I think this is probably my favorite Mapleshade map. It shows her agony at the betrayal and the loss of her kits, but at the end, it doesn't excuse her actions, depicting her like a demon or a snake. It doesn't take her side but it still acknowledges that she let the evil take over. Amazing!

I really like how it was displayed too during the gray rain sequence where everyone she ends up murdering stare at her with pity and the song lulls. Maybe if she had stopped there the tragedies would have ended but because of her own actions she commited to vengeance and paid the price.

Cowboy Mapleshade has taken this fandom by storm and I love it. It really does show her grief but also her madness. She isn't even dead yet and she's turned into a monster. And I love how Ravenwing looks almost concerned when Mapleshade falls over the edge of the cliff, but then terrified when she hauls herself back over with a blood thirsty look

I love how the last design of Mapleshade implies all the deaths of her victims. The moonstone claws from ravenwing , snake tongue from frecklewish and the black eyes from appledusk’s blood ! A really nice detail!

6:09 this scene breaks my heart every time I rewatch this. Her kits still love her no matter what but as Mapleshade sinks deeper her kits can’t help her anymore and it reveals what horrible things Mapleshade has done. My most favorite part was how the extended version just showed that Mapleshade didn't stop there, she just had a stronger bloodlust and went for Reedshine. Also that part where it showed like she fell in the river (even if it wasn't around.) Maybe its because earlier she was in one because that was the lowest point where she was in so much pain. Also the other parts were so amazing! 8 hours ain't a joke

Okay there are a lot of things I can appreciate it in this M.A.P so get ready for a paragraph here- Okay so first off I absolutely adore the designs, like I can't get over how frigging cool they look Mapleshade's design is quite pretty, I love how I can see clear western style colors in her fur and those red eyes just make it perfect And then the design she has at the end- Jesus christ she looks like a monster, which is exactly what she created herself to be Ravenwing's design while simple is also quite lovely, like I love his little ear tufts and how the design with his gray-black pelt really worked together Frecklewish's design is something that caught my eye a lot, I don't know if this was intentional but her fur reminds me of the skin of an adder which is what she was killed by canonly and I adore her eyes The kits designs are also very creative, I have never seen someone make all the kits have blue eyes but I can also tell they are Mapleshade's and Appledusk's based on their fur, nifty did a real good job on those! Appledusk's design is very soft and I love the colors sm- I love how there are different shades of brown on his pelt and his eyes are seriously so pretty Reedshine looks absolutely so pretty, I love how some of her fur sags and her eye lashes are just so nice I already love Reedshine sm and I'm happy she was given such a pretty design Perchpaw's design is absolutely adorable, like I love how I can tell he has stubby legs instead of having normal long legs I can also favor how he is pretty plump too which is how he was described in the books, an absolute chonkster Now moving on to the deaths Jesus christ I cannot get over how creative this deaths are- Ravenwing's death is down right gruesome and horrific I can honestly appreciate that he was visibly confused when he saw Mapleshade and wasn't hostile or anything and then fearful when she crawled right back up and grabbed him, he looked like a scared kit because he was indeed a young medicine cat in the books. Sure anyone would be scared that they were about to be killed but most cats would fight back, Ravenwing could not fight back since he was a medicine cat with no fighting experience Sure he was taught to defend himself but not like this The idea of him being thrown and then straight up impaled by a crystal at the moonstone is just so dark and horrific that it's just something Mapleshade would do- Frecklewish's death, as if it wasn't gruesome and dark enough canon wise it's even more gruesome here I love how Mapleshade leads her over to snake rocks like she did canon wise but instead of Frecklewish dying from snake venom she is choked to death by a bunch of snakes which, jesus christ that sends chills down my spine every time Appledusk's death while it doesn't look brutal to some it really is Drowning is already considered a horrible way to die and Appledusk was clearly drowning and his flesh was being torn right out of him and even though he was desperately trying to get away, he failed In my absolute honest opinion, none of these cats deserved to die especially Ravenwing who was just doing his job as a medicine cat Now this scene 2:05-3:00 I can appreciate how this M.A.P made sure to note that Mapleshade loved her kits more than anything I can see her shock when she sees her kits and then her absolute joy as she shed's herself to tears I also love how she is underwater which I can guess is implying the river that caused the kits tragic death Now this scene 3:00-4:10 This scene after looking back at what it really means does conflict me a little but at the same time it doesn't Mapleshade the entire book thinks she did nothing wrong and was 100% innocent when really she wasn't The idea of her waiting for an apology from these three before completely snapping is quite creative However in my personal opinion, only Frecklewish and Appledusk should've apologized Ravenwing as I stated before, really did nothing wrong and was just doing his job as a medicine cat- Plus the book made it clear he had nothing against Mapleshade's kits, maybe her but not her kits Ravenwing in general could do nothing when it came to Mapleshade's exile even if he tried because it is against the warrior code to speak against their leader (which I find this rule really stupid to this day) But I can understand Frecklewish and Appledusk needing to apologize, though I personally think Mapleshade should've done the same for them Why I think this is because she lied about Frecklewish's brother being the father of her kits which was also insulting a dead cat- And Appledusk because she did foolishly cross the river and killed their kits BY ACCIDENT Other than that she doesn't need to apologize much to Appledusk 5:28 I can appreciate how this M.A.P also interprets that Appledusk is a coward because I will admit, he did cowardly stuff and while I don't agree with him using Reedshine as a shield I can also see exactly where that scene is coming from He's a coward, he did cowardly things but he also had every right to be mad at Mapleshade That's all I'll really say though 5:50-6:14 This last chase scene is down right scary, especially since Mapleshade looks like a down right monster I love how Mapleshade decides to chase them because even after she went for Appledusk, she still wanted Reedshine dead canonly in the books I can also appreciate how instead of Perchpaw killing her instantly, he's afraid like Reedshine since he is an apprentice Perchpaw during this scene 5:56 is so created well. The idea of him trying to save Reedshine but only getting stomped all over by Mapleshade is funny yet accurate too since he's rather short Then this scene 6:00, jesus christ Mapleshade looks so scary and I can appreciate how terrified Reedshine truly looks, I believe Reedshine is way too demonized so I can really appreciate how she is played here And I love the ending sm I love how she lunges for Reedshine but Perchpaw quickly shoves her to the side and she falls off a cliff, still pretty much causing her death In this way Perchpaw caused her death but didn't exactly kill her which I seriously love and can't get over And I seriously love how her death is by drowning like her kits did The scene where she's peacefully accepting death and her kits are going down with her then her victims is a real nice touch Overall I seriously love this M.A.P to bits and can't get over it, like even the credits is creative! And that vine at the end was pure cold Seriously lovely M.A.P everyone did so amazing!

I'll admit. I'm honestly not into Warrior's MAPs a lot of the time. However, I actually REALLY enjoy this MAP. A few times I did leave it one for noise, but most of the time I just watch the video. I watch the masterpiece. The art that took time to be created. I read the others' comments here, and sometimes I'd even think about them while watching the video. A few such as the one pointing out how they liked that you made the Moonstones are be located within an abandoned mineshaft and one about the cool review ''flowerbean10'' did. Those are just two I've mentioned, but it makes me appreciate the MAP even more with every detail and scene shown. Not sure if everyone seemed to have noticed this, but at certain scenes, you can actually see a glimpse in the eyes of certain cats as they're dying. (4:43, 5:09, and 5:41). These ''things'' you see in their eyes appear to be the kits that sadly had passed. Aside from that, I love rewatching this! This is easily one of my Top 5 Warrior's MAPs of all time.

Oh. My. Starclan. This is one of my all time favorite maps? What an interesting and unique take on Mapleshade. There are so many fanworks featuring her story, but this is new and refreshing! The heat induced hallucinations of her kits, and the cats that wronged her? Amazing. The action sequences? Flawless. How Appledusk pulled Reedshine in front of him to save his own skin? Hilarious (and oddly in character). It's the story we all know, but with a twist that makes it that much more thrilling.

This is my absolute favorite interpretation of Mapleshade!!! It shows not only her victim's deaths in an incredibly creative light, but also how she wasn't a heartless muderer at first. She was a caring and grieving mother, who wanted nothing more than the safety of her kits. And while that absolutely does not and will NEVER excuse her actions, it's a reason as to why she talked about them, why she cared for them, and why she eventually killed for them. It's a true phenomenon how this map showed all of it, and in a way that's so astoundingly creative it just adds to the beauty of the whole map!! All of the participants here did an amazing job, and I'm glad this has gotten the love and appreciation it truly deserves!! (also if i worded something a little weirdly or in a way that makes it seem odd, I apologize, I'm not really good at typing out my thoughts and opinions on stuff)

I love how, despite being ThunderClan and in a desert, Mapleshade is constantly being shown with water in some form. There are very few frames where she is outside of water. Even in frames without outright water sources like rain and rivers, there's mud (which is wet dirt) or that water-patterned ground. The only scenes in the MAP where Mapleshade is not depicted with water/near a water source is at the very beginning where she's dying of heatstroke (later in the MAP when she decided to avenge her kits she's revived by a storm) and the mineshaft, a holy place where StarClan resides. Mapleshade is evil and will never be a StarClan cat, so it makes sense that her power would not follow her there since StarClan is more powerful than her. The first time she's in the mineshaft, there's lightning, which transitions to her being banished. That's why she slips and falls when attempting to commit a violent act as well. But when she overcomes this weakness and is able to kill Ravenwing, her dead kit's face flashes in the eyes of the deceased medicine cat and the very next frame depicts her with muddy paws. Finally, she drowns to death. Her last frames of wandering the dark afterlife show lightning, which isn't technically water but the promise of water. After all, lightning comes from rain clouds. I love this MAP so much! Holy crap so much work went into it! Even if my analysis is way off, the amount of detail, fluidity of the animation, the beauty of the art, the plot--it's amazing!

I'm late but goddamn this is amazing. I like how it doesn't portray her victims as evil but it also shows some parts of her life as sympathetic but also doesn't make her murder justified either. It's a good balance. And damn, as if the deaths couldn't get more brutal lol! If ima be honest, her crossing of the river in the actual books was silly but it kinda makes sense in this specific AU. A desert is a much harder place to keep kits alive than a bunch of forests, plains and towns. A clan would have been one of the only safe places for a queen because deserts are brutal and very difficult to survive. So it just makes Oakstar exiling her kits with her even worse. She could have still gone to Windclan in this AU since I assume the code about kits is the same but the long trek with kits, limited water and limited food would be pretty tough and the kits would be on the verge of death by the time she got anywhere in the desert. So long story short, crossing the river in this AU is less stupid than in canon and actually makes some logical sense rather than "I just needed to see Appleman :'(" and "We had nowhere to go" despite barn and twolegplace.

I’ve watched this like four times now, it’s absolutely incredible! I remember seeing all the shitposts and individual parts from some people but I decided to not listen to the full map call yet so I could hear and see it all at once when it was completed and oh my god, it’s absolutely stunning. Seriously I can’t say enough about everything from the character designs, the shading, the lighting, subtle color theory, and emotion put behind every single frame. Everyone did absolutely incredible! ❤️❤️❤️

As MapleShade trudges through the Desert Territory, the sun tears her mind apart. She approaches the large mud puddles with a confused-like face. She almost cries, knowing her kits died from that remote Oasis puddle. She wipes the cold mud onto her face, laughing psychotically. The tortoise-shell molly enters the abandoned mineshaft, the home of the largest mother-mouth known to the clans. As she enters, she spots the terrible cat, RavenWing. With a burning hatred, she exits the moonstone with a sigh. She collapses to heatstroke, awaking in that same deep oasis puddle, the one near RiverClan territory. An eel passes her by, before 3 pairs of eyes emerge in front of her. There, her kits. Her kits rush out to her, MapleShade welcomes them with open arms, tears rolling down her cheeks. But, those kits fade away. MapleShade sighs, turning to see those souls. Those souls that have betrayed her. MapleShade has no reaction but for a quiet cry. She awakes, anger fuels her. She quickly rushes back to MotherMouth, leaping at RavenWing with a scream. She slips off the rock, her tailtip getting ripped by the sharp spikes. She regains herself, crawling up the rock. A eyeblink later, RavenWing was impaled on the sharp rock, and MapleShade was gone. MapleShade tracks mud to her location, leading FreckleWish right where she wanted her. At SnakeBite, the closest snake area. FreckleWish freezes, snakes surrounding her as MapleShade walks off. FreckleWish dies of those adder snakes, and MapleShade believes that she freed her second kit. MapleShade snatches PerchPaw while he was hiding from the rain, using him as bait to draw AppleDusk closer. MapleShade notices that AppleDusk’s new mate was….pregnant?! She hisses, jumping down with a grin. She launches herself at AppleDusk, giving him a good slash across the stomach, then shoving him under the waves. “Hah! I thought you were a RiverClan cat. Guess the rivers don’t like you that much!” MapleShade laughs, as the bubbles stop. She whips around, chasing PerchPaw and ReedShine up to the highest mountain, jumping on PerchPaw. MapleShade launches into the air, but gets her side slashed by that damn apprentice, falling off the cliff. She lands in a river, her eyes imagine seeing her kits trying to drag her up, but it was no use. She smiles, closing her eyes. Presumably drowning to death in that river….but MapleShade wasn’t done with her rampage, not for a million moons. *•END•* (SnakeBite is my own made up snakerocks for the desert territory :) )

I love all the small details of the clouds flashing in the shape of a cat's head (starting at 4:08), the fact that when entering the Moonstone, Mapleshade was going so fast that she nearly went off the edge (4:26), and then her victim's hackles rising like a real cat's would do if they're scared, the fact that I can see at least two red, white, and black striped snakes (quick flash at 5:08, then again at 5:10 around the eye), which IIRC are venomous.

I adore this map. It rlly shows Mapleshade’s true colors, instead of just ‘Imma Villian! Rawr! I’ll kill ya then eat your bones’. I got emotional for her when it shows her under water with her kits, then waking up to it being nothing but a dream. I feel like we can almost all relate to Mapleshade when it comes to anger, and grief. Like, what if I did this instead, or how come they all died but they are still alive? This map I feel like rlly explains Mapleshade and who she was vs what happened to her and how, instead of overcoming it, she loved so much that it took over her, causing her to…feel: which a lot of us wish we could do more of. Amazing job to all the artists who participated in this map. It’s a new treasure to my heart❤️

this is INSANE. i don't even know why i'm crying, i'm just so overwhelmed. the concept, the aesthetic, the... god, just the EXCELLENCE of animation and expressions and movement. i've never been so pumped watching a map. so often parts are quite slow and linger on one specific thing, and as wonderful as that can be this is just SPECIAL. the chase scene??? the bit... sorry i'm literally giddy, the bit where maple crawls back up over the drop by the moonstone? the scale of violence? it was so EXCITING. like genuinely THRILLING. 1:32 for me was where i got chills and sat up straighter and was like 'okay this is going to be something different.' i can't even cope, this is a special map.

I love how it shows her emotions switching up very quickly. It shows on how her sanity dropped. most maps show as if she was always a cold blooded killer. she never wanted to kill she was driven to insanity. I also like at 3:16 to 4:00 it shows her expressions as if she regrets what she did.

This is so well directed and skripted map with so good character designs. Like everyone did such BRILLIANT JOB ! The part where Mapleshade hugs her babies and where lyrics says "we need ocksygen to breath" breaks me to tears every time and that tels me something. It is amusing how many good artist there is ready to creat in short time something this awesome, well done and this is so far my top favourite map!!

This was such and amazing map to watch! Everyone did so well and the idea is so unique, this map was set up to be one of the best from the start, and watching it for the first time was like a glimpse into the books itself. It makes you feel all the pain Maple went through and you want her to accomplish her goals. In the last bit of this map, when Perchpaw almost went down with maple and Reed saves him was the last of what I thought of the perfect map, that was instantly followed by the ghosts of the fallen. Altogether this map touched me. It's perfect in every way possible great job to you and to all the animators who worked one it!!!
