It's not like they're in their teenage years or early twenties, their income is principally the product of the decisions they have made. They could have upskilled or run their business more profitably, or sought additional income streams, or alternatively cut back on expenses, in order to make saving viable. Risk taking also does not mean being stupid and throwing all of one's eggs into the same basket. I take risks all the time, but I don't rely on any one of them to succeed and they all form a smaller part of a larger portfolio whose overall risk is carefully balanced against my risk tolerance and ability to recover from any setback. They chose not to act as such, instead living the life they wanted to rather than the one they should have. That is on them, and the consequences should be entirely on them.

@mimovil8730

@@freezedeve3119 These jobs existed because consumers valued these things - otherwise, they would not have been around. You may place more value on resting, for instance, but other people charge their batteries by going out and seeing new places and doing new things. Others like to spend their money on videogames. Well, sure. Who am I to say that that is not important? Businesses stay alive because the services that they offer or the products that they sell are wanted. Otherwise, they go bust. These jobs created value. Most people, other than a few experts, were not too concerned about a potential pandemic ruining our lives. But covid has hit and all these businesses which need basic social interaction to operate are now between the rock and the hard place. Sure, I understand your point. There's a lot of covid out there and we should be practising social distancing and limiting social interaction. But, you know (and this is the most important point), these sectors can't adjust to this new reality in a matter of months. Economies can't transform radically overnight. If you owned a restaurant, what would you do now? You'd be screwed. You may have made people happy for decades, created jobs, payed your taxes, been a central icon in your community, but what happens now? Maybe the government won't let you open your business and give you 0 compensation. Maybe the restrictions are so tight that the demand for your services is choked. What do you do? You need to put food on the table. And you have got so much money invested on that business, that's your life, that's what you know how to do. What are these people supposed to do? Lose thousands of dollars every month by being closed and go into debt? You still have to pay for rent, utilities, other taxes, etc. Should they abandon their businesses and find new jobs? But where? We are in a massive recession - the job market is dry in many countries. If you were an employee in one of these sectors, now that the job market is doing so badly, chances are that you won't find anything - not for lack of trying! Of course, we need to find an adequate balance. But many of these people - hard working people who have given us and our communities so much - are desperate. The least that we can do is be sympathetic towards them and their current predicament.

Why should Austria have to pay when Spain collected all the taxes? Maybe it would make sense for Spain to pay her unemployment benefits as long as Austrian officials think she is actually looking for work (not saying she isn't) but I'm sure Spanish unemployment is too low to afford a life in Austria. She could always go back to Germany though, she should get unemployment benefits there and there is nothing tying her to Austria specifically.

People are so focused on saving lives they don't think about what happens when people run out of money and lose all the things they have spent years working for, it doesn't occur to them that a large portion of the jobs that go away won't come back. People can't seem to see the big picture that lockdowns could cause more damage than the virus. I hope people wake up and realize that while saving lives is important we also need to make an effort to save jobs and save the economy. If we are not willing to give financial aide to out of work people and small businesses than we cannot have another lockdown. I will be in the streets protesting if we have another lockdown without adequately supporting the people/small businesses.

The death of an 85 year old is sad but not tragic. It is natural. To say that it is tragic is like saying gravity is tragic. But governments deciding that whole categories of populations are undeserving of a life worth living and then forcing them into poverty and even homelessness, THAT is tragic. When you consider that lockdowns don’t even work and are only done as a political gesture to appease the hysteria of those people whose lives do matter, it becomes apparent how sick our society is.

With the great reset in place they will have total control of population and the world. Still time to wake up, people need to fight. Reclaim your life. This reporting is a disparity of humans ignorance. Every man woman stand up fight what is yours. YOU MUST. Let me ask why people in this state ???? I say again, people you have the power to stop all this, go back to your businesses and open up, fight to open up than lay there and take the BS LIES ???? No! Still time PEOPLE wake up!! Chinese people in the west, work hard and save a lot. While locals are having fun and siestas, they work hard to serve them food in their restaurants 14hrs a day, 6 days a week. While local kids play outside or watch tv, Chinese immigration kids study and help their parents in their small business. As a result they could buy this business or would you rather have that no one bought it? And I tell you they will survive even during a pandemic or crisis because they know the value of hard work, saving and family.

@decus9544
@decus9544 3 жыл бұрын
@@bunny.elixir I grew up poor, and I remember distinctly how the working class systematically brought every suffering upon itself and would attempt to bring all these sufferings upon everyone else also, through the sheer weight of their own stupidity, short sightedness and tribalism. The characteristics of humanity improve as one looks further up the socioeconomic hierarchy until one reaches the very top at which point one notes a severe increase in a different set of flaws. Nevertheless, wealth management is not among these flaws other than for a minority - the same ones who tend to fall out of the upper classes - where it is for the poor. Thus, my statement is an accurate assessment of what would happen, whether you like it or not. This does not mean that society should not seek to offer opportunity to all, to prevent wealth from changing legal outcomes under identical circumstances, to remunerate actions that have plunged some groups into poverty irrespective of their own actions, or to seek to create a society that works for all of its members rich or poor, but it is to say, that if you were to simply redistribute all the wealth of a country equally among its citizens, that it would re-stratify in very short order, and that this would as such solve little, whilst causing a great deal of economic disruption.
