Suzuki had 16 pts in the playoffs as a 21 year old. How could he not be a number 1 center in the playoffs at 25

The Habs are currently undertaking the cleanest rebuild ever in the cap era. There is no way they should be as good as they are with the assets they have stashed. They’re going to be the prototype for rebuilds going forward.

@powers150014 күн бұрын
This rebuild is similar to what Gorton did in New-York...this is why Molson hired him to be back in the mix asap. The fact that Bergevin had already started a reset prior his firing did really help HuGo: Suzuki, Caufield, Guhle, Montembeault, Savard, Anderson, Armia, Xhekaj, Dobes, Evans, Gallagher, Roy, Mailloux and several other players which were assets traded by Hughes for picks or players were all already there. So they did not start from scratch as other teams...the futur will tell if this is "the prototype" for futur NHL rebuilds. Are the Canadiens going to have the same faith as what it is now happening in New York???..We will see !!!

Caufield, Suzuki, Guhle, Hutson levelling up right before our eyes! Winning against the best is the only way to be considered the best. Every game it feels like they are figuring out that they can be the best. This is becoming special. Keep Hutson under Suzuki for 8 years and there's the window right there. #1 Center, #1 Winger, #1 DFD, #1 OFD, all under 8 million for the next 5 years at least. If Slaf really hits, if Mailloux, if Demidov, if Beck, if Dach, if Laine, or so many more level up they'll be unstoppable! What if Dobes is a star goalie? This is Montreal, of course he is going to be a Star Goalie! The Habs can't find #1 Centers, or point a game Power Forwards, or 40 goal scorers, they fall bass ackwards into great goaltenders. Andy Moog and Cristobal Huet we're all-stars in Montreal, Jose Theodore won a Hart?!?! It's a layup, the Habs are back BABY! Totally drinking the Kool-Aid right now and anyone who doesn't agree can suck eggs for all I care. Go Habs Go!

Slaf is going to be FINE. He’s 20.8 years old. Hughes told everyone when he signed him that he expects a dip. He expected regression. He said “development is not linear,” and everyone went, “wow, what a smart GM.” Fast forward, it happens literally as Hughes said it would, and still all anyone talks about is how he he’s not the player he was last year and blah, blah, blah.

Suzuki is a ppg player on what is more a pair than a line. The moment Slafkovsky find back his game and start to feed his linemate and finish their plays, Suzuki might become a 100 points center and Caufield a 50 Goal scorers. This is a legitimate first line.

I think there is a lot of dog (intensity) in Beck and Heineman. Demidov, Beck, Kapanen, Mailloux, and yes Jake Evans is worth 3.5m a year for 4 years. You know what player you are getting every night. Beck 4C, Evans 3C, Demidov 2C, Suzuki 1C. Hage is on the way.

@powers150014 күн бұрын
Yes indeed you are totally right. However, Suzuki is still the most important player in the line up. If he ever gets seriously hurt, this team will fall quickly in the standings. They still need another center for their futur as good or better than him for depth. HuGo has failed so far to draft or trade for one. Dach, Newhook or Hage are not the solution of that problem !!!

Maybe St.Louis takes a different approach with his guys! Maybe by not singling them out in front of the media, makes him a more respectable Coach in his players eyes! Keeping it behind closed doors and not singling them out and hanging them out to dry in front of the hockey world, to me that shows class! Maybe this is why the players play for him and want to win for him!

Maybe it’s because he retired from hockey 10 years ago that he still remembers what it feels like when things don’t go exactly as expected. If we let go of Armia, we have no replacement in the system. And he is gonna play in the 4 nations tournament. You can't let a player like that go when you have it and when he plays like he is playing. Same with Evans. The only player I see going is Dvorak. Keep Savard year by year or even a 2 year contract.

Do yourself a favor and relive the past a little bit. Go back to the 2021 finals run and watch every goal they scored in the run. Legit 90% of the goals for were effected by Suzuki, Caufield, Anderson, Laine, Gallagher and Evans. Obviously Price and Weber and Toffoli and Danault aren't here but I'd argue we have the bones of a contender here if the goaltending and defence hold.
