25:54 - that sounds like one of the sound effects from Lemmings! The selection sound, maybe?
@GouldFishOnGames8 күн бұрын
possibly Lemmings and also its possible its from a sound library. or the same sound designer worked on both, I never did check that!

Never saw Amiga Mania in the local shops, I probably would have liked it. That month, I only got Amiga Power. None of the other disks grabbed me. Here's to you Mr Fish. Hope you have a grand New Years and more deserved channel growth. I hope there's some good cons next year.

Thanks mate, hope you have a great new year! This wasn't the best month for disks, a few fun games but no one out standing magazine.

Bill's Tomato Game was one of my fav Amiga games back in the day. Definitely a challenge! In the WHDLoad version there's an option in the trainer for unlimited tries, which helps immensely.
@GouldFishOnGames8 күн бұрын
Unlimited tries sounds perfect for the game. I never really got on with the limited attempts or time when it comes to these types of puzzle games.

I played the heck out of Galaga '92 back in the day! I remember finding the gray coin powerups incredibly difficult to tell apart on my CRT screen. Seeing it here, I still really have to squint.
@GouldFishOnGames6 күн бұрын
Yeah some of those icons were really difficult to work out, but it was a lot of fun.

Ha ha I just realised I had that copy of Amiga Mania. I remember not minding that dragon game, but I don't think I put much time into it. Amiga Mania was always a good shout if you had a few quid of pocket money burning a hole in your pocket. The mag itself was nowt to write home about but it was a quid cheaper than the good mags and usually had a full commercial game on the coverdisk. If you hadn't had enough money to buy something new for a while it could be a cheap source of new games, even if you could usually buy a decent quality budget game if you saved up another two or three quid. Also screen 2 of that Donkey Kong game has definitely been made way, way harder. In the original game the first time you play through that screen there's hardly any obstacles or enemies whereas this version is throwing loads of them at you.

"Maybe that blank looking disk label might have been useful after all..." hahaha brutal
@GouldFishOnGames7 күн бұрын
That might have been harsher then planned, but it does feel they had that in mind when they didn't put real labels on the disks.

Thank you for this one and happy new year to you. This is takes me back to a simpler Dec, so many great memories..Great to see lethal weapon, I remember really enjoying the game, never finished as my game was cracked and always glitched at a certain point😂. Again cheers for this.
@GouldFishOnGames7 күн бұрын
Happy new year, hope your 2025 is a good one. Lethal Weapon is one of those odd games, where people seem to remember the first level fondly but can't recall the others or even if they ever finished it.

The only Golf game I regularly played was Nick Faldo's. I especially liked the like cheat (majortom) to allow you to play on Mars Never saw Amiga Mania in the shops --- though I did sub to an A5 mail order mag when the others quit.
@GouldFishOnGames8 күн бұрын
Don't recall seeing it either, which might have contributed to its year or so on the market. and playing Golf on mars sounds great!

Thoroughly enjoyable episode, feel this was just on the cusp before I got my Amiga, which was an A1200 bundle with the Nigel Mansell game and Trolls

Same for me, I remember the No Second Prize demo on my Atari ST just before it blew up ... and a month or so later I got an A1200 to replace it (I got the non-AGA Zool bundle with mine, for some reason).

Ahh that Superfrog cover of The One. I remember it well. And the demos too. Those were the days.

Not sure I played that one, but I didn't play many golf games on the Amiga. mostly PGA Tour with my brothers.

26:40 to this day i still haven't scored a single goal in any sensinble soccer games. the fact that many agrees that the cpu cheats like bastard AND YET say that is the best soccer game on amiga..despite the fact you can't score, always perplexed me

I've never been good at football games, I think not enjoying the sport anyway has a bit of an affect. and at this point its a bit of a running joke how bad I am at the game. but I know people who are great at it, so I can only guess there is a knack that we both don't know or have.

I never knew mcdonaldland came out on the Amiga until I watched your vid just now! I played it on the NES and really enjoyed it. The Amiga graphics are a big improvement over the NES version but they seemed to have ruined the music during the conversion (and perhaps the gameplay)

You kindly don't draw attention to the One's Best Disk's ever flash which caused me to investigate that issue a couple of years back. Given none of them make your top 3 let's assume they are not, even if I'm a lot fonder of McDonaldLand than you are.
@GouldFishOnGames7 күн бұрын
Weirdly I actually quite enjoy McDonald Land on the Gameboy, but for some reason I don't quite enjoy the Amiga version. not sure if its some rose tinted glasses or they are just different enough.
