Thanks for the video dan! We have only rolled a clamp once for a contractor. We used a brand new front end loader and a tractor gp bucket. We also had an mx 100 c packing the clamp behind the loader. The thing was by the time we pushed most of the first load up a second had already came and unloaded. Also because we had to milk cows!

Great job, that unloading motor is under fair pressure for sure, I liked the little shunt you gave her to help unload!👍

Nice video, very informative. You sure weren't kidding that the wagon has trouble unloading though.

Excellent video Dan, the emptying is a let down but it did seem to pack in a decent load.

Very good video, very informative. I see the roll right infront of the pick-up isnt turning smoothly, could that increase capacity?
@CowfarmerDan5 жыл бұрын
Not really, it wasn't turning because it had some grass wrapped around it.

Nice one Dan 👍 I'd agree with you, I'd have thought 2 motors would be better. the single motor doesn't sound happy with a full load. Out of interest, do you think you get more grass in a box than a trailer?
@CowfarmerDan5 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's definitely packed in tighter than a trailer.

Good video how many more seasons will you get out of that forage wagon before you have to buy another one?
@CowfarmerDan5 жыл бұрын
Don't know yet, there's no plans to change for the foreseeable future.

We had a Claas Quantum 4700p and we only got 9 seasons out of it before the rotor split/cracked and twisted the back knife plate, but the cost of repair for parts alone was more than the machine was worth, so was quickly written off by our insurers, but only issues we really has was that and about 3 years old it decieded to sheer all the bolts between the rotor and the gearbox, and we noticed cracks in the chassie were the rams were pushng the trailer up on the main frame it started to crack.
@danielbanks90005 жыл бұрын
Recently subscribed to your channel. Like what I see. The wagon does sound laboured when unloading. At 8 mins 30 seconds into video you have the speeded up footage, sounded like a rally car changing gears, was that deliberate? Keep up the great vids. Where are you based?
@CowfarmerDan5 жыл бұрын
It's deliberately speeded up to keep the video a bit shorter! We're in Wiltshire.

With our quantum wagon I lift the front of the wagon right up on the draw bar rams so it’s slightly tipped to help unload, not sure if you’ve tried that?
@CowfarmerDan4 жыл бұрын
Yes, tried that before, but for some reason the rams on this wagon are very slow to extend so we just leave them where they are now.
@benuglow82034 жыл бұрын
CowfarmerDan they are fairly slow due to being big rams. We’ve just bought one like yours so I’ll see what it’s like when it turns up.

Nice video there 👍 never used a forage wagon before, is the chop length adjustable and if so what length of chop can it do 🤔 an as u said that hydraulic motor sure is strugglin when wagon is full 😕

Chop length is fixed, at quite long!

What wagon brand would you go with when or if you replace the claas? I would recommend pottinger as its one of the most reliable rands in my opinion and with pottinger you can go 15/16k empty or full. Grand video again
@CowfarmerDan5 жыл бұрын
We had a Pottinger on demo before we bought this one, but the Claas dealer offered better back up. If we change it, it would probably be Pottinger.
@Masseyman-nv2kl5 жыл бұрын
CowfarmerDan my friend has a pottinger toro 6013 I think on a MF 6480 and it has something like 4000 acres on it and has had 2 shear bars and tines now and again.
@michaelbrown43695 жыл бұрын
@@Masseyman-nv2kl forage wagons dont have shear bars ....
@Masseyman-nv2kl5 жыл бұрын
Michael Brown I call it shear bar. What I mean is the chopper blades. Their worker managed to put a boulder in it the first time and bent it. Then he bent the pickup on a concrete strainer and bent the pto and shafts into the main gearbox.
@Masseyman-nv2kl5 жыл бұрын
Thomas OConnor what do you run yours off of? My friend is thinking of getting a MF 7718s as their 6480 is at like 9K hours and it's a 12 plate.

Question Dan. Wouldn't the Matt bro be a better choice on the pit? Kubota seems to do a good job anyway

No, Matbro wouldn't cope.

Y do you dump it in front of the pit and carry it in one grab at a time rather than unload it in/on the pit?
@CowfarmerDan5 жыл бұрын
We do unload in the pit while it's filling, there's not enough room once it starts getting full.
