My immediate thought was to weld up and bore out with a big end mill. With hindsight I like your repair better. Cheers.

A tidy neat job dan! i think that's the best way to have done it, and if it ever got wear in it again in the future, it could be reamed out, and a thinner bronze bush pressed in to your bush. But as you say, it's not likely to see 70years of every day use again! One thing you could have done, is it wouldn't have mattered if the bush had been a tiny bit smaller. Reason is i restored my 1951 TED quite a few years ago now, and i stripped the axel down in pieces to blast and paint, and when it came to taking the axel pin out. I had to tap it out from inside the bracket, and when the pin came out, it had not one bit of wear in the pin, bracket and axel bush! I got my fergie from a chap who had known the history, and had not had a hard life, so the axel was very tight And still original pin and axel bush, and on reasembly was case of tapping pin back in and the 11/16 bolt to secure, but that's a fine job!👌

Have you allowed for the axle fitting in ? That bush is probably 10mm thicker towards the axle ? Will you have to shave the face of the axle ?
@CowfarmerDan
@CowfarmerDan Күн бұрын
Yes, there's room for the axle, new bush is less than 5mm into the axle space.

I was rewatching this video, I noticed on your lower lift arms, you have the connecting links in the middle of the 3 holes. My 240 is this way as well. However I see a lot of them online it’s in the hole nearest to the diff. Why is this? Any advise is appreciated
@CowfarmerDan
@CowfarmerDan 22 күн бұрын
The hole nearest the diff gives the greatest lift height but the lowest lift capacity The hole nearest the ball end gives the greatest lift capacity, but loses some lift height. The centre hole is a happy medium between the 2.

I don't even need to do this job on my MF135, but when this video showed up for me, I was fascinated to see how to do it. Thanks also for showing what happens inside the gearbox when selecting the PTO lever. I can now imagine in my head, what is happening when I do shift the lever. In nearly 30 years of owning mine, that has had lots of regular use, I've not had to do any jobs on the gearbox (apart from an oil change), clutch or back end, so not had any need to take the top cover off to see inside, though I know basically what's in there of course.

Our neighbouring farmer had 3000 and 3600 series Massey tractors in the late '90s. They were the first tractors I really fell in love with. Something about the shape and proportions is just right. Love them. So glad you've got one in your collection Dan 😊 they are a very nostalgic tractor for me!
