In 1967 people had Jimi Hendrix. In 2017 we have Yvette Young :) The technique, the groove, the feels!! :')

@@yeet-vb2kc First of all we were talking about Jimi Hendrix. Not sure if you are referring to someone else called Jimmy, and Hendrix was not just a "very good guitarist". Jimi single-handedly changed how people view the electric guitar for decades to come and is still regarded one of the best, if not the best, and most influential (electric) guitarists up to this day. His style was absolutely unique and easily recognizable at the time, and still is. He invented a style that did not exist before. No one else sounded like Hendrix back then. On the other hand there have been multiple guitarists in who play this style of Math Rock tapping presented here. Neither did Yvette invent this technique, nor is her style unique in comparison with the many other guitarists that play like that. She surely is a very good guitarist. Hendrix is way beyond that.

@@yeet-vb2kc I don´t care who is more technical - technique in itself has no musical value. His impact on music and the instrument is hard to overestimate, which is exactly why he is considered to be one of the best if not the best guitarist up to this date. People were asked who they thought the best guitarist is/was, musicians were asked, guitarists were asked, and guess what most of them answered. Of course "best" is not objective, but his cultural impact is evident and not just subjective. He was absolutely unique. And that says something about an artist. Also Hendrix` music had even more feeling and variety in comparison, if you ask me, while this Math Rock tapping is very one dimensional and has been done by so many before. So yeah, there is really no comparison - and that is exactly why I reacted like I did to the first comment.

@@yeet-vb2kc neither technique nor complexity have musical value in and of themselves. You can produce highly complex pieces and pieces with very high technical demand that sound like sh*t, and there are beautiful and outstanding pieces that are relatively simple and don`t show either. Of course sometimes these things go together as well, but there is no such causality that would allow to conclude a musical (or artistical) value from either technique or complexity alone. To me this music is one dimensional because it only uses a very small portion/vocabulary of all available forms of musical expression, for example note value and also just one playing style, namely tapping. I mean cudos to whoever started it many years ago, but by now it is really just a reproduction of an existing style rather than an artistic innovation. I strongly disagree with you on the last paragraph, because i`ve heard dozens of guitarists of the same generation that sound very, very similar. That said, there is also a lot that i can agree with you.

I feel like maybe the drummer was going a little too ham on the crash. I don't know anything though.

Might be an audio capture issue. Forest is the better match for Covet for sure.
