It's the 'simple' techniques I love learning from craftsmen such as yourself. I've always tried to measure and pre-cut the corner mitre before folding which inevitable leads to errors, but your 'fold and nick' method is a relation in it's simplicity (and I employed to much success recently when making a business card holder). Another amazing and informative video as always.

Thanks for another useful video! Watching you and your methods is so instructive. When I go to try to replicate what I’ve seen, it just works. As long as I do as you do. 😊

This is my preferred way of covering trays for hinged lid boxes etc. I originally learnt to make boxes following the Hollanders' book, which has you cutting a separate piece of covering material for each side of the tray. That method takes a lot longer and involves a lot of fiddly measuring for little gain (unless the tray is too large to cut one continuous strip, but even then I try to have three sides in one strip then piece in the side that will be glued to the case.

Hi. I love your videos and the way you explain each process. I do have two questions: Is applying that adhesive on just one side and not both sides, better in terms of strength? Can you share what type is the red one? Is contain some vinyl? Also, your videos are good ASMR as well. Thank you.

Wait, what witchcraft was that at 2:33?! If I tried sliding the ruler up and aligning it by eye, I'd be sure to make a hash of it! :D

That’s where Darren’s knife-skills come in handy. 😊

If I can do it, anyone can:). Trick is keeping the knife in place so you only need to align the top edge.

I've covered the individual parts before I put everything together in my recent projects. Have you tried that method, and if so, what's your opinion? I find it works best on coarser cloths and paper.
