The thing at 7:00 is a known bug. When Grenzo gets removed before his ETB reolves, you have no option but to rope out your clock. Even reconnecting doesnt work.

Grenzo is another commander, like Poq, where its fun to play as, but sucks to play against. Definitely one of the more busted commanders they made from Alchemy imo

Glad to see some more brawl on the channel lately, but man Grenzo is about as fun to watch as it is to play against. It doesn't feel like there's much real gameplay going on, make a few plays that don't ultimately matter then slam commander and hope for a good heist.

its fun until you need cards... that $ adds up. grinding sucks if you initialy make a bad deck that wont grind by that i mean win a few games out of several. crafted cards made a deck and then new expansion released and my deck was unplayable. still play but i put money in every couple weeks. now its doable but that grind for gems and coins sucks early on!

Not only is it powerful it’s incredibly unfun to play against. People run the rope out reading your cards only to realise that casting the cards in their hand will have better synergy with their deck. It just slows the game down as you watch someone else struggle to understand how to play with your toys. Just mill me, at least if you’re playing mill you know what your cards do and won’t spend 3 minutes on every turn.

I played against this deck last night and opponent hit the nuts on my simic deck with that bounce/extra turn spell followed by the expensive vorinclex that doubles manna and wrecks its opponents mana. Needless to say I lost

@24:50 I think the better play here is to take their Crucias, discard something so that you get a treasure, and then have the ability to infernal grasp their Grenzo with the heist trigger on the stack. This makes it so they can't heist removal from your deck to then kill your Grenzo since you will be denying them the ability to cast the heisted card for free. You then untap with Grenzo and it's basically locked up at that point.

I would argue that free spell engines are always a mistake but at least Rakdos doesn't have as many of them as blue does. "Biggest mistake" is a wild take though. In a format where Paradox Engine is still legal that's something quite else.

Rakdos may not have the most, but they are definitely the most egregious. Blue isn't chaining spells that are mana positive because they're from exile, looking at you prosper.

I've definitely seen some bugs with heist. I've been playing Grenzo, Getaway, etc in a few decks, but I'm pretty sure every single time an opponent cast a heist card then used one of my heist cards, they got an additional card out of my deck. Could have been a visual bug but I'm pretty sure they've gotten extra cards every time they heist my deck with my cards they heisted. Lol

I made it to Mythic with a Heist deck and the only removal card in my deck is Weave the Nightmare. Heist is only as toxic as the deck it steals from. If you think heist is the worst thing ever you probably have a really toxic deck build.

The problem with heist is that let You pick from 3 nonland card from the opponent every time you do it. That alone gaves you higher chances of drawing their best cards than the chances the opponent have drawing normally. It also feels very bad to lose to the best cards of your deck and realizing that You have lesser chances to get a copy of that card via normal draw because one copy was stolen

@@juanlopesss Again if you aren't running a cheap deck overflowing with removal(exile, counter spells, destroy effects, burn damage) then none of this bothers you. I ran into another person running a heist deck like my own and it was a pretty funny match. Who would have guessed that since I don't have a ton of removal all they could do was hope for good cards from my deck. Also if your "strategy" requires wiping the field to be effective it's not strategy it's just playing on easy. You wouldn't believe how frequently I heist someone and find nothing but removal looking back at me. 2 depopulate, and a wrath of God. No need to feel bad stealing from decks like that. Also you do realize that unlike say graveyard strategies heist decks still have to pay the cost of the card unless Grenzo is out and that's still only one free card per turn. How about the strategies that get omniscience, etali, and other high drops on the field for nothing by putting the cards in the graveyard first? The mizzix mastery combo, anything involving the paradox engine and aetherflux reservoir? Those are all worse than heist.

At least heist makes you still pay to play the opponents card(unless Grenzo is out). If your "strategy" requires field wipes then it's not strategy. It's playing on easy mode. Like I said in my first comment Heist is only as toxic as the deck it's stealing from.

I've had a deck called "Gonti and Friends" since Gonti came back to arena. It's a terrible deck with nothing really in it that wins a game but it does decent winning with the opponent's deck.

I think the idea is "you paid 6 mana for this card, on average you will hit something of equal or lesser mana value, so it's alright if the spell you find is free because otherwise you just paid 6 for a 6/4 and passing" plus people will hold up removal if they think he is coming down that turn so you don't get to cast whatever you find for free. But in practice it's still obviously pretty nuts. Doubly so if you happen to have a scam card in hand to profit off of your opponents removal. Especially if you have something that makes you go mana positive from it like Prosper or Lootmonger.

Went against this deck and opponent went Primeval Titan -> Portal of Phyrexia off of my deck for free. I don't know why Wizards is so hesitant to tweak Arena only cards when that was supposed to be the whole point of Arena only cards. We're probably stuck with this crap until Wizards decides to print something else that doesn't belong in standard queue. (2) less to cast taking off the once per turn restriction would definitely feel better to me or at least don't give him heist since it gives you choice, just give them a random card ffs.

Heist isn’t fine, indefinite steal effects have always been an issue. They banned agent of treachery for that reason. But this is an agent of treachery that costs 1 less and can steal non permanent spells, can steal spells your opponent doesn’t even have the mana to cast and does it every turn. Heist is mill if mill gave you card draw. Whoever looked at mill and said “let’s make this worse to play against” need a wellness check.

@@dittmar104 Agent of treachery is a STEAL effect, which is very different. Also, it was banned because of the Winota combo, not because it was inherently broken (go read the notes regarding its ban). I've had opponent play cards from my deck since I started in 2014, it's totally fine to me. Heck we even just got a Commander Precon that was entirely themed around playing cards from your opponents' decks. Totally fine with that. My issue is with the COST. The 1 mana heist card should have been 2 mana, and grenzo shouldnt be able to cast them for free. If you don't have an issue with the Gonti deck, then you shouldn't be worried about Heist. If you have an issue with the Gonti deck, then you should reevaluate what you have issues with. TLDR : heist is a fine mechanic, the problem is the cards with the mechanic printed on them.

I see one of those, I scoop. By the way, the guy who invented heist mechanic is on my hit list - alongside every single one who played this thing as their commander. I almost wish that card was playable in paper. It would bring back old good "face value" aspect to the game. Basically, every deck you could play in paper back then had its own "face value". It was an uncertain amount of your own physical face you could end up sacrificing outside the store after you`ve played something disgusting.

I absolutely hate this commander. I swear in 5 out of 7 games, they got etali out of my deck (out of that 5 etali triggers they hit ulamog twice). When they not hit etali the worst they get is usually something like terror of the peaks. It is not that I cant handle losing, I just get so salty when they get so unbelievably lucky. I only got to resolve etali once with my deck, I got Utopia sprawl and llanowar loamspeaker. It is pissing me off

I fully admit Grenzo is overtuned; I also admit that it's possibly the most fun I've had in Brawl in a while, while acknowledging that a lot of that fun comes from how busted free stuff is. That said, I hope they tune Grenzo rather than heist overall, because heist is definitely one of my favourite keywords in a while (up there with crime).

I think he's okay. Absolutely amazing if your opponent's deck is crammed full of generic value cards; Very awkward if their cards are supposed to trigger off each other. At my level, it feels similar to Etali and I'd much rather face Grenzo than Voja, Atraxa, or Jodah.
