@@musicplaylists59 well she had one top 40 hit in the 70s called one tin soldier, which was basically a hippy fairytail she sung for a movie. Its still coven biggest hit till today. They didnt realy got any fame until recent since the metalheads see jinx as the original queen of shock- rock

See, I am someone who thinks that the early christians tried to shed light on the hidden psychological/ metaphysical principles that mostly remain in the dark. As long as we are not aware of, for example the hidden psychological determinants, we are subconciously attached to them. As one can hardly fight an invisible enemy....

So ahead of its time it’s insane. Sounds like the stuff that hairbands were doing from 1979-1987 except it got louder and wilder. Coven were truly pioneers…

There's a ton of hard rock music from the 60's that was way ahead of it's time, that can be found on KZbin today. Most didn't get the recognition they so richly deserve.

Not really into goth or satanic stuff, but musically, this is very under appreciated. I could listen to Jinxy's howling voice all day long... and the rest of the band doesn't get the ups it deserves, either. This is pure class.

Yes. Dio and Osbourne just don't like to admit it, Osbourne especially, since this is the band that inspired him to everything he's ever done, and I don't mean Osbourne there on this album cover. Coven's Osbourne was different.

The band member was named Oz Osbourne, not Ozzy. Ozzy got that name in his youth. Black Sabbath took the name from the english title of an italian horror movie.(I tre volti della paura from 1963). It's a funny coincidence though.

How was Sabbath more plugged into The Beatles? What? Osborne and members of Sabbath were well aware of many musical acts at the time. Coven is widely cited as an influential act. So yea, they were relatively famous at the time

Incredible, one may think that just Black Sabbath started to deal with the satanic stuff, then you have Venom and Mercyful Fate and then Bathory and later the so called Black Metal. This is great even COVEN doing the horns-hand way before Dio (telling that he was doing the Maloquio sign) and after a fight with Kiss' Gene Simmons about who was supposed to introduce the horns into rock 'n ' roll...Great band really, I just discovered them.

Doesn’t this predate Sabbath Paranoid a bit? Why isn’t Coven more highly regarded in the hard/heavy rock scene? Plus I believe they had the first use of the devil’s horns hand gesture. Before Dio, KISS. Check out the artwork for Witchcraft Destroys Minds and Reaps Souls.

Coven deserves a lot more credit. Black Sabbath got a lot of their stuff from them. Even the name “Black Sabbath”… Coven had a song of the same name and a member named Oz Osbourne. When they met, Black Sabbath’s Ozzy was referred to as the new Oz

Jinx has a set of pipes and is beautiful. This band came from my hometown, Chi-Town just a lil before my time. Still love puffin a hog leg and jamming to Coven, Black Widow, Lucifer's Friend, Pentagram, and Sir Lord Baltimore

É parecido, mas esse grupo e vocalista se encaixava no Proto Metal, Jinx era uma versão infernal da Grace Slick. O The Velvet Underground e a Nico criaram toda estética do Post Punk e da música Indie.

Mas mesmo assim é possível dizer que Joy Division tinha muita influência no Black Sabbath no álbum Unknown Pleasures de 1979 e posteriormente esse álbum e o Post Punk influenciaram muito o metal industrial dos anos 90 e a cena de Black Metal.

This is so good. You can just see the confusion of very satanic lyrics but very rock'n'roll' ish riffs. This is the transition to what we know as heavy metal today. I just LOVE it.
