How is Mike McCarthy better than any of those coaches? They all got fired after losing seasons. Mike McCarthy got fired from Green Bay after a losing season. He's a two-time fired loser. He had Aaron Rodgers for 15+ years and got to one super bowl, that's criminal. He was never going to get them over the hump. Dan Quinn carried him, Mike Zimmer carried him the second half of this season. Just like Dom Capers carried him in Green Bay

Personally I think you're full of shit calling Witten not a serious candidate. Here's why. Jason always made everyone around him better even tho he was never the most physically gifted TE. What he was was smart, hard worker, and held himself and other players accountable. Would I rather him have at least college experience? Yeah, who wouldn't. But Frankly Witten is a natural leader, and THAT is the most important quality in a head coach. He needs a vision and the leadership to get that vision done. The Cowboys needs a strong leader. They need someone to drill thru these players heads to eliminate presnap bullshit penalties which were rampant under Macarthy. Witten may not be your HC but maybe you bring him in as the TE coach some such. But that leaves you trying to find a leader with experience, but not a retread. That leaves Aaron Glenn. Bring in others on that list to interview but wait patiently for Glenn. Glenn deserves a shot. And I'm a true blue Lions fan that doesn't want that staff poached at all. But Glenn is the creme of the crop coordinator wise. He's a born leader like Witten with a DC track record. But the boys already have Zimmer in house MAYBE, and frankly he got a raw deal in Minnesota. But he may not want to coach again. Of all the candidates you listed Glenn is the guy to target unless someone else blows your socks off in the interview.

Truthfully I do not understand why anyone believe that guys like Pete Carroll and other coaches that had these long tenures as coaches should be coaching in todays NFL including Jon Gruden the guy was terrible coaching the raiders. Dallad Cowboys organization needs to hire a coach that has no history with that organization and Jerry Jones. They also needs to hire a coach that's a great innovator that can evaluate talent and understand the players attributes and flaws.
