@ecliptix54365 ай бұрын
Hi GR! I have a mission idea for your consideration. I rather enjoy the Thunderdome death matches as well as the extreme landing skill videos, any of the fun ridiculousness that leads to quality entertainment, really. So maybe something along those lines but with a historically relevant connection to spice it up a bit. You've probably heard of this event... The Backstory... Date: Tuesday 15 August 1939. Time: 06:00 approx. A dive-bombing demonstration was being put on for senior Luftwaffe commanders. I./ St.G.76 commanded by Captain Walter Sigel was assigned the task. The demonstration was to be carried out by the twenty-six Stukas of the Gruppe just after daybreak. A weather reconnaissance of the target, a forested area near Neuhammer, was carried out and the pilot reported to Captain Sigel that there was broken cloud over the objective between 6,000 and 2,500 feet, but the visibility below the cloud base was good. Unfortunately however, the cloud layer turned into a bank of early morning fog extending to the ground in the half hour or so that it took the Gruppe to fly to the target, and Sigel could not be informed by those on the ground as he did not have radio communications with them. The 26 dive bombers commenced their attack at 12,000 feet and soon plunged into the murk. Alarmed by the prolonged dive without cloud break Captain Sigel was shocked to suddenly see tree tops appearing in the mist in front of him. Shouting a warning to his pilots over the R/T he began a desperate pull out from his 70-degree dive. He escaped a crash narrowly but 13 of his Stukas did not and ploughed into the ground, killing their 26 pilots and gunners. (Info from Aviation-Safety website and this video I saw a couple years ago: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJTceIKFh8qGnbc) ------------------ The Mission: Various types and eras of human-controlled aircraft begin in formation at a chosen convenient altitude and commence a steep dive bombing run down through a cloud layer a few thousand feet thick, with the ceiling starting at 2500ft above ground level. Everybody should technically have enough time to bomb the target area and pull up in time. Then for the next rounds, lower the ceiling 500ft and use faster planes until a winner is crowned by being the last one not burning in a pile of wreckage in the forest, the one who destroyed the most ground targets without crashing if more than one survives, or at least he or she who performs the most theatrically entertaining failure while almost winning for the round that nobody survives. Of course, random anti-aircraft guns, missiles, flak, even sneaky helicopters with IR missiles piloted by eliminated dive bombers seeking redemption from the Viewers, etc. could also appear at any time if the game master were so inclined. Example: Round 1 - P-51 (or similar) with rockets and/or bombs, 2500ft ceiling. Round 2 - F86 (or similar) with rockets and/or bombs, 2000ft ceiling. Round 3 - Mirage F1 (or similar) at 1500ft, and so on through the eras. Faster planes on each round, lowering ceilings by 500ft on each round, appropriately steep dive angle for the aircraft being used, single elimination. Extra points for style. Thoughts?

Well done!!! Just an idea: With such a A class team of 6 (!) F-22 and one B-21, you may rather want to fight against 8 SU-57, 4 J-20 and few SU-35. Alternatively, you may fly F-15Cs. In terms of the scenario: Since the drop zone is quite close to the sea, the package may rather be delivered by a clandestine 🤿 SEAL team starting from a submarine. Btw: 44 missiles for just 9 gen 4 jets? Think of the US taxpayers and go for the high prob shots only!

I don't understand how people can think that these aircraft can't be detected by radar. All of the current US aircraft are completely visible by radar operating a .03 to 3Ghz and can be seen out to about 180 miles. While these radars would not have the precision to target stealth aircraft, they can give accurate enough info to direct fighters to an intercept point. The only thing stealth his really invisible to is the band of radar used in fighters and other small aircraft.
@michaelc.9183Ай бұрын
But then you still would not be able to really shoot at them, right?
@shenmisheshou7002Ай бұрын
@@michaelc.9183 These radars lack the resolution to actually target a fighter, but if you know the bearing, the altitude, and the speed, you can direct your own aircraft to intercept vectors. The F-35, in particular, has a somewhat limited range, making it vulnerable to rear intercept as is returns to its base, or to the tankers. While very stealthy from the front, from the rear, they are not nearly so. The J-20 is a very large aircraft and my guess is that this is so they can carry then necessary fuel to pursue US fighters. I do not believe that the US will get involved in a direct offensive military action in a war over Taiwan. Taiwan simply isn't worth it. I do believe the US will put several battalions of Marines ashore to assist with defensive actions, but I doubt the US will attack China or the Chinese navy other than for craft attempting to bring troops to Taiwan.

I don't understand the constant talk about radar for the F22 & F35. The AN/APG 77 and AN/APG 81 have frequency hopping systems that hop over 1000 times per second. Basically for almost all 4th gen they should be noise. The likelihood of anything less than a F35 or a US AWACS should be able to collect enough data to figure out there is a radar out there in the first place. But fun!

Someone needs to figure out how to add the A/G weapons that they carry IRL to the DCS F22 mod. Having it as an A/A only platform is quite limiting Yes, it was designed as an air dominance fighter, but given how during its service life, It dominance has been a given for the US, they've had to add A/G capabilities into it
