@@godlynewbie in response, I tap 0 lands to cast the new instant that lets me put any creature in the format into play directly. I choose Bloodletter of Aclazotz which will double the life cost on that trigger to 100% of your life total. GGs. new Magic is peak strategy geam

@ I'm gonna try to be so real for a second. I personally think that Aggro wants this mechanic the least out of any archetype. SYE will take 4 turns to give a payoff (assuming there are no cards that increase the timer themselves akin to Proliferating a Poison Counter). All (good) aggro decks want to be wrapping the game up on turn 3-ish, but may spill over beyond. Couple that with SYE only starting when you control a permanent with the effect, and that I didn't see a single one drop with it and you won't be getting it off any time soon. You'll either have to start on turn 2 OR play a Non-colored or Tap Land T1, which means that technically, you'll still be starting on turn 2 I believe SYE could see play in Demon Contro, because of Unholy Annex, or decks that have a similar reliable drain, but probably not anywhere else

I find it ironic that the set mechanics for racing, named speed, won't even come up in a lot of Standard matches, because you're dead on turn 3 or 4.

I think part of the thing is also that we've gotten so many "theme sets" in a row. It would be a lot easier to deal with the aesthetic shifts I think if it was a less concentrated dose. But also, I do think that the intersection of folks for whom the flavor of magic is important and the folks for whom being heavily invested in the game is close to a circle. Newer folks are likely to be neutral on the flavor or positive, since they can easily skip any products that don't pique their interest. So I don't think the concept of minority vs majority really applies to this discussion as much. Idk. Assuming that a company is actually making the best choices is probably not a good way to operate. There's a lot of room for fallibility as long as it's "good enough to still make money"

Exhaust is player based, not card based. You can’t reexhaust cards.

@ exhaust works in a way that as long as the card is in play so blinking it or bouncing it means you can do the exhaust ability again. So “Town” is going to become even better although this route is slower it’s still possible. From what they explained in the pre-release IIRC

@@oscarguzman3017 I don't know what card you're referring to but blinking and recursion do not let you reuse effects if they're exhausted. It's a player based effect so once that effect is used you cannot use it again even if another instance of a permanent would trigger it.

MTG Designers and creators losing it!!!! The game don't look like it was ... all the new sets are super weird, no Magic related lore (Cowboys, Superheroes, Futuristic lasers, etc.) and now this, a car Grand Prix. 2025 look like nothing come from MTG, everything is beyond sets. - Why this set need so much yellow border cards?!?!?!? that's super weird!! - Why the Max Speed is so lame ... Just on your turn, and just if damage was dealt, and it could happens only on turn 4 - Why to run cards like this?!?, Plus they are not so broken. (I prefers to run cards with Corrupted / Ring Tempt, Same but batter effect! - Why Exhaust can be trigger just once?!? -- I don't like that set at all!

I have absolutely no interest in this set, and the trailer made me less interested. I actually found duskmourn interesting enough to buy sealed product but I still did not like the overt references to 80/90's horror movie tropes. The only set I might buy product for is Tarkir. I like Final Fantasy but don't want to buy product. I'm not a magic boomer, but I still don't like the fortnight direction of recent sets.

MTG is barely top ten in TCG sales in Japan. Sales were not good enough to continue making Japanese language MTG cards.. They still make Japanese cards as special chase cards in English sets because non-Japanese players want them.

One doesn't have to take themselves seriously to be a serious person. I don't particularly like the theme of this set, but I love genre mashups. And I like that Magic is becoming that instead of just high fantasy. As long as the gameplay is good, the game is serious, even if they have some fun with the themes.
