No wonder those holsters are expensive....a lot of work and skill goes into making one !!

Very good looking rig, a couple of comments though. Lined belt is really nice, a buckle with a roller on it makes it a lot easier to cinch up though, particularly with a lined belt that is kind of stiff. You couldn't pay me to use a lined holster, had one finally had to quit using it. First off, an unlined leather holster is absolutely fine, I was a Deputy and carried in an unlined holster for a number of years, started out with a blued revolver, no problem at all but since you are out in the weather switched over to stainless. A liner in a holster will come loose, sooner or later, it will get a hole in it and start peeling off no matter how carefully made, when they start doing that you have to buy or make a new holster which will be unlined since you learned your lesson that they don't last over the long haul.

That was so cool. Wish I could afford all those nice tools, but I don't do this for a living. So, a nice sewing machine is out of the question. Everything is done by hand.

Nice- unfortunately the leather isn't thick enough. You'd want at least 12/13 oz for the belt + liner and I'd go 12/13 oz on the holster without a liner. No need for a liner on a holster.

Another nice holster. What is the brown thing (cutting board??) you are punching the holes on? When I click the link # in the list of items it just shows a bunch of videos.

You should check out some of the videos on Bob Munden. Check out his rig, the holster is canted on the belt (Muzzle forward). Be cool to see you reproduce that rig.

Very Nice, by the way do you ever cut your cartridge or pants belt on a contour or curve? I had a pants/gunbelt made by Milt Sparks quite a few years ago which he made that way. It was so comfortable I wore it all the time, not just when carrying.

In fabric stitching using a machine, we can hold the layers together with straight pins. How do you keep your machine clean after all the glue/contact cement/barge (?) layered stitching?

Does your thickness dial read in oz thickness or just mm thickness? If it reads oz thickness where did you get it?

I have to wonder why Tandy Leather would feature a video about fast draw holsters that doesn't feature Tandy "Leather" and wasn't made by a holster maker. There are several holster makers within a short distance of Tandy's headquarters in Fort Worth. While Stock and Barrel makes some great stuff, the missteps in this video made the video as a whole quite disappointing.

He still learning himself you can see it in his style I try to cut him some slack. Had he focused a couple more years on more handmade techniques and gain more experience that he needed instead of tapping into all those expensive gadgets that don't really teach you anything I mean a machine that cuts the belts slots for you come on that's a little too much
@GruntPa1014 жыл бұрын
@@crypto_pinto2660 I don't give him slack, because he is being promoting as something he is not and is portrayed as a subject matter expert. People immediately inquire into purchasing something that is potentially dangerous. The second video he made about this wasn't much better. I have no issues with his other products and like many of them. There is a science to making safe holsters and making them safe or period authentic. If you are going to make a video, at least be correct about the subject material. Tandy has several talented holster makers within a short distance of their corporate HQ, instead, they chose edgy over substance.
