The reason the animation seemed to get flatter in season 2 was a change in animation studios- from Guenther-Wahl Productions (their other notable work- The Angry Beavers) to Ruby-Spears Productions (who were SERIOUSLY stretching for cash after they were spun off by Taft Broadcasting- basically, they sold the *library* pre-1991 to Turner Broadcasting, so that's why some products of theirs are credited to Hanna-Barbera; at this point, they were known as RS Enterprises, and they'd ultimately go out of business in 1996.) Sorta like how Captain Planet shifted from DIC to Hanna Barbera after Turner bought the company.

Jacob Wells Exactly. I think FAR too many ppl view the Turtles through rose-colored lenses. It was actually a pretty lame concept, and given that there's no WAY it should have had this much longevity. I think the entire reason for this is millennial adults driven off nostalgia who haven't ever actually went back and re-watched the old cartoons. They're ass terrible!!!

As much as I hate to admit it, you've got a point. About a year or two ago, I purchased the first four seasons of the original TMNT cartoon series on DVD, just to relive some of those sweet childhood memories. I was able to watch the first two seasons with no problem, but only a few episodes in of the third season it just became borderline torture to watch, and I still haven't finished it or even tried to watch season four. It's definitely a silly concept, but it seems that the writers where at least trying to take it somewhat seriously at first. Then it just got bogged down with lazy writing after it became "to big to fail".

Hands down my favorite tv show growing up. I grew up country so this more fueled my desire to be a cowboy. My first horse was even named Cyclone (Marshal Moo’s horse’s name). As an adult I rewatched all the episodes on KZbin. Even still searching them up and coming across this video itself. I had the clothes, toys and comics. I hated the ninja turtles, but then when Gargoyles came out is when I put down my cowboy hat for a time. Thanks for ripping through my favorite tv show. Hahaha

I would like to see a reboot to Wild West COW boys of Moo Mesa by not only focusing on the story, character background, and their past with every hero and antagonist, but not make the same mistake of only bringing in characters to sell toys. But only if they don't change some of the characters like Boothill Buzzard and Saddlesore Scorpion too much on the design and personality. The show should have kept going because their story, mostly Boothill's felt unfinished.

Yep - the word 'cowboy' came from 'vaquero', referring to the men who would keep cattle herds where they belonged, round them up for branding, shipping and whatnot - who most of the time were Hispanic or Native, but the idea of cowboys became romanticized largely by Marlboro's sales campaigns and snowballed into the western entertainment everyone's familiar with today. Bandits or desperados would be the criminals, not the cowboys. Of course cowboys as a job largely vanished when barbed wire fences became a thing...lot cheaper and easier to keep a herd contained with a few dollars worth of wire, even if a few men were kept on hand in case of fence breaks or other issues.

Not that I lived on TV, I just tended to get shipped off a lot on weekends and holidays to other relatives so I was separated from my friends that I would have played with, but was never around long enough to make new ones where I was. They weren't trying to disassociate the show with real cowboys, they were trying to distance it from the pop-culture version of cowboys depicted by Hollywood. The real historical cowboys were just honest labourers, usually black or Mexican who worked for cattle ranches. The idea of the bandit or drifter cowboy was taken from old, fictional books which inspired the whole Wild West genre. These books were entertaining but they didn't really have any basis in fact, for the most part.

This guy seriously has a big mouth and doesn't know what the hell he is talking about, so I don't even know why some of us waste time listening to him tell us what is good or bad, showing he has serious issues that he tries to make facts out of, when it's nothing but personal vendetta. Just because he thinks that he could easily change the channel doesn't make him right.

I remember watching the preview for the show's 1st Saturday airing the night before during the TGIF lineup. People were generally excited for this. It really did have a great opening song.

I really do like the wild west C.O.W. Boys of the Moo Mesa, because it reminds me of biker mice from mars and it got action, adventure and comedy. I just wished they released the complete DVD series.

I think TMNT already had enough reboots and not it is time to give other shows a chance to shine, like this one that deserves it so much, even start giving the development and potential to tell everyone else's side of the story, since they were left unfinished.

Dude this show was my CHILDHOOD i was OBSESSED with it. Never got the main toys but I loved the hell out of the cartoon. It became my nostalgia obsession in my teens as I longed to see it again.. that was right around when the Toon Disney station was being launched and Moo Mesa was one of the shows they were showing. We couldn't afford it but I was over the moon knowing it was back on the air somewhere. One of the kicker moments that I enjoyed with this show was when my mom came home from work one day long after the series had gone off saturday mornings and burst in my room like OH MY GOD WHAT THE HECK DID I FIND AT LUNCH TODAY.. and she handed me a Moo Mesa toy figure she got in a kiddy meal from like taco cabana or something. I flipped my shit and we actually went out and got me the whole collection. I still have them to this day. They were based on the designs of the second season but MERCH IS FUCKING MERCH. I loved that show so much I drew fanart and wrote fanfics before I even knew what fanart and fanfics were! hahaha ....Hell this show almost made me a furry. I was WAY too into Moo Montana.

I'm not gonna lie, even though it lasted only 26 episodes. It was still 26 episodes of awesomeness we held close to our hearts. Plus, I know I'm not gay, but Marshal Moo Montana was definitely my man-crush.

Having watched some of the show, I can honestly say…it’s not weird at all. It’s basically your standard talking antro-animals 90s Saturday Morning cartoon. The only thing truly weird about it the needlessly convoluted backstory for why Moo Mesa exists. Whoever penned that seems to have forgotten that antro-animal shows were just a common phenomenon (especially at the time) that nobody questioned the logistic behind.

I think Nostalgia Critic has serious issues and serious problems when it comes to imperfection in some cartoon shows that are not even nowhere near terrible as he always makes it out to be. If there was a reboot to this show someday, it would be nice to not only see improved development and backstory to characters that never had their stories finished, but to go into more development on the comet.

I was randomly called to the principal’s office of like, 3rd grade. They gave me no reason for it, but they offered me a Rude Dog tee shirt. I’d won some contest , though I had no idea what the contest was , 😅 Anyway, I recall RD being aired on Saturday mornings… very short-lived. First broadcast on September 12, 1992, the television series ran for two seasons. Spanning 26 episodes, before the show was canceled on May 26, 1994 with Disney's acquisition of ABC. The series was then broadcast on Toon Disney from April of 1998 to April of 2001.

They definitely should’ve done more with this show. It did get silly later but they did good before, and if TMNT can go far despite it being about mutant ninja turtles who are also teenagers, why can’t this show?

Of course they should have done more for this show with so much potential just like Filmation should have done more for "Bravestarr" that also had so much potential to continue and finish a lot of things that felt unfinished like everyone's backstory, development and the arrest of the Masked Bull. I get that they should not have changed the animation style in the second season, but it still had good episodes in it to remember.
