@@efuii Invoke gets hosed post sideboard with that new W instant. Invoke will only be a best of 1 thing, and in best of 1 aggro keeps Invoke decks down a bit. I've finished top 500 mythic the last 3 seasons playing Grixis in best of 3 and I'm definitely going to be replacing Invoke.

Problem being...you want to be a mostly spells deck. A lot of people are playing black spot removal. This guy dies to most of the black spot removal. You likely wont have too many creatures to absorb those spot removal spells. Therefore, it's unlikely this guy will ever stay on the board to get to the christmas-land flipping multiple times.

Feels like this is a finisher for discard decks. Force your opponent to fill graveyard, and if they get something on the board drop her to kill it, and if your lucky flip it, but I don't see that happening too often. Her stats are still good tho

Are you kidding? Urabask at the helm of a spellsinger deck transforms soo easily. Izzet spells, impulse becomes 1 blue, draw a card ping the oponnent, get another spell to burn or draw. Throw in some Experimental Augary's in the deck to proliferate him when on the back and you could easily cast, three spells, proliferate twice, get three mana from treasures and keep burning when Urabask flips back over the turn that he flipped. Izzet or Jeskai spells pops off with this.

Urabrask + a lot of cheap burn would be devastating. It feeds itself, wipes the board of small things on flip, feeds you more mana and gives you another shot with the burn spells. Sheoldred is decent but not as amazing in 1v1 and at 10 mana with a catch might be pushing it. Has to live a turn minimum usually.

Seems like the best way to analyze these guys is assume you cant flip them and are they good without that. Urabrask is a 4-drop 4/4 first strike that can ping for extra damage occasionally. Seems ok but doesn't actually affect the board turn it comes into play nor does it give card advantage. The red decks are good because they get under midrange...while this guy is a 4 cast card that doesnt help immediately end the game. Seems likely this one wont be great without a dedicated burn deck. Sheoldred is a 5-drop 4/5 menace that edicts. Pretty decent but you have significantly better cards at the same CC. Will only be played if you can do its flip consistently IMO. Vorinclex is a 5 drop 6/6 that fetches two lands. About the same power level as the other two 5-drop large green guys IMO. Nothing spectacular, but his flip just needs lots of mana and not some other conditions so a dedicated ramp deck with this guy being a ramp card itself seems interesting. But I do love my green, so I'm likely biased here. If green big dudes is a deck then this will be played. Elesh Norm is a 4 drop 3/5 with a life loss mechanic. If Phyrexian Aggro is a thing then this will be a centerpiece to it. If I was going to bet which Praetor will have the best deck and be THE prominent card in that decks strategy, then this Praetor would be it. Already have the one-spell per turn phyrexian white guy and the one cast protection spell from this set. I suspect this to be the "BUILD ME" deck of the format like Toxic and Soldiers. Jin-Gitaxias seems ok, but you're likely tapping out to cast a 5-drop in a mostly spells deck? Haughty Djinn and the serpent seem better in a spells deck and you just dont have room for a card like this. Pass.

As a whole? Maybe.... Standard? Idk if a spells slinger strategy is in the table for standard at the moment and 4 is very much the top end of the curve for a deck like that.... Things like arc light phoenix had things like ravnica with izzet always providing spell slinger support. Additionally the flip side doesn't win the game on its own like some of the others (norn)....it is dependent on what is in the graveyards which can be interacted with before the 3rd trigger happens. Sheoldred had the same requirements to win but the shear amount of removal and hands disruption it provides can win the game on its own even without the reanimation It is certainly strong but arclight phoenix it is not. Honestly it sound have been non creature spells rather than only instant and Sorcery.

The Birgi deck was a thing at one point, but it wasn't that good. Birgi costs 3. This guy has bigger P/T and a relevant other ability, but 4 mana in a low cost spells deck doesn't seem great TBH. It seems unlikely this guy will pan out, but I do really like the design and its likely he will kill me at some point. I do like the idea of Urabrask in a dedicated burn deck with Mechanized Warfare though. But, again, how are you surviving till T4 without using your spells and having him survive a turn and still having 3 spells in hand to cast.

Sheoldred in my experience from the games I came across with it, actually tunnel visions the player playing it, making them play worse, Mid-range aggro counters it well. It's a good green punishment tho Tbh we are gonna get some better plays with it later down the line when ppl get used to it

I can see the new Sheoldred being useful as a top end for control to sideboard in against Esper Legends. Dimir Mill doesn’t sound viable in Standard, so you’d have to rely on opponents filling their own graveyards, which sounds niche. It’s dead in too many matchups to maindeck.

I’m running an Orzhov Anti-Aggro deck without creatures so my board wipes can be as one sided as possible. This version of Sheoldred seems like perfect synergy for the deck; flipping into a saga to dodge my wipes, is removal in and of itself, and takes advantage of all of my removal into a board state which the deck woefully lacks.

I think aggro is just going to be the meta from now on. Aggro has always been super popular because of the availability of it. Low mana, low cmc, and high gas means fewer feels bad moments for new or casual players. And they used to require few rares and mythics to be competitive. Now they have really been monitizing the aggro players. I think maybe because Arena caters to fast games, win or lose. Get your missions done fast, and the rush to mythic is easiest in the beginning days of the new season. I'm not sure if you've noticed, but white and red aggro has been the nuts for years now. Tons of cheap rare/mythic creatures that have walls of text. It's not enough to have have a bear for 2 anymore. It has to also exile a target perm or have haste and get +2/+0 from instant or sorc. If it doesn't, people won't play it anymore, and will just stick with what does have that. So stale meta. I don't see that stopping.

I have a feeling that a phyrexian tribal aggro could be good with the new Elesh Norn, the 1-spell a turn guy, and Surge of Salvation. Depends on the 1 and 2 mana creatures that support it and whether the sacrifice synergy of Elesh Norn's flip is good or not. I'm also really interested in seeing if the Rampaging Raptor and Into the Fire with the 2-cast 2 to 4 strength battles makes a deck. I wouldnt 100% discount it until we play with them a bit. Some decks play Tormenting Voice and the get a permanent from top 6 two cast one seems fine. You just absolutely don't want to base the deck around attacking the battles, but if you can hit them with incidental damage of mass removal or the Raptor's ability then it could work. Likely need another card or two that does something and hits the battle to get there though.

A scenario that will happen a lot is someone playing the 4 mana sheoldred onto an empty board and the other player responding with playing the new sheoldred on their turn, forcing them to sac the 4-mana sheoldred. That's really silly. Also worth pointing out that it's not actually that easy to play a creature that you are willing to sacrifice to protect something bigger. Taken aside mono-white, most decks can't really do that reliably, hence why sheoldreds edict is so popular and consistently hits what you want it to hit. Altho to be fair that's instant speed.

@@delus5311 Lmao, no. Edict is played in most black meta lists at least as a two off. Even against its worst matchup - soldiers - it still hits because it ignores tokens. And against red it's good, it hits their turn two 3/3. But most importantly, it hits trespasser without causing a discard.

As black you get to decide when you pull the trigger on the spell and you got plenty of other removal that enables you to change the boardstate to make it hit the way you want. I think the urabrask is only going to be ok because the saga is only ok, other than that he has the same problem most other red stuff like this has and that's sealing the deal, stealing stuff is ok sometimes but when you get a opponent why does not care because there own cards are useless vs them then yeah. Sheodreled is much better, put her in any deck with flicker effects and you can keep your opponents board empty, more so when you consider displacer kitty just go: cast cut down destroy this, flicks shelly, sack a creature, doom blade, flicker shelly, dark ritual, flicker shelly
