Coventry Cargo Operations

During August 1996 I travelled to Coventry Airport (UK) to visit the Air Atlantique facilities. I stayed overnight and watched the busy cargo operations on the Reed Aviation freight ramp. This was the last year the mighty Vanguard was in operations...so I had to see and hear it for myself.

fantastic video , seeing all those old birds this is real nostalgia. When I know go spotting I do not have that feeling anymore , all those airbus and boeing are all the same. In the sixties and seventies the aircraft had more "spirit" a smokey boeing 707 or dc-8 , covair 440/580, vickers viscounts, hs trident, vc 10 - aviation became very "grey"

Nice video! The sound of those Rolls Royce turboprops caused a whole lot of hearing loss years ago (at least among ramp workers who thought wearing ear protection wasn't 'cool').

I used to work at CVT at the time this vid was taken, and for many years after up until the end of Thompson ops Ahhh memories.
