+SeriouslyMikey that's how it ought to be. that's the root of what this series explores. it's literally the reasons people hate a band or why they don't or won't even go near their work. it's far from personal. half of the time I question heavily the intentions of those who say they'll refuse to listen to a band after something happens. many years ago, I'd cite it as someone making a decision, but in this new, stupid world I wonder if most would rather just say that to try to grab a handful of social media likes. what Phil did at Dimebash was dumb, but I'm not gonna stop digging the band's artistry based on it. you cannot just drop the memories of the band or how they maybe got you deeper into metal, or whatever.

I love the music of Burzum, I quite often watch the thulean perspective and agree with some of the things he says. As a parent of a child I could never understand the murder of euronomous and have been forever saddened by it. I hope that it was self defense otherwise it was a pre meditated and that’s worse. One does not have to agree with someone on everything to gain some enlightenment. 1) Varg is better than anyone at explaining the lost connection with the European religion that existed prior to the fabrication of Christianity 2) Varg bring a sense of pre dark age European history that is absent from our education 3) Van Gogh was "crazy" too, average people depend on those that see things from a divergent perspective in order to move their thinking outside of their own experience 4) It might not be as bad as Varg illiterates, but European culture is currently being placed under stress, raising awareness before it is diluted is a valid pursuit

Holy crap man good comment. Like way to highlight some missed points. There's always these pros and cons. I agree most with the crazy view, usually those who think abstractly, create brilliantly. Thus being crazy or fringe is okay. It's hard to have these views outweigh the negatives tho. As is always the case, often twice or more positives are needed to equal one percieved negative. I will maybe continue exploring Burzum, while still being wary. As one mans harsh negatives can build up the negatives of others. I will avoid the fanbase tho, I'm afraid not everyone is as thorough in their thoughts as you are.

I dont knownif Burzum didninfluence black metal or not but Darkthrone and Mayhem Definitely did. Also Atilla was still a good vocalist eventhough not as good as Dead, and i may not be sure about this but i checked and found of that Atilla was a member of Tormentor, a first wave black metal band. Having him must have been like having a dream come true to them. Now personally im more towards the first wave black metal, so i have little.knowledge of thebsecond wave black metal. I love Bathory, love it or hate it the speediniess in Bathory's first album was a plus along with the way he sung the songs. Bulldozer is another first wave black metal band i like, they were good. And judging from watching his videos, the guy is difficult to nond with, he seems like a delusional and a diffixult person who completely hates tye modernization of human beings. I dont jate the guy i just hate these things about him. Well one tjings for sure, he seems like a good dad, and i have massive respect he genuinely lives his wife eventhough she has mental health struggles, so thats sometjing i admite about him, hecause i had terrible experience with mental health stigma in general. Thats all im gonna say about him.

Tbh I rarely show any interest in the past or present of artists most bands I actually listen to I don’t even know the name of a single fkin member, I don’t care they’re just some ppl creating stuff I listen to bcuz I like the sound of it or/and the lyrics.

I personally loved those dark ambient albums and I started listening to him for his BM, if people "hate" him because of those they're very stupid and aren't able to accept differences in genre from the same artist. Maybe they hate those albums, (and the other dark ambient stuff scattered across his work) no reason to hate him or burzum in general. These albums are even more appreciated when you know a bit more about the guy and what they're about (medieval role-playing games kind of says it all for me).

The classic Burzum albums were epic! They each took a part in forming the basis for black metal. Burzum was a one-man metal project with Varg as the sole musician. He probably invented the term. I am not really sure. Many black metal musicians took after his approach. Plus, he was a real musician who did not have a lot available resources to make and produce music. For that, Varg is a genius!
