Ok. This was great. As a newly appointed Librarian, the idead of covering books terrified me. I successfully covered a dozen paperback novels today perfectly.

Is this what libraries normally use? I have seen paperback with a really thick cover on them. Is this option available to the home librarian? Thanks!

@@DesertMouse298 For paperbacks I normally use a delayed bond adhesive cover that is generally 80-100 microns. Somthing like this product shop.raeco.com.au/products/25325CA

Thanks for the video. By the way, keep the corners that you cut off on the sides and you can place them on the inside corners of the front and back flaps to reinforce the book corners.

How very sweet of you to have taken the trouble to share! I pity those who have not learned to cover a book. I learned it way back when I was a student, with brown paper that we used to use then. So I could follow your instructions without trouble. Otherwise, I doubt if I could have, and I would be so confused. Don't worry, kids and teachers who don't know this - everything comes only with practice. Trial and error - it's the same for everyone and you're not alone. I just saw in another video where they said not to throw away the bits because they will come in handy to repair wear and tear over time and the triangular bits can be used to reinforce the four outer corner edges inside of the front and back book covers

I’ve watched quite a few of these KZbin videos about covering books with contact paper, and your video is easily the best of the lot. You made it very easy to understand what you were doing, and I loved your bubbly personality. I have now covered 1 out of 3 books, that are about the best parrot foods, vitamins, health care and parrot food recipes. Thank you so much from the UK for making this video. Stay safe.

@@elizakavon4923 well…that’s a good question, Eliza, thank you for asking! I could have sworn I left a comment but my poor old mind does wander so I’m really grateful for your comment. It has been SO much fun and worked really well. I’m not sure you’d be interested beyond that but for what it’s worth I’m kinda obsessed with kawai/ergonomic/asmr - what my sister describes as “chewy”, or tactile, if that makes sense. I cover the book in a light colour (if necessary) then literally load it with a million stickers, covering the entire thing and overlapping/using clear-backed ones over paper stickers and then cover the whole thing with contact, following this fantastic video. What you get is really lovely to look at and most of all touch, so it makes studying/reading so much more enjoyable. It takes ages so I don’t do it often but the odd opportunity is very therapeutic! Thanks again Eliza and very best to you and yours.🥰

@@penelopehughes-jones5265 Thank you for replying! I was honestly so curious! What you did with the contact paper sounds really cool and interesting. I’ll definitely have to look into it. @@elizakavon4923 Thanks Eliza, sos it took me ages to say it but thanks. I admire you for using it on paperbacks because it's so hard to do a neat job. After watching this I saw an IHannah video (I'll add the link if I can) and it inspired me to use stickers but the plastering effect just happened as I went along. I recently bought a clear phone case and did a similar thing but that's so much easier if your phone is a light color. I wonder if anyone's painted a phone?! I shpuld get an iPhone but they're sooo expensive. Anyway I hope you have fun, contact paper is definitely the way forward, I am learning Welsh and it makes me so want to study! Hugs & love xx🥰xx
