who ruined his life. simon doesn't even know it was august who did it because nobody told him.

@athenare3132 жыл бұрын
🙄🙄really?
@treetzar11073 жыл бұрын
A huge preamble then three specific things where I minorly disagree with you. People with Autism Spectrum Disorder can have very rigid ideas about the world. Simon seeing their dad could legitimately be a huge deal for Sara, along with her argument that their Mom not getting them away from Dad much earlier being completely unforgivable, it's the same response of not being able to forgive transgressions that others may see as minor. A related idea is that these high status people saying you should dress up for dinner meaning you absolutely should, and that flexibility and casualness aren't of any value compared to understandable rules. The school is a desirable place to live because everyone else says so, even though it probably won't be a good place for her to live by a nuanced reading of who is happy and loved compared to who is stressed and lonely. ASD in women is known to lead to poor romantic choices, in particular relationships where they give a lot of love and get nothing in return, as bipolar disorder in women can lead to poor/risky sexual choices. Mental health issues in women can play out very differently than the same condition in men. (As can a number of health conditions in women but that's way off topic.) She could commit to adoring August and enjoying being with him on the basis of very little effort or love from his side. Another gap for ASD women is a whole lot of female friendship skills. Sara very likely doesn't know that she has done something terrible to Felice in being with August. But she also doesn't know that she has done something terrible to herself in getting involved with a man that Felice has discarded for very good reasons, because she hasn't yet learned to trust other women's judgement, in this case Felice's judgement. 1. You said Simon grounds Sara, but I think it goes both ways. I think her timing is perfect to give him a kick up the arse about letting Wilhelm piss on him. I think she helps Simon stand up for himself and set boundaries. She may need to learn some of Simon's adaptability to help her handle the world successfully, but he also needed a lesson in rigidity. 2. Sara looking at August in the church. You thought it was her regretting her decision to let Simon down by being with August. I don't think she's ready to regret being cross at Simon, but also I read her look as quizzical. I think she's wondering about why being with someone she desired wasn't any good. Quite early in the kissing scene she's looking away and not caught up in it. We know from scenes with Felice that he's not good in bed, so her experience would not have improved as kissing progressed to sex, and August wouldn't have stopped. "If he's desirable, why was that not any fun?" 3. I think the ending is electric. Wilhelm trying to love bomb Simon and it not working. Simon standing his ground with such dignity and not arguing, just wishing him the best for Christmas, which Wilhelm then thanks him for, it's like there is a whole other conversation going on under that exchange. Wilhelm is defiantly doing this in front of everyone, Wilhelm is clearly not planning on going along with his Mother's edicts, even as we know he may lose a few more rounds. Then Wilhelm breaking the fourth wall, pissed as hell and not willing to take it anymore, seeing us seeing him. I agree with you the song choice is extraordinary, more so that it links back to the soccer field scene where Wilhelm first really showed how strongly he is attracted to Simon. It almost the theme song of their romance, but maybe more specifically the theme song of Wilhelm making progress towards defining himself. Slightly off topic, but I think of Erik as Wilhelm's father, and their parents as grandparents. Erik was the only source of touch and support for Wilhelm, he doesn't get either of them from the Queen and their father, and he so desperately needs them. Wilhelm has lost his only close family. There is a crucial moment, that I only noticed on the millionth rewatch, in episode one when August is overly familiar with Wilhelm and touches his face, Erik reaches a hand out to Wilhelm and grips his shoulder, it's not just a soothing touch it's a soothing grip. There's knowledge and compassion in that that no-one could ever replace, and definitely not the mother that hits his hand to get his finger out of his mouth when he's anxious, in that the same episode. There's also the cute scene when Wilhelm has his finger in his mouth when he's with Erik, so Erik realises there's no point continuing the photo op and has them run away. Erik is the loving father than maintains a relationship but also applies pressure via that relationship, the parents are distance authority figures that think that their authority should be enough to guide Wilhelm without there being a much of a direct relationship.

Very good and articulated points but I will slightly contradict one of your points on Sara she does feel guilt for her actions , this was shown earlier in the series when August kissed her and she told felice which she was then supported for as she understands the concepts of morality I think she would already know that her desires for August are wrong and as she finds it difficult to falter on what she understands to be right and wrong. I understand your points that she becomes fixated on certain aspects of life that she see a better because people she views as better have them. My brother is on the autistic spectrum and I see alot of traits in Sara in him.

this is true but i don't want to fault wilhelm for it. this is the first time he's falling in love with a boy (which he never knew was a possibility for him before) or at all, really, and fate decided to throw so much shit at him right there and then so he's got a lot (too much) to navigate through that he can't fully be in his relationship. at the same time everything simon said in the break up scene was correct and good for the both of them and for now, they're better off not being together. as much i like wilhelm and this couple, like simon i can't imagine being with someone who couldn't fully commit to our relationship, no matter the reasons but especially if part of them are hesitancy about being together openly.

Oh man, this is way after the fact. Watching your reactions to this show again (really enjoyed) and felt I wanted to comment. One of the sad things about YR is not being able to talk to someone about it. For me, the best thing about YR is the writing (although the acting is brilliant). Lisa Ambjörn (the head writer) does a masterful job with Wilhelm's growth arc. The confrontation scene with August is Wilhelm's first decision where we see him as the future King. As with all the characters in this story, it's not a perfect decision (he throws Alexander under the bus) but it's the decision he feels he has to make. That is also true of his final decision which goes against his heart but also is his duty and, really, protects Simon because since (theoretically) Crown Prince Wilhelm is not in the video, in a week or so, no one will care. Speaking of the acting and you may already know this, Edvin Ryding who was 17 at filming, is an established actor (and brilliant in this) but this was Omar Ryding's acting debut. And I think he is also brilliant as Simon. By the way, as you probably also know, he is quite a famous singer/dancer in Sweden and so is not unfamiliar with performing. My take on what Lisa was trying to say in this story is that privilege corrupts everything. If you should happen to read this, what do you think?

It's pretty normal for teens to mix english in with their native language. My native language is german but due to being exposed to english all the time through media and being online I have a bad case of denglisch (aka deutsch (german) + english). I think it's probably even more so the case for scandinavian countries because movies and stuff there isn't dubbed.
@Courtney-Jai3 жыл бұрын
That makes alot of sense I think it just seems weird to me because typically in England people just speak English where in Europe most people speak their native language + English so it comes more naturally.

@Courtney-Jai3 жыл бұрын
Thats your take but I don't agree with felice it was about social status , with Sarah you see her at multiple points in the series longing for August he represents everything she wants wealth , power and being seen as upper class but also she has shown multiple times she is drawn to him with attraction case and point at the sleep over when she finds a picture of him.

My predictions: 1 - More family weight inheritance for everybody = -Simon with Sara behavior, and Micke. -August with his royal place, his land heritage, and his future (school ending for him). -Sara with her inheritance denial. -Felice with her fight against what is imposed on her. -Wilhem with his fight against what is imposed on him (you see the parallel her with Felice), and finding his way through his royals obligations 2 - More mental health issue for everybody = -Micke addictions -Sara Asperger -August OCD -Wilhem anxiety ... 3 - More social class debate = -Simon fighting alone now against upper class rejection -Sara rejecting her working class even more -Wilhem still being a link between upper and working class -Felice link between upper and working class -August fighting to stay in the upper class 4 - More emotional/intense relation ships = I will guess some duets in that one, without defining the extend of it . * Relation up = (love or friendship) Sara & August Wilhem & Felice Simon & himself (sorry) *Relation down = August & Wilhem Sara & Simon Sara & Felice (Simon & Wilhem being "in hold", but supporting each other from a far) What do you think of these predictions?

Super late watching YR, but I wish that Simon and Wilhelm had been treated with more sympathy when it came to that video being made and released. They were minors who were victimized and had porn of them made and distributed, without their consent... It would be illegal to watch or host the video online because it's literal child porn, right? I'm guessing the queen was the first to hear about the result of the police investigation and that's how she knew August was responsible and she still decided her family's reputation was more important than her son's well-being. If she were a decent mother she would have used all her resources to make August pay. Even if August decided to say it was Wilhelm in the video as revenge, he'd also be admitting he'd committed a crime and have his reputation and life ruined even if he didn't face prison time. If the queen had just been honest I think it would have been great for her family's public image in the end and made her look like a decent human being, or maybe I'm missing something.

I think august genuinely feels guilty but what he told to wilheim was definitely in order to not get busted. I’m curious to know if his mother actually cared that he is into boys or if it was purely to protect the throne, and also if she would have accepted wille had Eric still been alive. She never specifically mentioned it being a guy she was just trying to stop the scandal. That would be nice to discover in young royals season 2

The actor who plays Simon, Omar, plays for the first time actually, impressive right. The actor who plays Wilhem, Edvin, has played for 12 years. YR was his first lead role. He helped Omar with it if I understood correctly, but Omar is a natural. And what a chemistry you are right. You are right Simon makes him better. I feel Wilhem admire the freedom of speech and of act he is not allowed to have himself, and tries to take a bit in his own behavior..with difficulty ok. What do you think. On Simon side, I think he is surprised by the humble and sensitive personality of Wilhem, because he was expected elitism. What do you think? And of course physical attraction on both side. I kind of think that the part of the statement about gay-straight could be from Wilhem's mind, a way to say he wouldn't be ashamed about that part of him? True his mother is manipulative, using Erik death.... I think Sara is a well fit with August. I know it is not cool to say that. But they have some issues in common : they want to be more than they are, they are ashamed about the working class, and they are jealous about their friend (Felice for her, Wilhem for him), and they play a role. I am curious where this will go after. It will be strange I guess if they are together out. Ok they still love each other, it is pretty clear, even if they are not able/allowed to live their love.Their public hug say everything I believe, that they assume to love each other after all, that they are in pain, and that they will miss each other. After, why everybody expect Simon to erase his decision to stay away from Wilhem, declaring his feelings? It wouldn't make sense, would it? Ans Simon has a nice thought, because yes it will be a really sad Christmas for Wilhem with his brother dead, so he needs some courage. Thanks Simon. About Simon and Wilhem chemistry; it is crazy yes. I put it on the scenario quality, which develop 3D personalities, which feels real. I put it also on the details of the gestures and behavior we actually have when falling in love, quite relatable too. Then I put it on the actors crazy skills to make their relation believable. And finally, an extra which helps too, is the effective closeness of the two actors in real life disclosed, which explodes through the screen, and makes it easy to believe. You are right, Wilhem is in the same situation that the beginning, and they give some hints of it (little details to show the parallel). It is about the main theme of the show the writer said : the weight of family inheritance. And that is the big one for him : with big responsibilities come loneliness. For the weight of inheritance theme, you can see it for each character in a different way, if you look closely. Oh I didn't seen that. Using his words instead of his hands. Yes it gives us an hint on the following. He will maybe dig in his king duties, like we could see him make royal decision, attend to politic events...? I agree too in the other aspect of him which could be developed, his rebellion to let the crown at side or update it, for his individual happiness. I guess the duality crown duties / his happiness, will deepen. I asked myself how we can be so many people to relate to his experience, then to the show, because royalty is not us? But actually I believe the relatable topic is trying to be as the same time: happy being yourself & answer to what the society pressure you to be. And that is a universal dilemma for those who ask themself the question I guess. What do you think? The only thing I don't like it is that the villain (august), takes too much room in the story, and kind of shadow many relations/stories.

i get why the queen did what she did but i do not like they way she went in handing it shes gonna end up hurting Wilhelm in the long run in telling him to keep him and Simon under wraps, she knew what august did and she didn't tell Wilhelm about it i cant to see how season two handles this whole thing

Just wondering cause I've been with a bi guy before and was cheated on. He wanted both. Could you pick one and never think about being with the other for the rest of your life?

*Fun thing/s to think about:* So, you know how much August cares about power? Combine that with the fact that he literally said in one of the earlier episodes ‘we could murder someone and no one would say a word’, and that Erik died shortly after? Plus, what are the chances they’d let the *crown prince* drive himself around with no security who are at least vaguely first aid trained? Also, he intentionally ruined Wilhelm’s reputation, while remaining on good terms with the queen. - - *What if* August killed Erik & ruined Wilhelm’s reputation so he could become king..?

Please help me, or some advice.

Well its sounds like you have a crush there's not really much for me to say other then , that yes you do sound like your open to being bisexual. As you said before your friend said you could be bicurious now if you were just mentally attracted to them but not physically attracted it could be that your biromantic. It's really comes down to how the person make you feel your really thr only who going to know if your actually bisexual or not maybe next time you see them Start a conversation with them get to know them a but more and see if you get butterflies while doing so. If it comes easy that you don't want stop and you could talk to them about everything its usually a good sign your attracted to them.
