Most of the actors for Young Royals did the English dubbing so it is their voices. I also listened in Swedish with the English subtitles for the most part but the dubbing isn’t as bad for this show the way it is for like, for example, Elite where it’s unwatchable

Some characters speak Spanish and English in the show so if you watch in original Swedish audio, you'll get the language switching too which I think adds a huge dynamic.

I think in Swedish we get to see the actors emotions shine through much more because it's their native language as with English it can be much harder to portray the emotions when it's their second language and it's difficult to redo the raw emotions felt in the scene even though it's the same actors speaking in English

The dubbed version is a bit better for this because they did it themselves (the same actors), but the original audio will always be better, because it is the language they used when they were there in the moment of the scene, living it and feeling it, and portraying their emotions through their words, bodies, etc. That's why, in my opinion, dubbing is always a disservice to the actors who tried so hard to convey something through speech. Maybe they were about to cry and their voices cracked, you know, there's no way you could ever convey this while dubbing, because you're not feeling what the actors were feeling. No disrespect to voice actors, btw. This is just my personal opinion. Thanks for asking us for our opinion, though. I appreciate it.

I kinda disagree. The stuff you mentioned can very well be conveyed by voice actors who listen intently to the actors and then are able to incorporate that in their performance. There are a LOT of VA's that can do that, actually (I don't know any english speaking ones unfortunately). That's why I also think that skilled VA's > the original actors.

And still, I have to agree with the original comment, it just won’t ever be able to compete with the „real thing“. No matter how passionate the voice actor is, for me, the fact that the words don’t match the movement of the lips is already enough to take me out of it completely.

That was wild! I've never seen the series in English and that felt wrong somehow, Swedish is so beautiful and somehow the whole thing is more authentic then. But I can understand that with a reaction it's more relaxed not to have to read everything exactly. I've already watched the series at least 5 times through and even if I find it a bit less "fluffy" than Heartstopper there is a similar up and down between belly tingling and heartache. I would say watch it in Swedish, it hits way harder because you get the full tonal inflection on words and phrases which I think can be lost in subbing. Like it will literally make you want to learn Swedish, that's how bomb it is, in its original audio. Also I don't think Wille is stubborn. He just a highly anxious teenager. Like I can totally relate to the type of dibilitating anxiety he suffers from😔 Also I fully love the fact that you didn't like August from the get go 😂 #FUAugust

In terms of the dubbing, I always prefer to watch shows in their original language because you lose a lot of the genuine emotion otherwise.
