@@CowboyKentRollins I would call them cheap crab cakes, the recipe I use for real Poor Man's crab cakes calls for using grated Zucchini instead of crab meat and I make large batches and fill cupcake or muffin pans and freeze them then drop them into ziplock bags for storage in my freezer. The muffin pans keep all at the same size and when you fry them up while frozen they brown up nice and stay somewhat soft in the center even if deep fried. I do the same with my salmon cakes and freeze a large batch for a later date.

I'm Alaskan Native and I'll tell you that "sal-mon" is the proper way to pronounce it but nobody will ever pronounce it that way. Nearly all Americans except those down south-central USA say "sah-men" instead of the correct sal-mon. I do myself say sah-men just because it's what I heard the most. But, I'd say it like a drunken Alaskan sailor/fisherman.

I make my poor man's crab cakes with fake crab and diced shrimp. You can also mince up some shrimp to add to the mix, to make the ingredients stick together better. Works nicely with the egg as cake glue. Also use a little panko breadcrumbs in the filling so I can control the flavor of the mix better. Panko doesn't have any flavor like regular breadcrumbs. Next time I make these, I'm going to add a can of minced crab to my mix. Thanks, Ken and Shannon, for another great video. BTW: I had ablation surgery in June 2020. Sounds like a scary procedure, but either I was going to die and go to Heaven, or I was going to survive. A win-win either way! ✝🙏🏻 So thankful to God that your procedure was successful also!!!

Kent, so sorry to hear that you have been unwell. I really hope that you are recovering. In the last 5 years I also been suffering a bit and spending a fair bit of time in the hospital. An example, 2018, during 5 separate visits , I spent a total of 87 days in hospital. Cancer, cancer surgery, cancer treatment, treatment for cancer treatment…..you get the idea ! In the whole 5 year span, I had problems with just 3 people, and it was taken care of. Even the visiting cats liked me. I didn’t like the bills I got, but something you have to live through. $1.68 million for 1 6 month period. So look after yourselves. Sincerely Rod

Sadly I had a bad experience at a hospital. They told my husband that he wasn't that sick. He died 2 days later at a different hospital. Today marks the day he died a year ago. We just bought a house and was looking forward to Christmas in this fancy new house. I never in a million years thought I would be a widow. I turn to youtube and a few channels, to occupy my mind. I feel like my life is very sad and dark. Not able to work and barely leave my home. My grief is very intense and complicated. We had 30 years together. We were together since we were teens. Not sure how to go on without him. I am glad I found your channel. I hope your health continues to be stable. God Bless from Ohio. 🙏❤️🤍💙🙏

Kent I'm a native of Baltimore. Just a suggestion, we ALWAYS serve our crabcakes on saltine crackers. Try it, you'll be a believer. We used to catch blue channel crabs on a trot line in the bay using a trot line with stuff like chicken necks, parts etc. Some folks used crab traps, but we'dget a bushel a day. Either way, crab cakes are my fav.meal, with those onion burgers a clise second. Yeah I was stationed at Ft Sill a few years

Congratulations, Kent, on your successful procedure. I am happy to see that you pulled through, and will pray for a speedy recovery. In the north east, people still need poor man’s crab cakes from time to time. Some people mix claw meat with shredded zucchini, salted and drained. So happy you have made it back and things are going well for you. Thank for for your recognition of nurses and all healthcare workers. My late wife was a nurse and worked mostly the ER with a couple of stints in ICU, pediatrics and obstetrics. I think for a while she helped deliver half the kids in the we lived in. She specialized in pediatric traumatic treatment. She truly was an angel to so many where she worked. Almost forgot my ditch beagle is doing fine and she's getting spoiled by my 91yo mom cooking chicken quarters for her and the other rescue and ditch pets we inherited through the rescue group we belong to and the ditch dogs that seem to be left off along the road and come to our homes. I have never obtained a pet from a store or breeder for over 40 years. Best to you and yours, Kent, this Christmas and holiday season.
