Why don't people Defog screens away more often? It makes your games WAY more consistent. Just get your rocks back up after. In the first game, I would have switched into Dragonite to click Defog on the Electrodes Light Screen turn. Then Gastrodon gets rocks back up immediately after.

I get where you’re coming from, but doing that in this situation would actually make your gameplay really inconsistent. Screen setters like Electrode almost always carry Taunt, and in this case, it even had Explosion, both of which can effectively block Defog. So, trying to Defog would likely waste turns without achieving much. I would actually be helping my opponent, because I remove my own rocks and he just gets up screens again. There’s also no real way to stop Electrode from setting up screens again since the entire team is slower. On top of that, Gastrodon wouldn’t get Stealth Rocks up for free against Electrode because it would just get Taunted. Excadrill, on the other hand, can both set up Stealth Rocks and stop Gastrodon from maintaining them, being faster and having more PP on Stealth Rocks. In this type of matchup, my opponent is running hyper offense, so they don’t care if their screen setter or rock setter faints as long as they get the job done. That’s why switching into Dragonite to Defog here wouldn’t have been a consistent or effective play. Hope that clears things up for you! 😊

the problem is electrode can taunt defogers, and explodes to give a turn to a sweeper

@AFCAdinho I disagree. Your Dragonite had Earthquake to check the Electrode, so if it tried clicking screens again, he'd just get quaked, so it forces a switch or he dies and you remove screens after. And your opponent didn't know your Dragonite set. Why would he Taunt if he doesn't know your set. Electrode has no offensive pressure besides explosion, but your Dragonite had roost. Your set countered it perfectly. I've been in the same situation many times, and most players don't expect you to defog. It's no different than your opponent spamming rocks again immediately after you defog them away. Which happens pretty frequently.

@@KingBadleyhow would he know that the Dragonite had Defog? He'd have to get the turns right to Taunt, which I doubt he would have.

@ it's fine, I disagree with you too. You are assuming instead of looking at all possiblities, which in my eyes is already a mistake. The moment dragonite comes in the fear of it Dragon Dancing comes up, so the odds of getting taunted is high anyway. And once again, players who play offense dont care if their setter dies, actually they prefer it dies fast so a sweeper or damage dealer can come in for free.
