Commodore were great at their software bundles. My A600 came with Putty, Pushover and F1GP. Going from 8-bit Dizzy games to Putty was like going from cave paintings straight to Tex Avery cartoons.

It was quite the jump right! going from playing BBC Micro's at school to that animated intro with the Simpsons was amazing!

Its been so long since I watched the movie and the scene felt like a jail (not that I could remember a jail scene either). I felt so drained after the hoverboard that I really didn't want to play it any more 😉

I had the screen gem pack, and I always new it wasn’t the greatest, but first time ever having a computer and dad got discount as he worked for swebb . I was thrilled still got it to this day and still not completed those nightmare games… but to be far it wasn’t about the games it was the fact of having an Amiga and my uncle giving me a copy of x copy pro, a whole new world was opened up to me😁… thanks for the video

I got the Silica Arcade bundle = Asterix, Chess Player, Drivin' Force, Live and Let Die, Onslaught, Pipe Mania, Rick Dangerous, Rock 'n' Roll, Skweek and Trivial Pursuit. Also inc... Photon Paint 2, GFA Basic Interpreter 3.5.
@GouldFishOnGames6 ай бұрын
I think I spotted that arcade bundle in a few adverts, a few nice games in there. and I swear they were throwing GFA Basic at a bunch of these shop packs as I got a copy with our Cartoon Classics.

I too was a happy owner of the Cartoon Classics pack, and marvelled over the Simpsons intro. I actually enjoyed the gameplay too, I think it was certainly above average as a platformer/side scrolling game. You are right about it being hard though, I don't think I got past the second level. I think the box art was very appealing too, bright red and very bold. Captain Planet had some interesting details but the slow jumping and movement was a bit off putting. Nevertheless it was wonderfully colourful, had pleasant music and stuff like the balloon and the 'geocopter' were cool to play around with, not to mention the special powers of the characters. It always gets slated in reviews but I agree with you about it, it was creative and underrated. And of course Lemmings was superb, and DP III showcased a lot of the Amiga's brilliance. The high quality of Lemmings was well known and probably did a lot to sell the pack, as well as the obvious fame of Bart Simpson. I think it is fair to say, as you did GouldFish, that those three games were all enjoyable and could entertain for a good period of time. We got an extra little software pack with our Cartoon Classics as well (don't know where my dad got it from because it was a surprise Christmas present, best Xmas present ever :)), and I recall Dr Plummet's House of Flux and an educational game from 1986 called Discovery. For 1986 the latter certainly had nice presentation, although at ten years old most of the questions were a bit easy for me.

Loved this video and format. Great stuff, great memories. The pack I got with my Amiga included James Pond (the first one) and Bombuzal and one more game that I can't remember what it was. But I'm not sure if that was an official pack, a quick google search doesn't seem to indicate so. It may just have been something the store, here in Denmark, threw together. Still, can't beat the joy of Amiga.

I was lucky enough to be given the Batman Pack for my birthday which also came with the TenStar pack of games, amazing present. My brother then received the Flight of Fantasy pack and I think they are the best two bundles. Escape From The Planet Of The Robot Monsters is great fun in two player mode and both of the featured Flight Sims are amazing games if you like that sort of thing. Rainbow Islands and The New Zealand Story are also two of the best arcade conversions for the Amiga.
@GouldFishOnGames6 ай бұрын
those were great packs and the arcade conversions were great. No doubt about it. Very nice on you and your brother getting those packs!

That was an odd combination of games, was the seller just randomly picking games!

Ah, shadow of the bast as I called it. Even when I found out the cheat code, if you didn't play the game as the developer intended, to the letter and not collect every single coin before it disappeared off-screen you were boned. Harder than peeling an apple with a Mars bar. Thanks for the video. Got some solid, happy memories from some of these games.

Even as a six year old I knew the game's design was cruel at best - the vibe and presentation were very intriguing, but even at my most forgiving I thought it just wasn't very fun.

Loved the cartoon classics pack. But the 500+ itself was definitely not the best Amiga... Lower compatibility without much advantage
@GouldFishOnGames6 ай бұрын
As a 500+ owner I can't quite agree. While it did have lower compatibility with early games, I think KS2 and Workbench 2 looked and worked much better. and having the full 1mb of chipram from the start was great. only real downside is the ticking timebomb of a battery.
@tristramcox46156 ай бұрын
@@GouldFishOnGames we had a 500 and a 500+ (with the 500 upgraded) and I think it was the comparability issues that urked me. Relokick was a godsend though 😁
