as someone who uses a wheelchair, i can say with absolute confidence that it is considered "ugly". some days i'm able to walk (slowly, with a lot of help, and there's a lot of sitting down involved), and oh my god the difference of reactions i get. in the chair, he must be lazy/ a cripple/ deformed; out of the chair, ive had people confidently ask for my number. shopping for anything is a nightmare- i've been in stores and have customers make *ugh* and *ew* noises while staring directly at me, and half the time the staff refuse to even acknowledge my existence. public transportation is impossible if you're really antisocial, have a speech impediment or disability, or just have social anxiety (extremely common, by the way, from incessant bullying and being told you're a burden, plus whatever got you there in the first place). don't get me started on if you need something from someone. anyways, sorry for the rant, i totally agree that the glasses equals ugly trope is so dumb. if the person you want to date needs you to "glo up" you shouldn't be trying to date them.

I hate how many times they diss on her glasses. As someone who wears glasses now myself, I've had more people hit on me and compliment me on my glasses than I did when I wasn't wearing any glasses. Glasses can totally be stylish and sexy and to some people, it comes off as intellectual. You can also get different sized frames to suit your face that compliment your face shape.
