I did well being out of sync with the crowds. I stocked up a few weeks early, avoided the rush, and then went shopping while everyone was still to panicked to expose themselves at the store. I don't stock much, but by being out of phase I've been able to get everything I've needed.

Best purchase right before the shutdown = chest freezer. Hands down the freezer made a huge difference cause I could stock up and freeze many things I made which means I totally avoided the stores.

Totally agree. Glad we had an extra freezer as well! 👍

Things that could have gone better: 1. stash more ppe, hand sanitizer 2. keep better inventory 3. bigger stockpile, do gardening Things that went well: 1. had enough food and water 2. prepped for everything 3. be ahead of the curve (think tp!)

We were extremely low on pandemic supplies and as they return to the stores I will buy them. We excelled in most food areas other than at-the-ready foods (cans of soup/stews, as an example). With the rapid depletion of items (toilet paper and hand sanitizer etc.) we began to try to think of the items we would need for a full year. We then sourced and purchased things like: weed eater string, a year’s worth of furnace filters, a few toilet repair kits, Berkey water filters, etc. My daughter and her husband stocked up on several months worth of diapers and up-sizes of clothes for their daughter. Basically we tried (and are trying) to predict the future of “what if we can’t get it” items.

First accept the fact that you are alive and in reasonably good health. The supplies you have at this time are far better that what most of the general public have. The training you have puts you light years ahead of the rest of us. I am recovering from a diabetic wound and stroke the last. 10 months at a cost of $60000 if not for my prepping I would be in dire condition. What I am saying is be thankful to prepare and be able to continue on with yout life. God will provide. Have a great day and a better tomorrow

I love this video!! So cool! I think all of us are going to up our PPE game moving forward. I've been stepping up my gardening skills since this all started. Hopefully I'll be better in that area moving forward. I'm glad that you and yours are safe. Thanks a bunch for doing this video! I'm very honored to be your friend and colleague. ~Cliff

I believe this is pandemic was a wake up call for those who made fun of us for being prepared, we have always seen the need to be prepared and I think they’re finally starting to see it

We have been fine for the most part and had everything to survive with one exception: money. We are both chefs (well were, we were both laid off due to covid) which isn't a high paying profession. We made enough to pay bills and then stock up a little. Because of that we had enough food, water, essentials, etc. But we were forced to rely on unemployment to pay rent and our bills once our paychecks stopped. So our goal now is to focus on working toward a more financially stable career and side hustles to build a better savings.

Good job, Marty. What I think we did well, for ourselves and others was to follow facts. We also followed the safer at home guidance to reduce risk and minimize exposure, given our age & underlying conditions. Finally, we followed Governor Cuomo (NY) and Dr. Fauchi, throughout the escalation and continue to follow them now, into the management of next steps. Their measured and fact-centric approach, supported by easy to follow visual aids (Cuomo briefings) was essential as we (all) navigated completely uncharted territory. We had to watch the WH Corona Task Force briefings, but they became so dysfunctional and confusing, it was emotionally and mentally draining to endure. We were fortunate enough to be able to find and purchase anything we needed in the form of supplies and equipment. Like you, we will consider our (future) approach to renewable and sustainable food sources.

Junell Scheeres ..unfortunately, Tromp has put a zipper on Fauci and the CDC so we rarely get info from them now, although it is two mo. After your comment. That has been pretty disgusting.

Learned to "love" canned sardines and tuna fish, frozen peas, frozen broccoli, rice, black beans, barley, green tea, instant coffee, stockpiled chicken legs, garlic, ginger, cayenne pepper, parsley flakes, ramen, dry pasta, and bananas. And always carry 2 folding knives, one fork, a can opener and a pot. Having beer in the refrigerator is always good as well as Internet and an iPad. Now that New York is slowly opening back up, I'm going to have to deal with a freezer stuff full of stockpiled chicken legs!

Hey, I just wanted to say thanks for all the great videos. I'm a new subscriber and I'm really enjoying your channel. Tons of great content. I really like the idea of budget bug out gear. As much as I like working on my BOB I don't think it's necessary to spend a lot of money. Other channels focus on the best gear, and it costs a fortune! Also, I really like that your videos for the most part are a few minutes long. I don't get why some channels feel the need to make videos that are exceedingly long. I watched a guy splitting firewood for 44 minutes on this bush crafting channel. Anyway, thanks again, keep up the great work!

Love ur content man, keep it up and I have always found u to be one of the more level-headed KZbinrs, which is appreciated!! I learned that i did not have enough persobal protection equipment, as u noted with people wiping out the stores of hand sanitizer and rubbing alcohol. I also used the time at home to organize my canned/boxed foods in a way that helps me keep better track of what i have and keep a largwr stockpile (space is still limited, living in an apt).

Yeah good point. Sad to hear he’s happy about YT demonetising other videos for sharing ideas. I disagree STRONGLY with a lot of videos but I don’t say I want them to be demonetised. Imagine how he would feel if it was him. His best point was the importance of unplugging for a while from all the “noise”.

What in the hell are you on about? He mentioned that there were contradictory statements and tried to look between the lines. It’s always good to have a healthy level of skepticism toward everyone, the mainstream and the alternatives. They are both whack jobs. Truth usually lies in the middle.
