1:41:23 Hilariously casting the All is Dust is suicide, since it can't make Spice8Rack's Abyssal Persecutor be sacrificed because of Jon Irenicus' effect, but Sam's Vesuvian Doppleganger can. So the Vesuvian Doppleganger will get sacrificed and Spice8Rack will lose the game, causing the Abyssal Persecutor to move back to the Professor's control, making him lose the game as well. Meaning only Marcus and Sam would tie/lose last. So Sam activating the Disk was him also commiting suicide.

Spice can't sacrifice the Abyssal Persecutor thanks to Jon Irenicus' ability. Spice's death would send the Abyssal Persecutor back to the Professor. The Professor would lose the ability to not lose the game and would then lose the game. Then when the Professor loses the game, Abyssal Persecutor dies, and Sam and Marcus then lose. This means that technically only Marcus and Sam Draws. Thankfully, Sam used the disc, making everyone lose at the same time.

Super late reply so my apologies, but there is a ruling on Ebonblade Reaper that "if you attempt to halve a negative life total, you halve 0." It's not mathematically what happens, but I think it works best for gameplay for it not to turn into a positive.

You can’t choose a negative number, deal negative damage, gain negative life, and so on. However, it’s possible for a game value, such as a creature’s power, to be less than zero. If a calculation or comparison needs to use a negative value, it does so. If a calculation that would determine the result of an effect yields a negative number, zero is used instead, unless that effect doubles or sets to a specific value a player’s life total or a creature’s power and/or toughness. note that we're halving not doubling, so that doesn't apply. If you were to double, you would get double negative life.

Actually, when you consider what was happening, while everyone would've died, because spice couldn't sacrifice their demon, Marcus popping the ring technically prevented him from dying first, and was the path to the true draw.

Prof seems like such a friendly approachable guy most of the time, then when he dons that immaculate drip and gets really comfortable in a game he just lets loose and becomes a villain. It went way over my head, so I decided to stick to the cards that I own (or that I borrow from friends) because there are two decades of cards and lore and whatnot that I'd have to learn to comprehend even your simple reviews. Quite possibly the most perfect way the season could have ended. Because as Magic: the Gathering's Best Worst Card reminds us: "When nothing remains, everything is equally possible." I have a good feeling about the next season of Shuffle Up & Play! It would still end with its removal in the weirdest of ways. The copied persecuter would die, causing spice to die, causing his persecuter to go back to prof, causing prof to die, causing the persecuter to finally leave and finishing off the last 2. Magic is so weird and I love it.

@@Fleepox Wait a second. Due to Jon Irenicus, Persecuter gains the text "This can't be sacrificed," so wouldn't the copy also have that text?

​@@TheMaestroso Shapeshifter only becomes a copy of its target as printed, not additional abilities the card has gained. I believe they note that the copy is also not goaded, while Spice's is.

@@TheMaestroso Yeah copy effects are weird like that, I was having the same question when I made my brudiclad deck, if the token is equipped, enchanted, have counters on it or other effects "assigned" to it like goad they do not transfer to the other copies that brudiclad makes. Simple mindf*k I had at the time: if you copy a creature with flameshadow conjuring only the original copy token dies, but if you do it with heat shimmer you lose all the copies.
