They are trying to preserve that RNA and deactivate it to make a vaccine so to trigger passive immunity via antibodies made as a response to pathogen. But tests and trials are necessary to make sure it not activating again and that form would be much worse to cure and will be more resistant. Like chickenpox as primary which under certain conditions can get activated causing more severe and different form of disease like vericella Zoster(Shingles). So a trial is necessary and their is also a theory that right now there are 2 strains existing one is further mutated and much severe. So alot of work ongoing.

Richard Charles, Speaking of how this may OR could help others to fight this disease. I'm going to first give you a scenario followed by a question. I'm the only person on my house that hasn't been sick yet this year. Now I'M NOT SURE AND DON'T FOR SURE know who's attention that I need to bring thos matter to I'm a 58yo woman who has an autoimmune disease. What I have is a WHOLE LOT LIKE LUPUS I get a HUMONGOUS AMOUNT OF ANTIBODIES by IV therapy once a month. This is more likely than not just WHY that I haven't been sick and the other FIVE FAMILY MEMBERS IN MY HOUSE HOLD HAVE BEEN SICK!!! Now if this is the case I just WONDER WHY that they haven't tried the same treatment (IVIG) on patients who are actually dieing. I would like to know that of they were to take some of my blood if there's any way they could check to see if the mass antibodies that they give me would be able to kill the Corona virus. If there's ANYONE out there who can answer this question then I would welcome an answer from ANYONE who can give me a true answer to my question. Thank you, Cindy Smith 🌞

@@Kissesmom1 Autoimmune doesnt make you reaistant to all of the pathogents. Autoimmune is when your body mistakes your normal cells with specific receptors as a foreign pathogen. It doent possible recognize all the receptors same. So that's why there are many types of autoimmune depending which normal cell it has picked. These are therefore mostly genetic.

Zack, your obvious expertise and your positive persona is very reassuring in these frightening times. They give us (and particularly the older among us) that our physicians and nurses understand the disease mechanism and have a good understanding of what can and should be done for disease sufferers and the general population. It backs up the lesson for us to do everything possible to avoid the disease, both to help ourselves and to reduce the load on medical providers and the health care system. It also shows the importance of dilatory action by government on having treatment resources like ventilators and also the necessary masks, gowns and gloves to keep you and all other medical personal on the 'treating' side, and avoiding crossing over into the 'patient' side of things. Bless you all and stay safe.

Therefore we have continued to manufacture wheat flour, bran, cleaned wheat, and our drivers continue to deliver our bulk products to our customers daily. In my ongoing effort to try to keep our employees and drivers safe and healthy throughout this pandemic, I have been looking for information to help me understand signs and symptoms of this virus, and prevention and treatment of the same. And of course potential outcomes, should one become infected. I thoroughly enjoyed this lecture. I've watched two series' of virology lectures on You Tube. I needed that background to fully understand what you are saying. However, when it comes to coronavirus, you gave by far the most complete and understandable explanation of how the infection works and how various things block it that I have yet seen.

I gotta agree, meaning considering he (Zack) probably started studying the actions and reactions of this virus in January and now he's during an in-depth presentation with all the "Signs and Symptoms" ...Dude got unbelievable skills.

THANK YOU MILLION TIMES in the name of all the doctors and the doctors from Greece that are going to watch this video. This should be a video for "VIRAL spreading" across the web. It is a base to start from the least !

Even a retired mech. engineer appreciate your wealth of knowledge & detail. I understand more of the complexity of the virus & why finding a vaccine is so challenging. Keep up your super work. (If you're ever in Maui, I will buy you lunch).

Wow, you have a gift. I am not in the medical field. This is a laymen simple path to a clear understanding of what's important today!... You need to be heard by a wider audience than just medical professionals and students, I'm going to do my part to try to see that you are... Extremely well presented,

I'd like to hear more about the ~15% of confirmed cases which are hospitalized but recover without going to the ICU. Mostly we hear about the ~80% who don't need a hospital, or the ~5% who become critical (around half of whom survive). For those currently being hospitalized but not needing to enter ICU: * what are the most common interventions used? How critical are they? * how long typically do they need to stay in the hospital? * how many would likely have died without hospitalization? (guesses of course) * what can be done for this group at home if hospitals are completely overwhelmed? If it becomes very bad, we may see 85 or 90% not going to the hospital, rather than 80% not needing it. How do we deal with that?

Zeph Smith Great question! My dad is currently under observation at the hospital after testing positive for COVID-19 last week. He had been at home recovering however I had to call 911 yesterday due to his low SPO2, SOB and fever of 103.0. He’s not in critical condition but not stable enough to be released. My mom is almost fully recovered she recovered from home no need for hospitalization and I am a asymptomatic COVID-19 Carrier along with 5 other asymptomatic carriers in my home. I only tested after I lost my sense of smell and taste but I hadn’t had other symptoms just dizzy spells and sneezing last week which I thought was caused by my seasonal allergies. It’s scary to think of all the people like me who don’t present with the common symptoms or any symptoms at all.

Question: For someone battling this virus at home that develops breathing difficulties but not enough of a decline to be admitted to the hospital, would a CPAP machine help them manage the symptoms and potentially keep them out of the hospital? Also what about inversion therapies and cupping therapy for at home treatments to try and keep lungs clear?

Another treatment is the use of plasma from patients that have fully recovered in hopes of the antibodies helping the immunity of the very sick patient.

Thank you, amazing information. I would really like to know how many of these teatments are actually being comonly implemented per patient. Why has there been so much reluctance to openly embrace the drugs mentioned here and how many people are lost because of that? I hope we get smarter and give this the full urgency needed to overcome the disease.
