People have been enjoying their brew this way for eons and it was about time to try making “cowboy coffee” for myself as everyone seems to agree that this is the best way to extract the best possible flavor… would you agree? Have you tried this method of coffee brewing? If so, what brand is your favorite and do you have any tips to share?
I hope you found this information helpful and use it as a base to cook up your favorite brand and ultimately, make your coffee the way you enjoy it.
As always, thank you for joining me on my adventures and sharing in the experience 🍃

Hey Marlo! I see you've taken up magic! The famous chair finally realized who was boss! 😆 I had heard of cowboy coffee but never knew what it was other than possibly making a form of coffee when no coffee was available. Obviously that's not what it is. I'm not exactly a coffee connoisseur and don't drink it very often. Even then, I have to have it flavored with Cafe Mocha creamer and sugar. I definitely learned some things about cowboy coffee. First, I learned what it actually was, lol! I also didn't have any idea that the coarseness of the coffee had any bearing on it. When you explained it, it made sense though to my non-coffee-connoisseur self! I've never had coffee out in the wilderness, but the couple of times my parents and I went, coffee was made in a little enamel camp coffee pot and it smelled sooooooo good! Coffee was made at home all the time, but it smelled much better out in nature, so I don't doubt it tasted better. It's always been interesting to me that anything cooked in the outdoors always tastes better than at home, even plain ol' hotdogs! One last thing. You're going to have to cut back on the cowboy coffee. It had you literally bouncing off the trees! 🤣 I really enjoyed this video! I'm glad you finally got out there without a woodchipper and chainsaws going, everybody at the local airport deciding to fly all at the same time, fleets of trucks going by, and every train in the northeast passing by! 😆Thank you again for sharing sweet friend, looking forward to next time! ☕🌳🐦👊👍

When i did that chair edit, i thought about you!!! Lol!! Truth! 🤣 it’s easier to get the seat on but i still struggle and fight with it. I was always hesitant to make coffee this way because I thought it would be crunchy and never knew how much water or coffee to use. Those old enamel coffee pots are gold if you got one.. they cook up the coffee the best. Adult zoomies are a reality with this coffee… get er done!!! Lol!!! Hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend my friend and thank you for checking this out. Yeeeeeeee Hawwwwww 🤠☕️🤠 It was a treat to be out here without all the usual background noises for sure, lol. 😅

@@ExplorewithmeMarloC The Fightin' Folding Chair = Dirk! It sounds like you'll never see a folding chair the same again! 🤣 I'm sure my parents kept the enamel coffee pot. I just haven't found it yet, but I still a lot of stuff to go through so I'm sure it's there somewhere. Probably in the kitchen somewhere. When I do find, that's one of the things that's definitely staying with me. I thought that coffee looked like it could stir itself and get up and walk afterwards! The adult zoomies confirm that! 😆 I hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend too! 🪖👍

Yes there is nothing better than a good cup of coffee in the morning, two things 1. I would never put my pack on the ground, I always hang it from a tree, 2. I always use a coffee strainer when making cowboy coffee because they say you should pour some cold water on top of the coffee in the pot to make the coffee grounds drop to the bottom of the pot well that’s BS I use the strainer to keep the grounds from getting in my cop.

The filter is a nice idea but its easier if you just use a cotton cloth fine weave, (like bandana) rinse and re-use no waste and faster pouring. Been doing that almost 70 years. JUST HISTOTY: There is no such thing as cowboy coffee! For those of you truly interested in the culture of coffee, cowboy coffee is a misnomer. Cowboys were not introduced into the American culture until the 1860s. Coffee, however, was introduced to the Americas historically by Captain John Smith, founder of Jamestown in 1607. In all probability, according to the research I have been able to do, they probably cooked it the same way that we now attribute to cowboys, boiling it or cooking it like tea and then drinking it. While it may seem romantic, when camping, to call it cowboy coffee, it ain't! You could just as easily call it James coffee, Cooks coffee, Jamestown coffee, or just what my grandpa did, boiled coffee. Unless, of course, you percolated it, which was the only other primary method of making it in the 1880s, and later, modern methods were introduced. But no matter how you make it, enjoy it for what it's worth! If you want some really fresh coffee in the woods, watch the video by Beckham Outdoors titled smoothbores & Small Game timestamp at 6:21. That is the way my Grandpa's taught me to make it outdoors in the mid 1950's. Can't get no fresher.
