Great stuff as ever Janek - I just introduced nearly this exact exercise to a student last week. She practices nonstop, but is always playing tunes... trying to get people as excited about time, tone, and technique as they are about their favorite songs is always the challenge! Running songs is super fun but it takes maturity to enjoy the simpler patterns of practice just as much, and there's always something to gain from that. I think part of me learning that years ago was from watching your videos, so keep doing your thing and inspiring the right approach for folks. Cheers 👍

Thank you for your posts man. I bought a bunch of your books also. I really enjoy your teaching style. You break down concepts that I have struggled for years that I can comprehend. I think your teaching is underrated man. Smoking chops also! Thanks bruddah!❤

I'm doing your major challenge exercise, the one where you start from the 5th and descend, for a couple months now almost every day, it improved every aspect of my playing. But I've also made the same type of exercise for the minor scale and it's also great, especially because there's a 5 fret stretch with 3 notes. Thank you.

I love this exercise. I do versions of it on double bass using the bebop scale so that I am playing a chord tone on every beat. When I started playing this exercise regularly my band mates immediately noticed. Really helped me gain confidence in awkward keys such as Eb, Ab, Db, and F#.

Also mostly do each scale descending first and then ascending. I learned from a bass teacher that most folks have a harder time descending than ascending so it makes sense to get comfortable playing descending scales without warming up on the ascending version first.
